I normally don't write reviews however after this experience, it felt necessary. I went into Jared's to pick out a birthday gift for a loved one - I was in a hurry so I showed up in a baggy t-shirt, hair up in a bun, and sweats. Not my best look but I didn't think it mattered - but as soon as I walked through those doors, I was wrong. All eyes on me as if I was going to steal something, no one greeted me, didn't even ask if I needed any help, just stared as if they were disgusted, entitled, and couldn't believe that I just walked in. Why the 5 stars then? Let me tell you about Mr. Chan. After feeling like I was being judged, I felt unwelcome, seconds away from walking out, I hear a man's voice asking if I needed any help with a smile on his face. That man was Mr. Chan. He didn't care what I was wearing, was sooooo patient with me, answering all my questions, allowing me to see and hold all the different items I was interested in. He was so wonderful, all the 5 stars go to him. He never gave me a funny look or made me feel judged, he was very welcoming and extremely kind. If it wasn't for him, I would've walked out and never thought about going again. Whenever or if I ever decide to go again, I will know exactly who to go with to help me with my purchases. And for the rest of the snobby and entitled staff, they need to pull that stick out their ass and realize that a happy customer is a paying customer. Every six months we take Becky's rings in to Jared Mission Valley for cleaning and maintenance. The customer service has been stellar and the cleaning thorough. It typically takes less than 20 minutes from the time we enter the store to the time we leave. The rings always look shiny and new. Be aware, you have to be buzzed in now. Push the intercom button to the right of the door to alert them that you're there and someone will buzz you in. I'm guessing this is in response to the rash of smash and grab jewelry thefts of late. read more

Update! It is now August and has been about two months since contacting Jared's about my engagement ring that I sent in to have inspected and resized and received back broken and poorly repaired without my knowledge. When I brought the ring back to Jared's they attempted to rework the repair. They were unable to get the ring straight again, or to completely conceal the area where the break occurred. Ultimately we agreed that no amount of rework would ever be satisfactory, and the store agreed to approach the original designer (Neil Lane) and have another ring produced as this was from a retired collection. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it enabled me to purchase the matching wedding band that was not available when we bought the engagement ring. The fabrication of a new ring from Neil Lane was anticipated to have an extended lead time, and I was offered the opportunity to have my reworked ring back to wear while waiting for the replacement. While wearing my reworked ring the band snapped (under normal wear-and-tear, not extreme circumstances). When the replacement band came in and I was asked to drop off my broken ring so they could swap the diamonds I asked if it would be possible for me to keep my broken engagement ring for sentimental reasons. I was told that due to Corporate policy that wouldn't be possible, and that if I wanted to keep my ring I could do so by purchasing the replacement for a discount. I understand that there is value in the metal and small stones in the band, but the market for those is not near the price quoted for my broken ring. The truth is that my broken ring has the highest value to me, and that value is for sentimental reasons not monetary ones. I DO want to give some credit to the sales staff for graciously dealing with customers who are dissatisfied with services they received from the repair department. I've been working with Gina and understand that while I'm not happy with Corporate policy or the way that my case was managed, there are lots of factors outside of her individual control. She's been communicative and gracious and has shown tremendous empathy for my situation. I'm thankful I have the "Jared Cares" insurance policy and wouldn't hesitate to purchase jewelry from them in the future. If you are in need of repair services for something not under warranty I highly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

2 stars for prompt service but rude customer service. Easy to provide quick service when we arrive before the store opens on a Sunday morning and we're one of very few people there. Gentlemen who opened the door for us and helped us with our transaction had a very condescending tone. He had two very off putting remarks and energy like he was speaking to his red headed step child. Not going to mention his name because we're all human and have bad days. My wife then inquired how his day was going and clearly he was dealing with issues outside of work and some at work. Still, that's no reason to direct his problems towards us. Probably not ideal to be in sales acting like that. Short answer: Yes, I recommend this Jareds! Long answer: Not sure why they have such bad reviews, but I have always received great service from these folks. I'm usually great at keeping up with my jewelry that have the extended service plans where I need to bring them in for inspections every 6 months. Life got busy for me these past couple of years and I lost track. I had a ring that lost a diamond and I was just past my 6 months inspection mark so it wouldn't be covered under the plan and would cost be at around $200 to repair. Ricardo, who tended to us, spoke with his manager Richard, who was able to make an exception and get it covered this one time. I was so relieved and thankful! I see some negative reviews but have never had a problem with any of the staff here. I have never been a fan of large jewelry store chains but Jared in Mission Valley changed that... Leji is an absolutely wonderful person. She helped me with multiple items and informed me of their typical sales cycle. It's crazy, 20% discount on gold is fantastic. I think some of the negative reviews may be slightly misplaced. People go to jewelry stores and are very emotional... buying jewelry is an emotional experience. Ultimately the important characteristics of jewelry are quality, durability, and value. I have purchased items ranging from custom pieces, to cheap silver... We resized and engraved our wedding bands here and we got taken for a ride. We assumed their prices were fair and that's on us, but they are 4-5x the prices of other reputable jewelries. However, during my pick up I was greeted by Maria who completely ruined my experience with Jared. She had the worse tone as soon as I walked in. Contacted Jared support in May to finally get it fixed, being told because I did not bring it in for 6 month "inspection" it would cost money to repair. Waste of $700. Need to bring it into a physical store for a 30 min inspection just to be told how much it will cost me. Richard helped me pick my engagement ring. I had a general sense of what I wanted, but needed direction as I have never shopped for an engagement ring. Richard went above and beyond to assist me from start to finish. Firstly, I own and operate my own business, and with that, I have very limited free time. Richard worked with my schedule, and when we just absolutely could not meet up face to face because of scheduling, would send me pictures of diamonds, their certificates, and why he was recommending the ring / setting / cut. I had absolutely 0 knowledge of diamonds before meeting Richard, and now, I can hold a conversation with any jeweler. He explained what the difference was between cuts, clarity, colors, and carats, and how they affect price, and different ways to play with those qualities to attain what I was looking for, in the price I was planning to stay within. All in all, Richard held my hand through the entire process, and not one time did I feel I was bugging him, or asking too many questions, or rushed. I ended up with a diamond, band, and setting Richard recommended, that I was ecstatic about, and in the price range I had in mind. This is an emotional review for me, but if I can help one person than it is worth it. I was given a engagement ring/wedding band by my husband 6 years ago. It's a beautiful ring. He spent a LOT of money on this ring. He was told at the time of purchase that gold/diamonds are a lifetime investment, that the ring will only grow in value. He purchased the ring with their warranty plan. A plan that states you need to come in every 6 months for inspection to keep the warranty valid. I have been diligent and come in as required and for the majority of my 6 years have had no issues, at least up until the last year. I have been to the store 4 times in 12 months, and am in need of going again. 2 of the times were for the same problem, one of the prongs holding the main diamond was completely removed, leaving only 3 prongs holding the most valuable part of my ring. (Currently the SAME problem) My husband and I decided to visit the store together and we spoke with the GM. His response along with another sales clerk is that "this ring is no longer working for you and let's replace it". What?? How do you replace a ring that you were married with? How is this the response that's openly accepted? After much debate the gm brought out the lead repair man whom stated that it's too vlbe expected that gold breaks down and that because I have the addition of rose gold in my ring its weaker than most metals and this will just continue to happen. I'm baffled by this as I have hand me down jewelry from my grandparents that are decades old, not 6 years, that have never had these issues. I could go on and on with my story but please don't trust Jared and it's associates with something as important as jewelry for the ones you love. I'm stuck with them, I have no option but to continue to have my broken jewelry repaired with them, or just accept a replacement. In which they don't even have my ring to replace. We worked with Lejia specifically, and I want to compliment her on her pleasant demeanor and exceptional customer service! Personally, I was preparing mentally to have to battle someone trying to sell me a ring I wasn't 100% sure about, but Lejia was not that way at all. Once we determined the styles we liked best and communicated our ideal budget, she helped us narrow down some options, and I could tell she was on our team helping us find something we loved. They never answer the phone(when asked in person after calling multiple times -said they were too busy) or fix what they say they will in the time they say they are going to. I'm usually never one to write a bad review but today was by far one of the most uncomfortable customer service experiences that I have went through. The lady helping me out was named leyghey (I don't know if I spelled her name right!) she was so amazing, kind, and helpful. I give her 10/5 stars. Although I loved her there was another lady working named Emma. She talked to leyghey as if she were a child and was so mean to her that it made me extremely sad to be there. No one deserves that treatment! Such a sad lady to be treating others like that. I do hope management see this and teaches her how to treat another human decently. I just went into this jewelry store to be sized for an engagement ring. Most people know that this is generally a joyous occasion, planning your future with somebody. The sales associate who "worked" with me was a young woman who was clearly not interested in working with me once she knew that I wasn't going to buy anything. At one point she rolled her eyes and turned around to find a ring sizer after my questions seemed to bug her. Finally she went over to an older sales associate who was very kind and helpful and basically asked her to help me because she was annoyed with my questions. What a shitty way to treat a prospective customer. Definitely not cool behavior, she's probably 25 and has no idea what life is about yet. An older gentleman sales associate to my right was standing there talking about how much money he wants to make. Found that kind of tacky too. read more

I used to enjoy shopping shopping there until October 2018. I don't know the guy's name, but when I returned there because some earrings I purchased from there needed to be repaired, the guy acted like I stole the damn things because I didn't have the receipt. I had to force him to look me up in their system, while he kept lecturing me about having my receipt. The wonderful sales woman that sold me the earrings assisted him and informed him I was authorized a one time earring replacement and he seemed annoyed with that. The paperwork was FINALLY completed and I was told I would receive a phone call when my earrings arrived. I hadn't heard anything by late November, so I went in and a new lady assisted me this time & she too acted like I was trying to do something illegal. She blew me off and told me that someone would call me when the earrings arrived. By mid December I still hadn't received a phone call, so I went back to the store. The lady that blew me off I'm November was in the store & she remembered me. She tried to dismiss me again, but I was very insistent at this point. She FINALLY did some due diligence and discovered the order was NEVER processed. At that point I was angry. She called around & found the earrings locally and said the would be delivered soon. I did receive a phone call a couple of weeks later, informing me earrings were there. I just picked them up today. Went in for an inspection and cleaning of my wedding band. Karen greeted me right away with a friendly smile, and asked how she could help. After I gave her my wedding band to inspect and clean, Richard, the general manager came over to greet me. Both were very pleasant and helpful. I had brought in a simple, sentimental necklace which had a broken chain. While I waited, I asked if they could take a look at it. After looking at the chain, Richard asked if he could take it in the back to his jeweler. They were back there for some time, but when Richard came back, he informed me that his jeweler; also named Richard was able to fix the chain. I was so happy. I stopped by for an appraisal. That's what this review is for, so... move along brides to be unless you need an appraisal for your insurance. By the way, you need to insure that rock! It's been a few years and I decided to change insurance companies for my engagement ring, so that means it needs to be re-appraised. My insurance company's rep advised me that Jared did hers for free. I'm feeling like that might have been for advertising. I was instructed that I had to give up my ring for a day or so and that it would cost over $200 for the comprehensive 10 page report. Feeling like I was a bit mislead and a little scolded a la "Pretty Woman," I walked. That's ridiculous.
