The service was excellent and food comes out quick. Waitress (should have wrote name down) was super friendly, kept checking on us, and made the visit even better. Restaurant is right across the street from beach so it has very nice views. Prices are pretty cheap or reasonable (which is hard to find) The food was great and drinks were really good too. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area and I would visit again if I am ever back in the area. Note: the menu items are based off on them having a flat-top only (I.e. home fries but no French Fries). Excellent breakfast spot in Flagler beach! Started with a frozen mocha Java latte. Delicious and not too sweet! Ended up splitting the eggs Benedict and one of their specials (blueberry banana bread French toast). Both were excellent! Eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly and big eggs. Please note that this review is based on my visit nearly a year ago. I took good notes, though, and still wanted to share. And, those shrimp & grits are beckoning me ... On our first morning in Flagler Beach, we were disappointed that the restaurant next to our motel was closed. As we drove north toward the fishing pier, we remembered a snowbird at dinner the night prior had mentioned the Christmas parade was that day, so we continued driving north on A1A to escape the traffic. After spotting Java Joint, and noticing the crowded deck, I called to ask about the wait & also confirm that they offered dog-friendly dining. I was told dogs were welcome & the wait would be 45-60 minutes. But as it was a breezy overcast morning, we didn't mind dawdling. We ended up waiting only a few minutes after arriving, and enjoyed a table on the side deck with a peekaboo view of the ocean. I really liked that the tables here were far apart enough that Gilligan wasn't easily distracted by other diners. And service was good in spite of the crowds. The highlight for me at Java Joint was my half bowl of shrimp & grits. Those grits were deliciously thick & creamy, and had zero spice, which my conservative palette appreciated. And the giant shrimp were perfectly cooked. The combination was outstanding! I also ordered the breakfast burrito but that was a big miss for me. It was large, but the proportioning was terrible. The burrito had way too much potato which suffocated the eggs & cheese. And I love love LOVE potatoes. Hubs ordered a burger & really enjoyed it. The local-ish beer I chose was tasty. We definitely found a not-so-secret gem here in Flagler Beach, and I absolutely want those shrimp & grits again. We'll be back when we're on this stretch of Florida's east coast again. read more

I've come here twice now for breakfast while I'm visiting my mom in town. I really like the diversity of the menu options and the pricing is fair. The interior is very coastal/beach-themed. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I got the breakfast quesadilla (bacon, egg, cheese, peppers, and spinach) last time and it was super filling! It comes with a small side of salsa too. The omelettes consist of 3 fluffy eggs, which also looked filling. I only ate half of my quesadilla. This is a go-to spot when I go out to breakfast in the area. read more

That being said, the Java Joint stands out as my absolute favorite. Their menu is outstanding. Do yourself a favor and put the chorizo on anything calling for a breakfast meat. Outstanding! I'm gonna say my review is not because the food is bad but how it was handled. I went in letting them know I had celiac disease so I could not have any gluten. They had a lot of gluten-free stuff on their menu and I asked them if they would make a note so the kitchen could use precaution. I normally don't go out to eat a lot unless it's somewhere that I trust, but this was a special occasion. I ordered the classic Benedict with gluten-free bread instead of the English muffin. The server told me she would make a note and make sure that the kitchen knew. My food was brought out, and I popped the eggs open and when I did that. I realize there was English muffin on the plate. I asked if the English muffin was gluten-free or if the kitchen had made a mistake. She informed me that it was indeed a mistake and that she would take it back and have them correct it and make it gluten-free. Another server brought the replacement dish out, and I immediately noticed that it was number one the same plate and number two it had the eggs that I already busted open on it. The kitchen remove the ham and the eggs from on top of the English muffin and place gluten-free bread on the same plate that the English muffin was on and then put the same ham and eggs back on top. I was really upset when it came back out the second time because I was assured the kitchen would take precautions with an allergy order. obviously that's not the case since everything was cross contaminated. The meal was taken off of our bill, but I will say within 20 minutes of leaving. I was very sick so even the third plate that they brought out to me Did not have proper precautions. Was the food good, yes. Are they good with allergies or eating restriction, no. Just because they offer gluten-free items does not mean that they understand cross contamination. read more

Let me start by saying the staff is outstanding! They take care of you (and your dog outside) like royalty. Like you're the only table they have. The food is also outstanding. My daughter had one of their seasonal pumpkin iced coffees and it was very good. I don't really pay attention to coffee taste but the coffee was extremely good. Its always hot and they refill your cup before you get to ask. We had the crab Benedict and my daughter loved it. She's picky too. We had the eggs, potatoes and sour dough bread as our toast. Again, very good. As I mentioned, we were with our dog so we sat outside. The atmosphere is a cool beachy vibe. I can't say enough good things about the employees. It started to rain and the employees always kept a smile on their face considering they were working with the rain blowing. The outdoor area is covered. You can't go wrong eating here. read more

This is a bonafide brunch/lunch joint! Nice, rustic atmosphere by the ocean. We dined indoors on this hot humid morning. The wait staff is friendly as if you've known them awhile. Our orders came out pretty fast considering how busy they were. I started with a spicy Bloody Mary and man, was it ever spicy! Refreshing though. My half order of shrimp and grits was yummy with blackened shrimp over decadent creamy grits that tasted like a blend of grits and creamy gravy topped with just enough shredded cheddar. WOW! Amazing! My husband ordered the spinach and tomato Benedict with a side of those creamy grits. The poached eggs were perfect and he said the entire dish was fresh and delicious. We were looking for somewhere to grab a quick lunch in the Flagler Beach/Palm Coast area this past weekend and discovered this little gem on Yelp. First off, the beachside dining views here cannot be beat. The restaurant is elevated, so you have a beautiful ocean view across the street. I was really in the mood for seafood that day and my husband wanted breakfast/brunch food... around 1:30pm. Luckily this spot had the best of both worlds! We started with mimosas ("more champagne than juice" as stated on the menu) and a cappuccino. I got the mahi tacos and hubs got the Java Bowl (home Fries, scrambled eggs, your choice of cheese, one breakfast protein, a side of sausage gravy, and a croissant). My tacos were just ok but still satisfied that seafood craving. I think I'd opt for breakfast food next time because my husband's bowl looked delicious. We enjoyed the coastal diner style vibe of the place. It's clear that Java Joint is family owned & operated -- the entire waitstaff works together to serve everyone and they were definitely hustling. The service wasn't that great as they didn't check in on how we were doing and the food was mediocre at best. Our breakfast wasn't cooked that well as most of it was overcooked and the staff didn't seem to care that much.
