Nick and Hightower Service were excellent and great value. I put in a service request for my Carrier AC around 3 pm and requested an appointment 2 days forward. Within 45 min got a call from Tim saying he could send a Technician today around 4:30 pm. I had two other HVAC companies out, one said my thermostat was broken and I just needed to replace it but wouldn't replace it because it was a Carrier he suggested calling someone for a second opinion. Another told me it was needing a new compressor and capacitor and because it was a Carrier that would cost over $6,000 or replace the entire thing for $15,000 Nick came out was up front on everything: pricing, expected time spent, what he thought the issue was initially, once he figured out the issue he explained what he would do and offered his understanding of where other HVAC technicians went wrong diagnosing the AC problem. The Carrier website has a list of service providers and I went with them because of their rating. I rarely do reviews and only because i feel strongly positively or negatively. I was never happy with my old system. Certain areas never cooled enough and it seemed like the system was running all the time. When one of the units went out I thought it was time to fix the shortcomings. First, Hightower did a heat load assessment which determined one of the units needed to be a larger capacity. Furthermore, they determined both units needed increased draw capacity. New units have been installed. Crew was great to work with. They corrected a number of little issues from the last installation. Added airflow is pushing a lot more cool air out making the house more comfortable while the units are not constantly running. Bottom line, I'm thrilled! The units work great. They're quieter than the old system. Hightower has been servicing my units for about five or six years. Hightower completed the installation, not a subcontractor who will never see the units again, let alone maintain the units. read more

Superior company from the initial contact with Tim to the truck leaving the driveway. We use Hightower for the biannual service of our HVAC systems. Our service technician, Orbin, informed us of a recent problem noted with rodents and squirls. These critters had shredded our ducts, which answered the high electric/gas bills. This significant issue required other companies' expertise and involvement. Hightower's electrician, Nathan, handled the electrical inspection once the animal & insulation removal had been completed. We were grateful the wiring was not compromised! The replacement of the ducts was installed by Abraham's team from Hightower. After much coordination and effort, our issue was resolved. I would not recommend this company to anyone. While they did correctly diagnose the problem in my AC Unit (there is a leak in the evaporator coil), they provided me an estimate for repair that is over double the highest national average price of $2,400 and the $2,500 price I have received from other suppliers for exactly the same service. Their quote was $5,101 (Please see attachment). When I requested a breakout of their cost, they refused to provide it to me. Additionally, when I asked the service technician if it would be better to replace the whole system, or just replace the evaporator coil he stated that a new system would cost anywhere from $12,000 to $15,000, and therefore just recommended replacing the Evaporator Coil. I have since obtained written quotes from other companies as follows: - New 2-Ton 15.2 SEER2 Carrier System for $5,780. - New 2-Ton 16.2 SEER2 Lennox System for $6,780 and Tax Credit of $600 - New 2 Ton 15.2 SEER2 Trane System for $7,180. - New 2 Ton 15.2 SEER2 Lennox System for $5,900. First, I called at nearly 1p today, so of course they scheduled me for the following day. With an added opportunity to be called back today if there were any other scheduling changes with others. I received 2 quotes to replace an older Trane HVAC. The Hightower quote was the most reasonable and included a few extras. They told me what they were going to do, when they were going to do it, and kept their word on everything. The installers showed up on time and worked nonstop all day to install the system before the worst heat of the day, which is no small feat in July in Texas. I HIGHLY recommend this company. Air conditioning went out on a Saturday, leaving us with an indoor temp of 87 degrees. We called our Home Warranty service, only to be informed that the company they selected didn't work on Sundays. Fortunately my brother-in-law recommended Hightower. I called on Sunday morning and received a call back a couple of hours later. If you live in the Arlington area and need help same or next day help, call Hightower. Deno came when my breakers went out. It was just a simple reset but he took the time to teach this first time homeowner (me) how the breaker works, why it tripped, and what to do the next time it happened. Plus he didnt even charge me the full first hour. Deno was very responsive, respected my home, and was straight up honest. A few days later my AC went out. I called at 2pm and the call taker said, "I can have someone out first thing in the morning or this afternoon. Which do you prefer?" I chose same day and Justin came to the rescue. He found the problem, recommended I did a leak search. To hold me over, he topped off my unit with refrigerant even though it was leaking. He came back 2 days later for the search. He found the leak and invited me up to see. He took the time to inform me about what went wrong, the most likely reason it happened, how to fix the problem, and here is the kicker recommended the upgrade needed to prevent it from happening again. Justin kept me in the loop every step of the way. He was honest, respected me and my house, and I can tell he truly cares that I am comfortable in my home. Yes! Yes! Yes! I was referred to this company by another electrical company who was completely booked. The day I called to request service I got an immediate call back and scheduled my appointment. I'm a new home owner so I'm still doing repairs and maintenance from my home inspection so I had a list of things to review. My appointment was scheduled first thing in the morning and I got the call that they were on their way before 9a. My visit ended before 11:30a and we looked at all outlets in a 4b, 2.5b townhome including the garage and attic. I can't compare prices but i feel for the amount I paid, the work I got done plus the customer service....it was worth every penny! read more

Hightower fixed some issues with my system caused by my previous vendor and convinced me to buy a maintenance agreement with the incentive that they have a "no fee guarantee" which basically eliminates travel and emergency call fees. The good news is that I haven't had any major issues in almost a year.. the bad news is that as soon as I did have an issue, they told me that they are discontinuing the "no fee guarantee". They gave me a myriad of excuses why they were discontinuing it, but none of them made me feel any better. Less than two months after a routine maintenance, I started to hear a hissing noise coming from one of my intakes. It turned out to be a loose blower wheel. I don't blame Hightower for this, of course, but I am certainly skeptical about this happening so quickly after a thorough maintenance which specifically included inspection of the blower wheel. The technician said that it is not impossible for a blower wheel to come loose all of a sudden, but my research into loose blower wheel issues reveals that most of the time this happens gradually. They also charged me $307 to replace it, despite a blower wheel for my unit only costing $30 at most. I can't help but wonder whether the price is that high in order to compensate for the "no fee" part of the guarantee. I just wish I could find one, totally honest and reputable company that doesn't eventually try to deceive me in some way. Surprisingly enough, Hightower is one of the few companies that has an excellent rating on the BBB and prior to my review here, not a single complaint anywhere. EDIT: I just received the $307 back from Hightower apologizing for my inconvenience. While I appreciate the generosity, I consider it more of a coupon for 4 free travel fees. I would have been fine if they kept that and just told me they wouldn't ever be charging me any travel fees as long as I perform the repair. Their office is literally a 10 minute drive from my house. read more
