I have been a Chicoan for 6 months now, and it wasn't until a few days ago that I finally tried out Java Detour. "What stopped me?", you ask? Well, beleive it or not, what stopped me was their lame sign with the crossing guard on it directing me (and anyone else who sees the sign) to enter into its parking lot. It just struck me as bossy and stupid-looking, which pissed me off and made me want to avoid the place completely. (Passive-aggressive, I guess). Well, I found myself in the perfect spot to pull in the other day when I had my dogs in the car and was heading over to the DeGarmo dog park. I needed a drive-thru, because I don't leave my pups in the car alone and really, really wanted a coffee. So, I let the little bossy guy on the sign guide me into the parking lot and ordered a large hot mocha. I asked them to not make it overly sweet, and they were happy to do that. The woman who took my order seemed to like my dogs and offered me some dog cookies for them. Wow - how nice is that?! Anyway , the coffee was great and the service was great and I couldn't have been more wrong about Java Detour. I went back again a few days later on my way to the dog park and had another really nice experience - good coffee (iced mocha this time), good service and free dog cookies! I have another "go-to" place for a coffee now! Check it out!!! read more
