This was the best and most thorough review of my eyes and my vision that I have ever had. I met…read morewith Dr. Silberberg and he was outstanding and so was his staff! Dr. S clearly reviewed some serious eye concerns with me and he even corrected my contacts in the same visit! My contacts have never fit better, but most importantly he helped me with my serious eye concerns AND my medical issues that led to the concerns with my vision. Dr. S may focus on your eyes, but he is concerned with your overall well being and he certainly took several extra steps to try and help me. I am thankful for doctors like him! I live about 30 minutes away from this office and though there are other Doctors closer to my home, I went based on a recommendation from a friend and I would agree....THEY ARE WORTH THE EXTRA DISTANCE!

It was easy to book an appointment as a new patient- I sent an email and then called them to confirm my appointment and details. I was able to get in a slot within a week. There is a spacious parking lot in a complex (with Starbucks, Jersey mikes etc). I checked in, filled out the forms and in about 15 mins I was called in for my appointment. They had nice high tech equipments that I hadn't seen (and I've been to the eye doctors appointments for almost two decades) which felt very comprehensive. The doctor was thorough and answered all my questions and didn't make me feel rushed. Would recommend!

I feel sympathy for how clearly miserable they are, though they make it difficult. I'm profoundly disappointed to have to change eye doctors after going to the same place my entire life. They messed up my scheduling twice and then, when I got there, they adamantly told me I did not have insurance after going there with the same insurance for 15 years. They were only able to actually "find it" after I gave up dealing with their idiotic berating and left. The new optometrists and Beth and Irene from the previous staff are great, but the newer hires (who now make up most of the office) are awful. I have been going to this eye doctor since I was a child (seeing Dr. Lipchak) and had always enjoyed it, finding the staff reliable and friendly; however, since they rebranded as Clarkson Eyecare and changed their staff, my experiences have been extremely negative. After getting called into work, I tried to reschedule my annual appointment (which was on a Wednesday) to the following Wednesday, contacting the office a week out. After telling me on the phone I was scheduled for Wednesday, I somehow ended up in their system as scheduled for Monday; once I called back and was talked to as if I had messed something up, they told me they could take me at 10:10 on the Wednesday I was requesting. A little while later, I got a confirmation text for 10:10 on that Thursday. After once again being talked to as I if I was the idiot in this situation, I finally ended up at the office on the day that worked with my schedule. Once I got to the office, I was told that I either didn't have or they couldn't find my insurance -- it wasn't exactly clear. As aforementioned, I have been a patient at this office for well over a decade and have not changed insurance. I am under 24 and still on my mother's policy, but I, of course, have my own insurance information -- this seemed to be confusing and irritating to the woman at the counter. The lady was annoyed as she retyped my insurance information, telling me this could take a while, as if I were taking her up time as a new patient who she had to go out of her way to make a profile for. (They graciously let me know that it was my own fault I didn't know they had lost my insurance in their state-of-the-art computer system; a woman had called me at 4:50 the night prior to tell me so!) Trying to figure out my insurance, the lady who was 'helping' me eventually called over another receptionist, who decided to be meaner than the initial person I was talking to. I first dealt with the older (but new) receptionist and then a younger one. Talking about me as if I were not there, they debated "just putting the $20 copay through and, if she isn't covered, she can just figure that out on her own later." The real kicker is that I had insurance the whole time, but they didn't decide to try to figure that out until I walked out; while I was there, they just very curtly told me that "BUT YOU DONT HAVE THE INSURANCE. THATS WHAT WE ARE TELLING YOU." Apparently it was the insurance company (EyeMed) that had messed up; however, I don't believe that, because they would not have suddenly decided to be much nicer and patronizing to me if it were not their own fault. Overall, since the business has changed, I have personally found that the new staff is extremely incompetent and rude. I don't like leaving bad reviews, especially for a place I once thoroughly appreciated, but I do not want anyone debating dealing with these people to make the wrong decision or to spend $500 on glasses. (Side note based on another experience here: they have to give your prescription, including your PD. That is your personal health information that you are entitled to under the law; but if you ask for it, they will try to not give it to you, assumedly because you can take your prescription to Zenni or another online glasses distributor and purchase frames using insurance at about a 50th of the price at Clarkson.) The old staff, some of which is still there, has always been phenomenal. Even the new doctors are sweet and good at what they do. It's a shame the others ruined the place.

I can't see without glasses or contacts. I am on a limited budget and can't afford their "best price" on frames and lenses. The staff refused to give me the necessary information to purchase cheaper lenses and frames elsewhere. Outright refused and lied. Also to the lying staff, just an FYI - we all know you purposely deny supplying the pupil distance. You're not fooling anybody, we know how to use google. If you want more business, lower your prices (especially on your $200 no name frames you're making a dime on). That's business, adjust to the market. How dare you deny information to any customer to attempt to force business. You're disgusting.

My visit with Dr. Blumberg was great. He was very thorough and even let me know my old optometrist…read moreover prescribed one of my eyes. However, one of the men in the front desk area is very rude. He told me the frames I picked with the lenses I would need "wouldn't be up to his standards" even after I said that I accept the fact my lenses are going to be thick regardless and I might as well get frames I like on my face. The other pair I liked he said were the ugliest in the store. Trying on glasses is already not my favorite thing to do but having someone tear down my confidence while doing so really does not help at all. It was so bad that the women at the front desk actually apologized for his behavior because she saw how much he was starting to upset me with his comments. I did not walk out of there with a pair of glasses because of how small he made me feel in the moment. This is NOT a exaggeration at all. I am still giving Dr. Blumberg a 4 star review because he has hours that work for me with my commute and he himself was great to me. He should possibly re-evaluate his staff. I wanted to buy from a local Dr to support a small business but I couldn't get out of there faster and away from whoever the guy in the front was.

I have nothing but praise for them. This past visit I was at the front desk to pay my copay, asked if they could use my card on file and they said they couldn't they needed the physical card. I off hand mentioned I don't have it, I left it in my room, and I should get it. I used a different card and then began leaving. My ride told me they were delayed as I opened the door so I opted to sit in the office to wait by the door. What happened next leads me to believe that they thought I left. After one of the front desk members received a phone call from a patient they hung up, and began speaking negatively about said patient, which I hate to say I have heard before from the front desk. Then they began on myself, saying "and this one saying how he can't find his card in his filthy room, you're a grown a$$ man with gray hair, why do I have to hear that." So at this point I sat up straighter and I believe one of them noticed me as the conversation shifted. When my ride arrived I simply went up to the front desk, told them I will not be returning, and that if they are going to talk about someone they should make sure they are not in the room first, and then left. So if you go to Opthalmic Physicians of Monmouth, just know that the front desk WILL be speaking negatively about you. I am disappointed in the lack of professionalism, I understand everyone can have a hard day and express frustration however this is a pattern I have noticed from the front desk.
