We used A1 a couple of years ago. I didn't feel good about the experience at the time, but I had no…read moreproof to back it up. Last week, I had a service company come out and they confirmed my suspicions. When A1 said they replaced two pumps on our system, it was done when we were not home, therefore there was no way no shut off the breaker and we saw none of the work being done. The owner of A1 said they replaced the pumps without shutting off the power. We were charged for two pumps to the tune of about $5,000. The service company that was just out informed me that one pump looked like the original and had not been replaced and the other pump was not even receiving power and also was not anywhere near new. I did not want to write such a negative review until I had proof, because to damage someone's reputation is not to be taken lightly. We did not receive honest service from A1, we were lied to, and they got $5k from us for doing nothing.

I had to hire another company to remove and replace the ductwork they caused damage to in the attic. The owner never went into the attic and only went by what the young inexperienced technician advised him then tried to say he went into the attic and made the repairs himself. This was completely false since I was present the entire time. He also stated that he could make repairs to my dryer which also turned out to be false. I do not recommend them for any type of repairs.

Luckily, I found Jim Wilson's service here on Yelp and after reading the favorable reviews, called him for help and arranged a time for the repair. He arrived on time, went right to work and soon had my oven working great. I don't know how he did it, but the oven works better now than it did when it was brand new! Maybe a better replacement part than the original? He charged a very fair price. He did NOT try to sell us anything extra or 'upsell'. I recommend Jim Wilson and Sons Service to anyone with an appliance in need of repair.

Within 45 min got a call from Tim saying he could send a Technician today around 4:30 pm. I had two other HVAC companies out, one said my thermostat was broken and I just needed to replace it but wouldn't replace it because it was a Carrier he suggested calling someone for a second opinion. Another told me it was needing a new compressor and capacitor and because it was a Carrier that would cost over $6,000 or replace the entire thing for $15,000 Nick came out was up front on everything: pricing, expected time spent, what he thought the issue was initially, once he figured out the issue he explained what he would do and offered his understanding of where other HVAC technicians went wrong diagnosing the AC problem. The Carrier website has a list of service providers and I went with them because of their rating. I rarely do reviews and only because i feel strongly positively or negatively. Meanwhile we suffered through 98 degree Texas summer days. Finally decided to give up on AHS and take matters into my own hands. Minuteman had sent a flyer in the mail with coupons and I gave them a call to see if they can repair the system. Their tech Alberto came out right away and told me that it was the compressor and that they could fix it but I was looking at 6-7k per unit and since one unit was 25 years old and the other was 12 he recommended a replacement as being the better way to go to ensure reliability and energy efficiency with a new unit. I agreed since I didn't want to pour money into repairing units that were near the end of their lifespan. The price was higher than my budget but then again I decided on a 17 SEER system to ensure energy efficiency to go with my solar panels. Minuteman came out the next business and within eight hours had both systems up and the house cooling down. They arrived on time, were very efficient, courteous, and did a great job. I highly recommend Alberto as he took his time explaining everything and did not pressure me into making the decision to replace the system instead explained the pros and cons and let me decide. Overall I could not be happier with Minuteman and would highly recommend them to anyone needing HVAC installation or repairs.
