Its a large…read moresoftplay with a dedicated area for babies and toddlers, a netted football / basketball area, a big (and very scary for us wimps of mothers) slide, several ball pits, soft stairs you name it - it is in there! The equipment is clean and in good repair and whether my 2.5yr old son is there or my 8 year old nephew - there is something for both of them! Peppered around the room are numerous coin slot type rides (which generally the kids play on without them moving!), some fake tattoo machines, bouncy ball machines and a teddy grabber. All extra expense but I've heard a thousand times Mums & Dads tell their little ones that it's broken Darling so most of us get away with not handing over the pennies! The food is impressive - everything from chips and chicken nuggets, veggie chilli and rice, hot panini's fish fingers - HUGE baguettes, salads, home made soups and a large choice of drinks, icecreams and sweet cakes etc. They do have some gluten free items available too. The food is somewhat on the pricey side but of a high quality and very decent portions. There are three toilets, one being a disabled / baby changing room and these are kept clean and tidy. Funky Farm also caters for themed parties and although I've never attended one I have been there when they have been on and they seem well organised and a lot of fun! Opening times are 10am - 6pm Tuesday - Sunday. There is plenty of private parking for patrons.

The Forbidden Corner takes twisted imagination, and turns it into genuine childlike wonder. It's a take on traditional country gardens, walled around the outside, with some interesting things on the inside. Within the twists and turns, there's lots to see, including bears playing cards, frogs on a fountain, a talking crow, and so much more. I'm not going to go into more detail there at risk of spoiling the surprise. So, why should you go? You should go if you want to rekindle your childhood sense of whimsy, of discovering hidden things, of exploring, of secret passageways and concealed paths. You're bound to find something here that makes you smile! There's both a café and a restaurant on site. The café serves the usual sandwiches, pies and pasties, wholes the restaurant has a more extensive menu. You can also take picnic, but can't eat it inside - there is a picnic area outside, and your ticket let's you go in and out as many times as you want. To go, you have to book in advance and pick a time slot. There isn't a limit on how long you can stay in, just when you can enter. I'd suggest booking as soon as you can, and picking out an early time. We spent about five hours, and that felt like a good length of time to be there. I'll be going back in the future - it was great fun, and well worth the trip.

I visited Big Sheep Little Cow while staying in the area on a family holiday…read more This is a great attraction with lots to keep the kids and adults entertained. There is an excellent indoor play area, some outdoor play areas with go karts and ride on trikes..., and of course a huge selection of farm animals for your little ones to learn about. There is a cafe serving lunches and refreshments, and a party area upstairs. It cost us £24 for two adults and my three year old to access the playbarn and go on the farm tour, and my one year old went free. You can pay less just to access the playbarn, without going on the farm tour. This seems to be a great spot for parent and toddler meet ups. The farm tour was really excellent - lasting around an hour, with the opportunity to hold/pet mice, rats, Guinea pigs, and hedgehogs in the indoor small animal section. We then moved outside and saw goats, llama, pigs, donkeys, Shetland Ponies, sheep, chickens and ducks. There was lots of opportunities for the little ones to interact with the animals such as brushing the pig, sitting on the Shetland pony and feeding the hungry lambs. We all had a great day out at Big Sheep Little Cow and my three year old in particular got to try out new things through interacting with the farm animals. Special mention to all the lovely staff we came across - everyone was so friendly, and we all left smiling!

A great day out - or party destination. Dry or wet weather.

I had my daughters birthday party at Kinderland on the 19 Feb. We live in Essex and my family live…read morein Hull, so we decide to celebrate her birthday here. There is only 5 children so, I rang ahead and asked if we could reserve a table and have our own cake ect. We did this last year and they were very accommodating. However, after my mother and sister being rudely told no, we don't reserve tables, I rang and was told the same, more politely but was told that the children could have a discount on their meals. When we arrived I told them about the telephone conversation and was rudely told by the Manager, that no you get no discounts. I said we have 16 adults using your cafe, so couldn't we have any consessions? From there it just got worse. The food took 45 minutes to arrive. There was a sign a small one, but the staff didn't mention it when ordering. They gave the kids meals without the sandwiches, (they took 45 minutes to prepare) so of course the kids ate the crisps, chocolate ect. first. After complaining about the length of time it took for the food. When we did my daughters cake, I asked them for a knife and they told me they had to cut it and had I blown the candles out yet as I was not allowed as it was company policy as I hadn't paid for a party. I was also not allowed to eat the cake. I said we'd already blown the candles out, thankfully. I then got a story about health and safety policy, which I then said that there was too many policy's and that it was over the top. I wouldn't be coming here again and left and cut the cake elsewhere. They certainly will not be getting my business or any of my families in the future. It really spoiled the day.

I found out about it one through the latest small talk publication and thought I would give it a try as they always seem to be popular choice of activity for my little ones. The directions given in advert were easy to follow and had no trouble finding the place except finding the entrance and car park was slightly more difficult. You need to past the little Legz building and take the next left and then the first left takes you round to the car park just outside the main entrance. Directions can be found from their web site and I will give the address at the end of my review. My first visit was a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed full with children of all ages having a great time. The admission price is a quite reasonable £3.70 for 1-3's and £3.95 for the over 4's. I also notice they do toddler session weekday mornings at a reduced rate which also includes a meal and a drink which seem great value. The place has a very lively atmosphere and is decorated in bright and colour designs which will a appeal to children. There is plently of seating for the grown ups and even a chilled out area with sofa's and sky tv so you can leave the kids to get on with playing a sit back and relax knowing they are safe. There is cafe for drinks, cakes and also meals can be ordered too from the menu. It is important to remember to take your socks as sock must be worn at all times in the play area and you wont be allowed on with out them. There is main play area as well as smaller section for younger toddlers. At busy times I would recommend keeping a close eye on younger children in the larger play area as the bigger kids tend to run around with out much notice off the smaller one as they are too busy having fun. I found my little one got banged a couple of times so I moved them to the toddler area where they were fine. This is a great place for kids mine were smiling the whole time. They loved the slides best of all but had fun in all the areas. A good time was had by all my family and I certainly will be heading back there soon. Admission Prices: Under 1's Free 1-3 £3.70 4 and above £3.95 Opening Times 6, Matrix Court, Leeds, LS11 5WB Telephone Number: 0113 2702747

I love this place. It is lonely, lovely and quite exhilarating to visit…read more The maze commands a panoramic view over the Humber countryside. One theory is it was created by medieval monks, it sits adjacent to the site of an older 7-ringed celtic maze .The relic is 44ft. Also nearby is the old 'Kell Well', now nicely renovated, and a very curious stone in the village churchyard (said to be the remains of a stone cross, carved into a 'spiral' by years of sword sharpening!).an earthwork known as Countess Close above it. No-one knows who originally cut this 12 metre maze (technically a Labyrinth - as it has a single entrance and path), The idea of the maze comes from the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur. Theseus, son of King Aegeus of Athens used a ball of wool given to him by Ariadne to mark his way through the labyrinth of the Minotaur in Crete, slayed the monster and retraced his steps with the aid of the thread and so to safety. The nearby Alkborough church has a copy of the maze inlaid into the porch floor, and this is used as a template for the periodic re-cutting of the turf. There is also a copy in the east window,The 44ft relic cut into the landscape has many interlocking rings, and the theories surrounding its origins are just as complex. Some have observed how Alkborough's maze is strikingly similar to a floor design in the 13th century French cathedral of Chartres. In 1697, the Lincolnshire diarist and antiquarian, Abraham de la Pryme, noted: They have at (Alkborough) two Roman games, the one called Gillian's (for Julian's) Bore, and the other Troy's Walls. eg The name Julian's Bower may have been inspired by Julius, son of Aeneas of Troy. In legend, the walls of the ancient city of Troy were built in such a confusing way that an enemy who entered would never find a way out. Shepherds too are said to have cut similar mazes. It will remain a mystery. Free to get in and not too difficult to find though a little out of the way unless you are in the area. Fascinating and well worth the visit..and YES I WAS the one running around it whilst a lot of, not particularly interested kids looked on. My dad was proud of me.
