Once my acne was under control, I moved on to laser treatments to help with scarring and pigmentation, and the improvement has been life changing. This place truly feels like a second home. Every single provider I've seen has been kind, patient, and knowledgeable, and you can tell they genuinely want the best results for their patients. I also want to give a special shoutout to Marisol at the front desk, she is honestly the reason I love coming in. She is so patient, welcoming, and kind, and she always makes my day better the moment I walk in. Little things like that matter so much. My insurance declined the payment at the time, and Dr. James kindly gave me a discount to help me out. That left such a good impression on me that I continued coming back afterward. Even when I previously had an allergic reaction to medication prescribed here, I chose not to complain because I trusted this clinic. So when my lips suddenly became swollen this time, this clinic was still the first place I came to. Unfortunately, this experience felt completely different. The front desk staff simply kept repeating that I had to pay $150 and made no effort to communicate my situation to Dr. James. Ironically, when I explained my insurance situation to the doctor directly, he did try to check for me. After my surgery, I still had questions about the procedure itself and wanted to briefly speak with the doctor again, but the front desk just told me there would be post-care later. I understand doctors are busy, and I was completely willing to wait. I had just undergone a small surgery, asking to briefly speak with my doctor should not feel like asking for a special privilege. Her tone makes me feel like I need her approval and she is the security to guard the doctor. All of these was not an issue when I was in the DTLA location, the doctor always follow-up a little bit when I check out and both the cashier and front desk are friendly. Costa Mesa and DTLA locations gave me completely different experiences. After being a customer for years, what disappointed me most was that the attitude only became nicer after I expressed how upset I was. Why I should even have to argue with her when my lip is still numb? If the front desk staff's role is mainly financial and they do not have basic people skills, then they should not be in a front desk position at a medical clinic. A professional front desk staff member should at least show some level of care and empathy toward patients, especially patients who just underwent a small surgery and are already stressed or uncomfortable.

Leua was amazing over the phone, she was very calming, empathetic, knowledgeable, and helped get me the correct appointment to ensure I would get the proper check-up. This was a new situation for me and I admittedly was a bit shy and ashamed to ask for a certain request. She made me felt at ease and reminded me that I was here for care and that they had an amazing team. Jump forward to the actual visit, everyone was very nice and knowledgable. They asked the right questions and was able to get the check up I needed. Dr. Afsahi and his team were very professional and most importantly empathetic to my situation. Thankfully the situation was not as bad as I thought it was and turned out to be minor. They gave me a lot more information which really helps for someone like me who gets anxiety and constantly thinks what-if to many situations. They gave me the treatment and post-care information and even different things I can do to help prevent this from going forward since I travel quiet frequently for work and use many shared surfaces at different gyms, different hotels, different rental cars, and different airports that I use for over half a year. I did wait a little while over my appointment time but it was easily forgivable after seeing the amount of time Dr Hsu spends with patients (which makes sense why she can run behind). She was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. She didn't rush me at all and answered all my questions and was very thorough in her examination. Also a huge plus (because I've heard it's an issue with other offices) she wasn't pushy at all about extra treatments or products. She suggested things that could help but it definitely felt informational and not salesy. She even gave me a sample of skincare to try.
