Moving to a small town a few years ago, I was anticipating find new places to shop and dine, one of the places I stumbled on within the first day of moving was Richard's Produce. Located on a busy thoroughfare in Festus Mo. Richards is easy to spot from the road, with its red barn building. They offer a huge selection of fruits and vegetables, at really reasonable prices. I have stopped in there on many occasions to pick up a bag of cherries, or some deliciously sweet grapes, to quench my appetite on a hot summer day. Richards also has a wide selection of plants and trees and bushes as well.
Richards brings their foods in from a lot of local farmers, and they even have an organic section for those people on an "organic only" craze. Richards also has a large selection of Jelly's/ Jams and salsas for purchase, and there's enough of a variety to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. I've purchased some of the best ears of corn producing some of the tastiest corn on the cob I've ever had, and I have yet to have any problems with the produce being bad or not tasting sweet and delicious.
Richard's is open 7 days a week from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm giving every one a chance at being able to stop for their fruits and veggies needs. in the winter time, they become a Christmas tree lot and once that is over, I believe that they close for season and reopen in the springtime for the next season. The service is great, and the people working there are always friendly, and make you feel welcome and willing to return for another visit, which I do rather often.
While Richards isn't the giant produce stand I dealt with while living in the big city, I do find that the old saying of "good things, come in small packages" works perfectly well when describing Richard's Produce, because this is definitely a good thing.. read more
