I think this is a great little coffee shop! The owner is always pleasant, always asks if my drink is to my liking and you can't complain about the prices. I'm not really sure what the confusion is on the livingsocial deal though. It clearly stated "coffee" and not mocha, latte or macchiato and states on the fine print: "Limit 1 per table per visit * Entire value must be used by same customer over 5 visits". What a great little coffee shop. In a world of sterile coffee distribution centers, this is a throwback to when cafes were ubiquitous. Places like this are hard to find. Some people, as evidenced in a few reviews, don't like places like this. Their loss. (BTW, judging the quality of a coffee shop by sampling their vanilla soy latte? Give me a break.) Very tasty products, a fine cup of espresso. High quality, locally roasted coffee beans that are treated correctly, so that you get a good, robust flavor, not burnt bitterness like to make other spots provide. Cute Cafe, neighborhood spot. Visited on an amazon local deal $7 for $15 for coffee and muffins. Ordered a white mocha and cappuccino and 2 muffins...The mocha was good, the cappuccino was more latte than cappuccino. Perhaps I should have requested it "dry", but I think a cappuccino should be espresso and foam, with the local vibe I would have given it 4 stars....BUT.... I was charged and additional $3.55 for the drinks (Owner stated the deal was for coffee only, not espresso?) I have purchased several deals from several merchant's before and this is the first I've heard of such a thing (there was no such description on the amazon local deal, The owner mentioned it was in the living social deal, but I bought on amazon!) If you want to work at a coffee shop I'd pick a different spot, no WiFi & it's too small for business privacy however small enough for a different kind of privacy like catching up with friends so long as you don't mind the normal ear hustle. Not only does Java Cherry have delicious coffee at great prices, the customer service is the best! It feels like a home away from home. They have so many tasty drinks to choose from. Not only the traditional drinks you might expect, but also unique ones like the bacon, bacon mocha. Along with the yummy drinks, they also have great treats to enjoy like Kahlua cake and Irish Cream cake from The Mad Batter. Wife and I were in the area, and decided we wanted coffee. Got on here and did a search for small shops (we didn't want dutch bros, or starbucks). We found Java Cherry and it was the closest one to where we were at. So we stopped in and stared at the menu for a bit, in awe at all the different drinks there were. We decided to go crazy and got the java cherry, cherry white mocha, and the chocolate covered strawberry mocha. Let me tell you, these were the most delicious coffees I've ever had. You'd think by the name that they'd be uber sweet, they weren't. They were perfectly concocted. We also had to try the red velvet Irish cream cake, OMG! The most delicious thing I've ever eaten. I was delighted that Java Cherry uses locally roasted Vaneli's coffee beans. If you know about coffee beans in the Sacramento area then you know Vaneli's bean is among the best. When entering the establishment I was greeted with a smile and a warm hello, I had one other customer ahead of me but it was nice to be acknowledged. While waiting I had a chance to observe the barista in action. She used what I call an, "old school" hand pulled espresso machine (not one of those push button machines found in the big chains). I knew right then this was a special place. The Coffee at Java Cherry was smooth (not burnt like other places). I find that the best way for me to tell the quality of the bean is to order just a coffee with nothing else added. The shop was clean and cozy, I look for how clean the shop is because that indicates a lot about how much the owner cares and believes in what they are doing. I'm giving this a 5 Star for how Clean, Friendly, Smooth Tasting, Price. It's hard to find gems like this anymore. read more

Am visiting my brother in Citrus Heights, drove by this unobtrusive little coffee shop and decided to give it a try. Going there every day now for my coffee fix while I'm here. The maple latte is like having pancakes for breakfast, the pumpkin pie latte tastes so much more like real pumpkin pie than the 'pumpkin spice' lattes I've had elsewhere. And the brown sugar/cinnamon latte is a nice alternative to regular cinnamon. The owner, Louise, is fun to talk to, as well. So glad I did not overlook this little gem of a coffee shop! read more

I live about a mile from this wonderful, cute, warm place. I am so opposed to paying a lot of money for coffee because i figure i can make it at home! Right??? NOT!! Fabulous service, owner was very personable and there was a varity of different flavors to select from. The inside was charming and the outside was as well. The coffee was great and kept me going strong all day. Since this business is across from a gym I would probably recommend leveraging that prime location and offer healthy green smoothies or protien drinks too. Just a thought. I have been driving by this place for the past 3 years and every time I stopped by they were closed. Today I took my two young sons for a long walk so I could try this place. I waited in line for about 10 minutes and there was only only one person in line ahead of me. The lady at the counter who I assume was the owner was moving extremely slow. Then this little old lady totally cut in front of me and the owner didn't even say anything to her and continued to help her. Quite irritating. Finally it was my turn and she kept talking to the other people in the shop and began washing the dishes. Her customer service was seriously lacking. Toward the end she finally acknowledged me and began some forced chatter. But the worst part was my drink. It was disgusting. I ended up throwing it away on my walk back. I have only been here once and unsure when I will have the chance to go again as I do not live near here or frequent the area, but if around and in need of refreshment, I will choose here! I needed a little pick me up on the way to training and did not want to go to a chain so I searched on Yelp for the best coffee in Citrus Heights and this place popped up. Why not? As someone mentioned, it is tucked away but not impossible to find. I immediately loved the decor and felt relaxed. I met Louise and I felt she was not herself (I am empathetic and can sometimes sense one's energy) and she finally shared her cat recently passed. Pets are our family and I understood. I let her talk and she took my order (requested a black and white). She had worked a job for a long time (in the financial sector I think - desk job and worked with money) and decided she wanted something else and decided to create this opportunity. She admitted to working A LOT and having to learn A LOT as she knew nothing about coffee when she started but she says she does enjoy it and one can sense that if you listen. Such a darling place! I love how much variety the shop has. The menu is usually packed with many different drinks. I love to get a drink and sit out in the front tables. Very homey feel, like what a cafe should feel like :). It's a good place to experiment many different flavors. Very sweet people work here! I just wish the service had been a bit quicker. I felt very valued and welcomed from the moment I walked in. I thought it was interesting that all of the drinks could be blended (not what you see in most coffee shops) so I decided to order a blended drink; the owner proceeded to tell me that the drink I ordered doesn't blend well. There are so many flavors to choose from, you can even make up your own. Coffee is so good, better than Starbucks in my opinion. The owner is awesome always makes sure you get it just the way you like. She even has buy 10 your 11th is free cards you can choose to take with you or if you are like me and lose them she has a little file book to keep for you.
