Worst buying experience of my life! This review is long overdue - as I've been extremely busy planning my wedding. Very long story short - I bought an engagement ring for my girlfriend back in December for over $8k. I am by no means an expert at diamonds - but my fiancé told me that she saw black spots in the center stone after wearing it for a couple of days. I took it to a friend of a friend who is a jeweler - he taught me how to use a "loop" (the little tool that they look at diamonds with) and discovered that they completely screwed me over with a stone that was laced with black-carbon inclusions all throughout the stone. I demanded a full refund and gave my business to the guy who took his time to teach me how to look at diamonds. Dana - the GM at this location - has very bad business practices. Shady is the only word that comes to mind. Buyer beware. Stay away from this company. Also, do some research on google about their certification process on diamonds...very interesting. I wish I had looked into that beforehand. read more

Went in here to get my pandora bracelets clean. The sales rep greeted me and took my bracelet and took inventory of the items. Then she inform me it will be 30mins. Came back after 30mins and she ask if I wanted some water while she gets my bracelets. Overall I like the great customer service even if I wasn't buying anything. read more

Unfortunately I have to express hope displease I was with the level of service I received at this branch . Not so much from the associates but from the manager who made me feel like my concerns were irrelevant and that this was our fault . Some background here I've been a customer here for about 3 years purchased numerous items engagement ring , wedding bands , and special occasion gifts all with the extended warranty plan . Our problem began when I purchased an opal bolo bracelet . Shortly after it broke but we got the extended warranty plan so it was fine they repaired it but then it happened two more times both times they fixed it . This last time the opal broke off and they would not covered it . Even tho this item has broken 4 times now which is a clear sign that it's a bad/weak quality of product or craftsmanship . There is no reason why a bracelet should be braking so often . Still they refused to honor the warranty. He even went on to explain to me that if if I got a nail in my tire it's not the tires fault ... well if I drove over a speed bump I wouldn't expect the tire or bumper to fall off ...... terrible service . They didn't care or make me feel like a valued customer after all these years . I don't live in the area anymore but I still drive to mission valley because they were my preferred jeweler . This bracelet was actually the least expensive item I've purchased it was just the principal of the quality of service that I don't appreciate . Jared has been my preferred jeweler but after this experience I won't be returning . You buy something thinking it's of great quality and then go agarras and buy a protection plan that doesn't end up covering the faulty product . I came into Jared for an anniversary gift for my husband. He is in the Navy and has been stationed in Japan for the past year and a half, so when we are able to see each other it is rare and really special. I work as a flight attendant, so my schedule has been hectic as I've tried to find a gift for him before I fly out to Japan to celebrate our 2 years. I came into Jared today (the day of my departure) and was devastated when they told me the bracelet I wanted engraved couldn't be done until tomorrow. Richard, the man in charge of that dpt, saw how disappointed I was and told me he would push his other jobs up a bit so he could get me my bracelet finished by noon!! I was honestly shocked and so grateful! He finished the job as promised just an hour and a half later, and it brought me to tears! I am so appreciative that he was willing to make time for me and take such great care of me. I definitely feel valued and cared for in this shopping experience, which honestly felt like so much more! Horrible place. Went in to look around and was greeted by a greedy salesperson. When she wanted to shake hands I told her I don't do that. She then seemed to get offended and pulled her hand back abruptly. At that point, the security guard made a point to watch my every move in the store. I am an African American woman who makes over a hundred thousand a year, have a graduate degree, own property worth over a half a million and was treated like a potential thief because I have an aversion to shaking hands. This is a place I will never patronize again and would not recommend to other people of color. I'll stick with online shopping. At least, I don't have to be subjected to the behavior described above. I asked the person at the door if they had any colored diamonds (we were looking for engagement rings), she said she didn't know and asked us to walk around and she'd find someone to help us. After 10 minutes or so we decided to leave because they weren't helping us... then the manager comes over and asks us what we're looking for. I told him I wanted a 1carat yellow diamond radiant cut with triangle cuts on the side... he straight up told me "You cannot afford this" ..... ummmm how do you know what I can and cannot afford..... I proceeded to ask him, how much does something like this cost, he said: "at least $28 THOUSAND DOLLARS" ... WTF dude do you not know what the f you're talking about???? My husband bought the setting for my wedding ring from Jared's in January, 2011. Even though he was clear that we would be buying our stone elsewhere, the sales person proceeded to sell my husband the $169 extended warranty plan which includes lifetime resizing and refinishing. Over the past three years, I've had it refinished three times without a problem - until today. Jared's recently changed their policy, and since our Yehuda stone was purchased elsewhere, they could no longer honor the warranty for the ring. When I asked for the details the general manager, Harvey Williams, rudely told me to read the fine print. Instead of showing me, Mr. Williams informed me that the paperwork was provided at the time of the sale then proceeded to walk away. Luckily, the nice associate who was helping me prior, handed me the extended service plan information. After reading through the fine print and not finding anything, I asked Mr. Williams for clarification. A clearly agitated Mr. Williams proceeded to read out loud "all repairs shall be completed by us or by such other repair center of our choice", which apparently implies buying your stone elsewhere voids the warranty. Ok, I get it. Due to the policy change you are not going to honor my warranty -- so you'd think I'd get a full refund, right? Nope. Instead I had to haggle with him and his final offer is a prorated refund; I'm offered a few dollars in exchange for my lifetime warranty, which certainly won't cover the plan I now need to buy elsewhere. Frustrated I called Jared's customer service. After explaining what happened, the agent called Mr. Williams for clarification, and then proceeded to apologize profusely and offered a full refund. It is hard to believe that Mr. Williams would rather lose a customer than do what is right. My advice to you is shop elsewhere! I highly recommend Leo Hamel, they have beautiful jewelry and they value their customers. read more

I got a beautiful engagement ring (which is the only reason I gave them two stars - otherwise it would be zero). Whatever you do . . . promise me you won't get a custom ring at Jared. I wanted a band to match my engagement ring, however the manufacturer doesn't make a band to match. They told me they could make one to match and they reassured me that it would be ready by my wedding. I dropped off my engagement ring (to match it to) august first . . . and here it is late November and still I don't have the wedding ring. the problem though . . . my wedding was in September. It doesn't matter if they have a pretty glass case full of pretty rings or cappuccino while you wait. It only matters that you get what you're promised. I'm really hoping to have a wedding band by my first anniversary. read more

Oh dear. My husband's wedding ring broke (diamond fell out) so I took it in to be repaired on 6/6. They told me it would be repaired on the house. Today is 7/16 and I hadn't heard back from them so I called to find out where the ring was after all this time. They didn't have a record of the repair and told me at first that the receipt was the original purchase receipt when I knew it wasn't. It appeared that they had no proof that i had ever dropped it off. They asked me if they could sort it out and call me back. They did call back and said they had the ring and I could come get it. when I got there I was told there was a 50.00 replacement fee. I told them that they had said it would be on the house. They said they didn't know how or why I was told that. so I paid the 50.00 so I could have the ring back. After a month and a half, we have a replacement ring. I just wish I hadn't been made to feel like I was lying about ever taking the ring in for repair and that I was lying about the ring repair being on the house. BEWARE! FRAUDULENT PRACTICES. Where to begin... Unbelievable event #1: We were tricked into signing up for a jared credit card (we were never told we were signing up for a credit card, just signing up for a jared online account)...How did we sign up unknowingly for a credit card, you may be thinking? Because the sales associate filled it out for us, and on the actual application with all the information/signatures, there is NO MENTION THAT THE APPLICATION IS FOR A CREDIT CARD. At all. Unbelievable event #2: When we went to Jared to get a refund on our purchase, they gave us a refund, but not to the amex card we used to originally pay for the jewelry. Can you guess where the credit went?! Oh yeah, to the jared credit card that we 1- never wanted, and 2- never used. Never in my life has a credit for a purchase gone to a DIFFERENT ACCOUNT. How is that even possible? Unless the associates there are trying to scam you into using their cards. Unbelievable. I can't even believe this is a real story. Don't buy from Jared. "JARED.........THE GALLERIA OF HIDDEN AGENDAS." So, my husband bought me a fabulous ring (not from Jared) and when it got down to the wire we were running out of time to choose wedding bands. I strolled in one day and just happened to find a simple, reasonably priced band with pave diamonds. We got the warranty for free replacement for life of lost stones, etc. and it has been fine. Fast forward to a year later and I have had 1 of the pave diamonds come out (i.e. a diamond as big as one, single piece of glitter) so I take it in expecting to have no issues. First they couldn't find my warranty, and then after they did I was informed that due to the fact that I haven't taken the ring in for inspections every 3 months the warranty was not valid. First of all, we were NOT told of this stipulation when we purchased the ring, second, WHY would I drive across town to have diamonds the size of pin heads inspected every 3 months?!?!?! They were going to CHARGE ME over $30 to replace that ONE, ITSY BITSY, TEEEENNNYYYY TINY stone, and then proceeded to tell me that it wouldn't be done for a couple of days?!?! Not completely surprised though, you get what you pay for. I asked for the ring back, I will figure something else out than give them the satisfaction of repeat business. I went in to look at wedding rings. Most of the salespeople were with customers, but not all. I wandered around for 5 minutes looking and waiting. No one spoke to me. I waited 5 minutes more at a counter. Nothing. One saleswoman even looked away when I tried to make eye contact. I walked out after that. My recommendation is to at least acknowledge the existence of potential customers. I had a much better experience at the jewelry store I went to afterwards and will buy the rings there. Brought some wedding rings in for inspection, cleaning, and rhodium coating and couldn't be happier! Rhonda took great care of us and had lots of great advice and great information. Having the jewelery maintenance conducted in-shop is such a great benefit. Our other jewelry has to be shipped off to get its rhodium coating refreshed, and that usually means weeks without it. Definitely would come back for future purchases. It's also nice that you can fulfill your Kay jewelry inspections and service plans here. read more

Regardless, it only took 15 minutes before the gentleman helping me asked if I wanted to open a line of credit. Way too aggressive! I was also taken aback at the fact that the gentleman helping me warned me that all of the diamonds tend to look a bit yellow, because the walls of the store were painted yellow. "Unfortunately, a home interior designer designed the store." The most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Very poor customer service. Every customer deserves to be treated like they are valued. I understand Pandora bracelets take time, but make your customer aware that you cannot put charms on the bracelet BEFORE they purchase it. Also, don't sell Pandora jewelry if you are not equipped to take the time to put charms on it. Well ,where do I start. My son-in law bought my daughter a wedding band and engagement ring and matching ring for himself from Jareds. BIG mistake. His ring has turned black and they tried to say he must be a welder. He is a disabled vet and is a stay at home husband.my daughter has taken her ring in envy 6 months for cleaning and checking. Fast forward to October 2015 we were on a cruise ship and my daughter noticed the diamond was missing from her ring. When she got home she went into the San Diego store and a very rude woman said they had no record of her ever coming to have her ring checked and they were vry sorry but they would not be replacing the diamond even though she has insurance on it. So I contacted the CEO of Jared 4 times and never got response back. Finally I sent one more letter threading to go to Turko files and I got a call from a manager that said if we came in they would send the ring in and that would take several months and we would still have to pay for the replacement of the diamond. After reading other reviews , everyone says not to let them send your ring in. So do not believe there T.V ad's. There jewelry is not guaranteed. They treat there customers terrible. Horrible experience, go to another jeweler, any other jeweler. So I just proposed and I'm now engaged but unfortunately got the wrong size engagement ring for my fiancee. I called around San Diego to some different jewelers and decided to go to Jared to get her ring resized. Upon entering I spoke to an associate about resizing and she took the ring to one of the "experts" in Jared to get an opinion. I told him I bought the ring online from diamondfoundry.com and it was a manmade diamond. He quickly went through the list of reasons on why anything other than a mined diamond is a poor choice in front of my fiancee. He next quoted what he thought I paid for the ring, also right in front of my fiancee. Next he said "What if she leaves you, she can't even resell it because it would be worthless". We went from being on cloud 9 to the dumps in the matter of a couple of minutes. He then said I should return it and get one of their engagement rings, come on!!! You would think someone that claims that they've been in the diamond business for over 30 years would know how to deal with customers, nope. I will never shop here again and I'll tell everyone I know to avoid this place. I ended up going to another jeweler not far away and had a great experience. Jared's sucks!!! read more

i accompanied a friend to jared on a sunday afternoon. upon entering the empty gallery, we were warmly greeted by the security guard then proceeded to the first/center counter, glanced around to get the lay of land, looking for a sign or person who could point us in the direction of repairs/sizings. after a few minutes of looking lost, a gentleman standing in the center studying some document looked up and gruffly asked if we had been helped. when we answered, 'no' he bellowed to the back room, 'can one of you come out here?!' a young man nervously emerged to assist my friend, who needed her ring sized. i turned to browse the rest of the showroom. as i made my way around the engagement/wedding ring displays, the same gentleman who demanded our assistance argued loudly with a lady-employee about some paperwork. they went back and forth a bit - he briskly narrated the situation in which he supposedly handed her the now-missing paperwork, huffed and puffed and walked away. the whole atmosphere was tense and un-welcoming. i don't care if you're the owner or manager, you don't YELL for your employees across your showroom. you don't bicker about paperwork in the middle of your showroom. you just don't. after a long wait - the salesperson couldn't find the original transaction in their archaic system; which wouldn't be worth mentioning had the experience been otherwise pleasant - my friend and i hurriedly left, feeling like kids who just witnessed their parents' argument. i, personally, will not step foot back in this establishment. bad form mr. manager man. you are grossly unprofessional. read more

My niece and I walked in store to look at some wedding rings. There were 3 ladies standing around talking to each others. They saw us looking at the diamond rings, but no one came to greet us or even asked if we had been help or not! We thought if we waited at little one of them will come but nope. Jared's quality and service is below par. My chain broke twice within the first three months I bought it. The store management constantly tried to up-sale me on the chain and the maintenance plan (which cost 30% of the original purchase). The management made promises to fix it for free and then said I'd have to pay after I already paid $32.33 to fix it the first time. The manager Harvey argued with me saying I must buy the maintenance plan. I came into the store asking that they make right on their chain that has broken twice in as many weeks. All Jared's wants is for me to spend more money. I will never buy from Jared's again and I don't recommend it to anyone. ps- After posting this I read the other poor reviews and see that it's store policy to have bad quality and customer service. read more

Ok. I know those Jared commercials are pretty lame (and apparently others have made note of this), but I have to say that Jared does provide the best: a) service b) quality and c) prices. Over the past year I have spent some quality time at Jared's due to the fact that my boyfriend bought me an engagement ring there and then we went back to buy our wedding rings. Every time we have been there, their service was nothing less than exceptional. Plus I love the Jared policy that allows you to pay some money upfront for free cleanings, etc. for the entire time you own the jewelry. I have to admit that we did check out several other places to buy the wedding bands and (no surprise) Macy's had marked up the same band that was $250 at Jared's to $750!!!!! Of course with all of the weird discounts (40% off that day, 10% off for some reason, 20% off for wearing red, and $60 off for opening an account) it came out to about $337 or in that realm. Still I just want to see the price upfront. I have found that Jared has great quality jewelry but at reasonable prices upfront - no BS. The staff also knows generally what they are talking about - very knowledgeable. I am just not sure why they think anyone would find those commercials appealing. Memorable? Yes. But they might keep you away from their store. . . read more

I am not overly impressed with Jared's follow-up. I got my wedding band from here, which I really like. It was simple and pretty, and looks very nice with my engagement ring (which came from Robbins Brothers). The wedding band was a reasonable price, and I got the warranty as recommended. I have taken it in regularly since my wedding 2 years ago. However, while my initial purchase experience at Jared went very well, things have gone downhill from there. I take my rings in to be inspected, cleaned, and dipped at the stores where they were each purchased at the same time, of course. What a difference between Robbins Brothers and Jared!!!! The last time I took my rings in, Robbins Brothers' staff greeted me immediately, and had my ring completely taken care of, looking like new, within 10 minutes. That same day, I took my wedding band to Jared, was greeted in a less-than-enthusiastic manner (even though the store was not busy at the time), and was told that it would take several hours before I could get my ring back. (This doesn't makes sense, since my wedding band has only one diamond, and my engagement ring has 9 larger diamonds! But at least I didn't have to wait 2 days like the last time I took my ring into Jared....) Then, when I returned later that evening to pick up my ring, it took over 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me! There was another young woman just waiting to pick up her ring as well. Both of us stood there for quite some time before anyone helped us. We could have been in and out very quickly, but we had to wait for some very indecisive shoppers to look at a bunch of rings before anyone bothered with us. In the meantime, a couple of other sales associates just looked through us like we were ghosts. I commented to the other young woman that it felt very much like standing in the express check-out lane at a grocery store, with only one item, and having to wait behind someone with 35 items and a bunch of coupons. She agreed, but pointed out that we didn't even need to pay for that single item, because we had already paid. She remarked that we just keep paying and paying (with our time, that is). It's unfortunate that customers who may not be making a purchase right then and there are given such second-rate service. The reality is that I was also looking to purchase another piece of jewelry as a gift, but I have decided not to buy anything more from Jared because of how they take care of customers after they have gotten our money. I came in with nine diamonds in my ring and left with six. Everyone responded suspicious when I asked about it. I have had the rings for 4 year never no problem. After I got my ring back in irratates my finger. The quality of the ring is not the same and it was too big.I dont believe they gave me the correct ring back. Prongs are off on this one. The guy in the store didnt asked who helped me or my name. NOTHING! Didn't even want to serve me any more in the store. I wasn't even rude about it. We stood at the counter for about 5 minutes and then left. Their selection of wedding bands was significantly smaller than Robbins Brother's and their service is the worst! My (now) husband and I decided to get married a few weeks ago... well, we decided to elope and wanted to get nice (read: simple) rings that we would have in time for our wedding (we planned the whole affair in a week). We had been told many times over that Robbins Bros was the best choice in town and we shouldn't even bother thinking about anywhere else. Well, we had to make a stop at Target one morning and decided to check out Jared since it was right there, and boy was I glad we did! We were greeted by Annie when we walked in the door and it was a no pressure greeting (which was a big plus for both of us). We wandered around, found some rings that we both really liked and when we were ready to talk some more about choices, Annie was there to answer all of our questions, search out options for us and all around be a HUGE help! We both found rings that we absolutely loved (and ended up buying) but didn't want to commit to the first rings we found and figured we still had to check out Robbins Bros given all of our friends reviews. When we left the store, she was completely understanding of our desire to check out their competition, gave us her business card, put the rings on hold for us and said that she hoped she'd see us later that day. Seven stores later.. we were back at Jared buying the first two rings we had chosen with Annie right by our sides helping us each step of the way. They fitted my ring in an hour and half and the rings both turned out perfectly! We have now been married for just over two weeks and have already received a thank you card and personal congratulations from Annie and the store. Yes, the theme song absolutely blows but given both the prices (which we found quite reasonable and significantly cheaper than any other store- besides Robbins Bros) and the ABSOLUTELY STELLAR customer service we received from start to finish, we are both extremely happy that we made the decision to get our rings from Jared! read more

Had only a brief interaction with Jared, but that was enough to convince me to stay away. I saw an aquamarine necklace at their online website that I liked. Online reviews, however, said the actual color of the aquamarine stone is different than the picture. Went to the store in mission valley, San Diego to ask about the stone. I asked about the necklace and was informed it is only available online. I started asking about the color of the aquamarine and the lady assisting me walked away mid-sentence with 'go look online'. Beside poor salesmanship, that was downright rude. At least hear me out. Jared is not cheap and for the money, you should expect at least basic customer service, let alone basic human courtesy.
