We came here today because my parents moved to the area a year ago, and it had good reviews. I say that because this place is a rip off probably trying to get as much money from tourists as possible. The majority of our dining experience was average... the waitress suggested my husband get his sandwich on a Kaiser roll and asked us if we wanted to fill our daughters chocolate milk (this will be key later). My Philly cheesesteak burrito was good, mom said her veggie burger was good, my stepfather said the chicken in his wrap was tough. Nothing out of the ordinary and we even said when we come back we will try the khalua toast, etc. Then the bill comes. It's $71 which for 4 adults and a child no big deal, but the way the receipt is, it only has prices and not the description of what each price is for. They attached the pad the waitress scribbled on but that didn't explain some of the charges. So we give the bill back and ask what some of the charges are for. Couple minutes later they come out with a new reciept and said one of the duplicate 4.99 charges had something to do with the kids meal, and then she asked how many we ordered and said one kids meal so then she goes back again... now a different person comes back with a totally different reciept with different charges.. now there's two 2.99 charges and a.99 cent charge and we are like what are those??? $2.99 for the chocolate milk with the kids meal (what?? Ok sometimes you Ha e to pay for the kids drink separate..) and another $2.99 FOR A CHOCOLATE MILK REFILL FOR A KIDS MEAL THAT SHE ASKED IF WE WANTED AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION ANYWHERE THAT THERE WAS A REFILL CHARGE??the .99 charge? THE KAISER ROLL THE WAITRESS SUGGESTED BUT NEVER TOLD WAS A FREAKING UPCHARGE. this third person who was dealing with us was like well yes, those are upcharges and we were like no, no one said anything about extra, who charges extra for a roll for your sandwich?? So this third person takes the check and says let's see what we can do and a few minutes later a FOURTH person not the manager just hands us the bill, already charged on the card. The original bill with wrong charges was $71. There was $68 charged to my stepdads card. My mother was very angry and said we wouldn't come back and she spoke with the manager who really didn't care. He said "anywhere you go you should expect upcharges." We dine out weekly and rarely ever have a kids drink not included with a meal much less charged for a refill, or "upcharged" for a Kaiser roll.And, my mother has worked in food/restaurant distribution for over 30 years so she's not someone who doesn't already k ow the ins and outs of the restaurant business. He could care less that locals won't be back or recommend the place because they will continue to nickel and dime the tourists. The food was average so I would recommend someplace else along the beach who won't overcharge you for food that isn't all that. read more

Delicious. Our table ordered mimosas, breakfast quesadilla (with chorizo, onion, & jalapeños), shrimp & grits, and the java bowl. Everything was delicious, and we saw a right wale and dolphins playing while we drank mimosas waiting for a table. This is a don't miss breakfast/brunch spot. We will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I eat there at least once a week. We always get an egg white omlette with veggies! The omletes are always cooked to perfection and are great. The staff is always great and friendly. The place is amazing in that you always feel like home when you ar ethere with the magnificent view of the ocean. I recently ran into two of the waitresses in a local gym. They were nice as always! Staff like these two women are great for any restaurant. In short I love Java Joint! read more

Awesome view to sit out on the deck and have breakfast looking at the ocean. We had super good and healthy omlettes- they have a mahi-mahi omlette! AND tons of choices to go in there.... the hash browns are yucky- frozen Ore-ida ???? The bread super healthy- the service great. We went back for lunch, The Hawiian wrap was great- the mahi mahi sandwich rocked. The potato salad- SKIP it- cold mashed potatoes - old no taste. read more

Ate here 4 years ago, I still remember the food was really good and the view is amazing. I sat outside with the view of the ocean and had a nice breakfast. I like that their menu has advertisements of local businesses. I remember I went to eat here with my then boyfriend and I flipped the menu and his dad's face was staring back at me haha! We just had an extremely lackluster meal at Java Joint. We went there for a late brunch before heading to our flight at Daytona Beach airport. We were attracted by the high ratings and good reviews. We arrived at 12:40 and were shown to a seat inside. True the restaurant was busy with Sunday brunch patrons, but it was weird how once we were seated, no one came by with menus or silverware. We noticed other people seated after us had orders taken quickly. We observed that the servers served the people they knew (calling them by name) with great efficiency. Once we finally got some coffee and were sharing a Bloody Mary (made with Saki, which wasn't bad), no one came back for quite a while to give us a coffee warmer or take our order. When we finally had our order taken after flagging down a server, we were warned that they were extremely backed up and it would take at least 45 minutes for our order of crab cake Benedict and corn beef hash Benedict to be ready. After the food finally arrived 45 minutes later, the poached eggs actually had hard yolks like boiled eggs. They said they had run out of the crab for the crab cakes. It would have been great for them to let us know that so we could have ordered something else. Additionally, there was very little hollandaise sauce. We ate because we were starving by this time. Not sure what the problem was, but they were having operational challenges. We noticed there was hardly anyone in the restaurant by the time we had our food. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant. read more

We used to go at least twice a month but lately not much so we stopped in for breakfast this Sunday morning. Jason was very nice but service was unusually slow. Even for this place which has always been on the slower side. Food took about 40 minutes. Wife's Eggs Benedict were room temp. One of her two English muffins wasn't toasted. Her eggs were over cooked, no runny stuff. My order came without my home fries. Toast hardly had butter. Second coffee came after 10 minutes. We had to go in to find the check. Owners should have come round to inquire how it went but they can't be bothered it seems. 10-5-14 Update Yep. Still super slow but food is better this time. New owners now. What an awesome place by the seashore! This is a quaint cute restaurant that has really good breakfast. I had the breakfast quesadilla with a Mamosa and French toast. My boyfriend had the French toast breakfast. Everything came out hot and the service was really good. Everyone was friendly and it has a hippy vibe. A dreamy little dive with some great owners and an awesome view of the water. Their coffee is nothing fancy, but it's really good! I had a cappuccino. Their breakfast is also good. I had a quiche. It was delicious. Again, this place is not fancy. It's an affordable dive, with the dreamy vibe of Flagler Beach. If you're visiting Flagler, make sure to to stop by. Completely disappointing. Everything started out ok. We were a party of 6 and seated relatively quickly. The food smelled great and we were excited to order. We ordered a combination of coffees and mimosas. The mimosas were excellent, coffee was decent, but the beans didn't taste very fresh. I'm a huge Benedict fan so my choice was easy, but everything on the menu looked good. After we placed our order is when things went sour. The place was quite warm. Yes it's Florida. I get it, it's hot everywhere, but it really becomes an issue when drinking hot coffee, and unbearable when waiting for your food to come out for over 45 minutes. None of the waitstaff seemed to notice we were missing food. Then the table next to us that sat down at least 15 min later got their food. We were starting to get a little ticked off. Again the waitstaff took no notice of our lack of food or our grumpy faces. They wouldn't even stop by to fill our empty coffee mugs despite our best efforts to get their attention. The table who received their food before us did take notice and had to point it out to their waitress. They seemed to be regulars and were horrified at our experience. We finally received our food and it was good. That's the only reason I didn't give them one star on this review. The hollandaise sauce was good, eggs poached perfectly. My only complaint about the food would be the home fries. They were dry, probably frozen. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food as well. They were made aware of our long wait and lack of attention. Our waitress seemed to go missing for the second half of our meal and the staff was made aware of that as well. There were some apologies here and there, but they were all quick and in passing. No one really seemed to care. That became very apparent when at the end of the meal no manager or lead waitstaff came to speak with us, nothing was comped or taken off the bill, and to top it all off we had to wait another 10-15 min for someone to come around and take the check.
