First I was told it was out of freon which was a complete LIE. Then told we would need a new unit. Complete LIE. Paid their $200 fee for nothing. I get a text message a couple days later telling me that they were ready to make an appointment to come out and give me a quote on my new unit. I told exactly what happened and that my unit was fixed by someone else. Here is where their real professionalism comes in. I heard nothing back. Not a text. Not a phone call. They can't even try to make it right. The very least is an apology. Zip, zero, nothing.

Great experience with Detroit Metro Mechanical…read more We brought them in after our gas bill spiked nearly 10x and one tenant had consistently high heat while other units were fine. They quickly identified the issue as failed zone valve heads causing one zone to call for heat nonstop. The repair required temporarily removing the water heater to access the valves, replacing two zone valve heads, and restoring the system. Everything was handled efficiently and professionally. Since then, temperatures are balanced and gas usage is back to normal. Highly recommend for anyone dealing with boiler or zoning issues.

His excuse? A prior job ran long and he had "commitments" afterward. Instead of doing what any reputable HVAC tech would do--working late to ensure a customer has working AC--he chose to clock out on time and leave me sweating in a hot house. If you value your time and your home's comfort, don't risk it with this company. Booking here means clearing your schedule just to get a last-minute cancellation and a vague promise to maybe show up days later. Absolutely unprofessional and completely disrespectful. STAY AWAY! I…read morecontacted Absotemp because my air conditioner broke -- right before a heat wave. I was told that there was a service charge of $90 and was given a 4 hour window. Matt, apparently the owner of the company, came a few minutes after the end of that window, a couple minutes after 4:00 p.m. (BTW, he smelled of pot.) When he got here, he asked what the problem was & I explained that the air conditioner wasn't working. He immediatey went to the furnace. I told him I wasn't having trouble with the furnace, it was the air conditioner. He then proceeded to tell me that they are connected, my furnace is old and inefficient, and possibly dangerous. He spent a lot of time looking at it and taking pictures. He then got a phone call and was gone for about 15 minutes. He came back and continued explaining to me about the different kinds of furnaces. I reminded him that I called him about the air conditioner. He asked what kind of thermostat I had and then he finally went to look at the air conditioner. He said that was old as well (both were probably original and from the 1970s), but he couldn't figure out when. He called someone about tracing the model, but they couldn't do it either. He then came back into the house & said he'd go into his truck and write up an estimate. An hour and a half later, I went outside to see if he was still here. All of his prices were really high. And again, it was AIR CONDITIONING repair that I contacted him about. After he asked if I had any questions, I said, "I asked you to come out because of the air conditioning. Can you do anything about it?" He huffed and went outside. He came back in after a couple minutes and said that it was the motor fan and "There's nothing I can do about, it Sweetie." :O (That was the second time he called me that!) When I asked if he had any suggestions, he said "Stay in the basement." It was not said with humor. He then asked for a check ("or an ACH") -- AND HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING except waste nearly 4 hours of my time. I had 3 other companies come out after that. Not a single one charged for an estimate, they didn't take ridiculous amounts of time, and they didn't try to oversell me. Needless to say, I chose a different company.

Give me a 3 hour block of time, but call you 30 minutes before they were going to arrive so I didn't end up taking off any unnecessary time from work. On the phone they quoted me $90 which I thought was a little steep and I ended up paying $138. I got a new filter and a cleaning for the humidifier for an additional charge. The original $90 included the furnace cleaning and some wiring . But the bonus was that the technician also re-wired the termostat that my husband had incorrectly installed. I was also impressed that the technician put on booties to protect my floor in spite of the fact that, thanks to a kitchen remodel in progress, my floor was probably dirtier than his shoes. I plan to use them again.
