I have been going to Opthalmic Physicians of Monmouth for a few years now, and have always been…read morepleased with the work of both Dr Steinfeld and Dr Mardones. I have nothing but praise for them. This past visit I was at the front desk to pay my copay, asked if they could use my card on file and they said they couldn't they needed the physical card. I off hand mentioned I don't have it, I left it in my room, and I should get it. I used a different card and then began leaving. My ride told me they were delayed as I opened the door so I opted to sit in the office to wait by the door. What happened next leads me to believe that they thought I left. After one of the front desk members received a phone call from a patient they hung up, and began speaking negatively about said patient, which I hate to say I have heard before from the front desk. Then they began on myself, saying "and this one saying how he can't find his card in his filthy room, you're a grown a$$ man with gray hair, why do I have to hear that." So at this point I sat up straighter and I believe one of them noticed me as the conversation shifted. When my ride arrived I simply went up to the front desk, told them I will not be returning, and that if they are going to talk about someone they should make sure they are not in the room first, and then left. So if you go to Opthalmic Physicians of Monmouth, just know that the front desk WILL be speaking negatively about you. I am disappointed in the lack of professionalism, I understand everyone can have a hard day and express frustration however this is a pattern I have noticed from the front desk.

Several months ago I initiated an eye exam with a doctor Mullner, and it resulted in my being sent over to Craig the eyeglass person on the premises. He proceeded to sort of coerce me into getting a pair of glasses according to her prescription that had transitional capabilities, that were progressive, and it ended up costing me 860 some odd dollars for the pair of glasses and everything that went with it. Many weeks later, I went back for the glasses and they were not comfortable. I could not see distance properly. I could not get used to the transitional aspect of it and I tried; so I complained. I had a re-exam by Dr. Mullner and she accused me of being angry, which I wasn't. I was just straight to the point that the glasses were not adequate... that I needed to be reevaluated. I went back to Craig and tried to negotiate for at least a credit, but to no avail he claim that he can't lose money, bear in mind that I lost money here on inadequate glasses. He redid the glasses with only the ability for me to read. There was no other paid for feature except transitions. I then proceeded to dispute this with my credit card company and low and behold after a valiant fight, I lost the battle so I now have to pay the 800+ dollars on my credit card for glasses that were no good and people that were extremely rude and selfish. I would strongly recommend that nobody use An eye to the future facility. The people, especially Dr. Mullner and Craig who makes the glasses, were mean and nasty and not accommodating. I hope this has impacted a few people.

I can't see without glasses or contacts. I am on a limited budget and can't afford their "best price" on frames and lenses. The staff refused to give me the necessary information to purchase cheaper lenses and frames elsewhere. Outright refused and lied. Also to the lying staff, just an FYI - we all know you purposely deny supplying the pupil distance. You're not fooling anybody, we know how to use google. If you want more business, lower your prices (especially on your $200 no name frames you're making a dime on). That's business, adjust to the market. How dare you deny information to any customer to attempt to force business. You're disgusting.

My visit with Dr. Blumberg was great. He was very thorough and even let me know my old optometrist…read moreover prescribed one of my eyes. However, one of the men in the front desk area is very rude. He told me the frames I picked with the lenses I would need "wouldn't be up to his standards" even after I said that I accept the fact my lenses are going to be thick regardless and I might as well get frames I like on my face. The other pair I liked he said were the ugliest in the store. Trying on glasses is already not my favorite thing to do but having someone tear down my confidence while doing so really does not help at all. It was so bad that the women at the front desk actually apologized for his behavior because she saw how much he was starting to upset me with his comments. I did not walk out of there with a pair of glasses because of how small he made me feel in the moment. This is NOT a exaggeration at all. I am still giving Dr. Blumberg a 4 star review because he has hours that work for me with my commute and he himself was great to me. He should possibly re-evaluate his staff. I wanted to buy from a local Dr to support a small business but I couldn't get out of there faster and away from whoever the guy in the front was.

I was told that the next appoint was in mid November. I told the receptionist that I really did not feel well and needed it sooner. There was nothing she could do. I am so disgusted, if I'm calling to come in for other than a physical, it means that I am really sick. What kind of Doctor can not fit in sick patients. I am very disappointed and no longer recommend this office. I asked to have my records, I was told when I find a new Dr. I will need to sign a release. So insensitive and uncaring. I told her after weighing me to not tell me my weight since I have body image issues and don't like to focus on my weight number since it can be upsetting for me. That was the first sign of disrespect. Then she starts mocking my beliefs and morals that are linked to my diet. I tell her I suffer from anemia. She acts like she doesn't believe me and "how could I know that" my previous doctor diagnosed me with it? She then tells me that I do have it and starts telling me I'm malnourished. I asked her for advice on what to eat and she just starts listing things that I already eat. I tell her I'm depressed, have trouble sleeping and she offers no help other than "try Prozac" with a laugh. She then says I'm social and have friends so I'm fine. Completely disrespectful. She asked me if I was sexually active and before I could answer she just said no and writes that down. I tried to explain that wasn't the case but she didn't believe me? Or didn't take it seriously? It was so uncomfortable. I had a lot of concerns and questions about my health and when I tried to ask she cuts me off and tells me "I have other patients" and ended the appointment. What the hell. Don't go to her. My family sees other doctors there and are fine but don't go to Barbara.
