So naturally we wanted to bring the grandkids here while we were visiting. The previous owner was Teri and she made it enjoyable to shop there. She would always engage her customers in conversation. Sweet Sweet Lady! The new owner is the polar opposite She was the rudest person I have met in Sainte Genevieve so far. OMG ! We tried talking with her and she literally just stared at us. So Rude. Everyone in the group noticed We kicked ourselves for spending our money in there. The candy is Stale, Marshmallow candy was rock hard, Just about broke a tooth on the Malt Balls SAD! Think twice before going in here She is not appreciative of the customers that come in and spend money in the shop. In reading all of the negative comments about Sweet Things it looks like everyone who goes in and gives negative reviews have dealt with the Owner that runs and operates this business, so it is her they are reviewing as being poor customer service.

Regardless, my kids love it, the owner knows us by name, and my daughter always wants to go. Yes... Always. I don't mind either, because there are good treats for us all. I like the old school cakes and the chocolate covered Nutter Butters.

This was my second trip here. The first it was the destination, the second was a side quest. I…read moredidn't realize how close it is from Elephant Rocks State Park and Johnson Shut-ins!! The store is so cute! The mix of nostalgic candy, rare finds, antiques, ice cream, coffee, and bulk items can be overwelming, but in a positive way. It is almost like a candy / treat store and a museum all in one. On this trip, I got some coffee sample packets for my husband's Easter basket, a frappe for each of us, and a couple of candies for the household. The shop is bursting with products, so the aisles are a bit tight for passing people stopped to check out the fun products. Caledonia is a charming little village with shops, eats, and several outdoor adventures in the area.

When we visited, it was decorated for Christmas, giving it a cozy, vintage holiday vibe. The shelves were filled with childhood candies (even candy cigarettes). They also have an impressive selection of coffees from around the world -- and the prices are refreshingly reasonable. The handmade ice cream bar is a must-try. We ordered an ice cream flight with five samples, perfect for sharing since we couldn't decide on just one of the many delicious flavors. The assortment of chocolates looked amazing too. Upstairs, you can stroll through a collection of antiques that add even more charm to the place. We really enjoyed our visit -- it's a place that makes you slow down, take it all in, and maybe leave with a few extra treats you didn't plan on.

I…read moredidn't know what to expect when I walked in, but I was pleasantly surprised with my visit. I was greeted by both the owners (at least I think they were the owners) and they began talking to me about the concept for their store. They have all kinds of candy to offer and I think they even have funnel cakes. I was offered a few samples of some gummy bears that I had never tried before. I think I had a strawberry-banana gummy bear and it was delicious. I don't know what brand the gummy bears are, but they are definitely soft and chewy. They also had a bunch of salt water taffy and I actually purchased some to bring to work for my candy dish (which the students have all enjoyed)! The store reminded me of an old soda shop (and they sell soda too)! It is also colorful and bright. The colors of the candy on the walls really stand out too. If you are in the area I would recommend stopping in and giving them a try. I really hope the business can stick around since it is a neat concept for the area and who doesn't have a sweet tooth? Go check it out!

The shop is very clean and bright. The whole place even smells like gummi bears! Very satisfying for a person with a major sweet tooth. The staff at the candy shop are always very eager to help you and make whatever you want to order. The shop is fairly new, so they are still working around the menu to deliver good-quality service. I can tell that the staff is very passionate about making the store become successful. I had a root beer soda float and it was very tasty and good. I will come here again soon for an ice cold drink to cool off in this nasty summer heat.
