Personally I think the place is aimed more for older kids rather than babies or tots and would suggest your child needs to be 3 years or over to get the most out it. There loads to do at fun city it has a bouncy castle, huge astro slides, a football pitch and much more. My son loves it here it great for burning all his energy up. There is tables and seating and food can bought here from the cafe. Its the usual kids menu burger and chips, nuggets and chips and so on. Large jugs of juice can be bought for a £1. There is plenty of free parking outside. I have found that this place is either really quite durning the week or packed out on weekends and school holidays. I've been at times and my son has been the only person in but then gone on weekends and struggled to find anywhere to sit.

Trust me, I looked up trampolining --not because it's the latest trend in exercise, although it is-- but because I've wanted to get my bounce on for aaaaaages. The only other place in Leeds that I could find looks like it's basically for kids, which is a shame as they have the proper big trampolines. Anyway. This place? So much more than just bouncing. There is trampoline basket ball, trampoline jump in a foam pit, trampoline dodge ball... there's even a tight rope thing you can practice balance on. I love it! They've got a parkour thing in the works too, which is super exciting. Although, the guy didn't really seem to get me when I checked if there would be lessons and if those lessons would be cool for a not-teenager. Whatever I want to run up things. Staff all seem to be about 18. It does smell a little bit like boy and Lynx. But, forget that and just get your bounce on. My friend and I actually spent the first five minutes squealing and bouncing as high and/or as fast as we could until we both collapsed. How do kids DO IT?! Pro tip: warm up a bit. The air in there is super cold which makes your chest hurt if you go nuts like we did. One last question: what is it with alternative exercise places, lasers, and nineties dance music? I mean, weird. But I guess I like it too. DO IT. It's a tenner an hour. Don't go on weekends if you don't want to be surrounded by childs.

I picked up an excellent pair of boots there and I bet the sales leave a few excellent buys to be had. Being forced indoors during miserable months and working with people who liked to tour various climbing walls around the M62 I came to the Leeds wall a couple of time before living here. The routes are pretty good and the bouldering wall has been improved recently.

Despite the gradually vanishing top ropes - or possibly because of, depending on your point of view - this is still the best Yorkshire indoor climbing venue outside Sheffield. Long may it prosper.

It's all about a balance so I'm also quite keen to keep as active as possible in a failing attempt to undo all of my sins. The South Leeds Sports Centre is a perfect stop off then. When I say perfect, as perfect as flogging your guts in the line of duty ever gets but it really is a great facility. First up, it's cheap as chips. That's the joys of government run centres like this. You've got everything (well pretty much) that private gyms have to offer and then more. If you want to hit the gym, the equipment is more than adequate. You'll also find instructors on hand to help you with fitness goals and the like. I personally go for the squash courts and they are well maintained and again won't set you back mega bucks. It's a great work out too and makes eating that juicy cake all the more sweeter later on. Throw in a swimming pool, loads of classes, football areas and you really can work off that weight any which way you choose.

Unfortunately Johnny Depp doesn't see it that way so I turn to something else extremely cute instead; animals. There are plenty of places in Leeds where you can get up close and personal (not too personal mind, there is a name for people like that) with various creatures of the animal kingdom and Ponderosa serves as a great example of that. What's also immense about this place are the facilities offered to disabled and able bodied children alike. Indeed, it did start off as a place to help disabled children and has grown to open it's doors to all. You'll get to see allsorts of animals. You'll even get to see llamas and an emu. How cool is that and no Orville or that silly man who sticks his hand up puppets for a living, in sight. You'll also get a chance to see pigs, peacocks, highland cows, goats, horses, donkeys and birds of prey. It's a cracking day out Wallace and one I highly recommend. Just remember to take a kid with you or you may look a bit daft like me.

I couldn't believe the huge range of animals they have far better than anything similar I have visited in the past. This place is really child friendly with so much for them to see. We bought a bag of feed for 50p to feed the farm animals and it was a lovely experience seeing the animals so close. The farm animal include pigs, goats and sheep as well as rabbits. But whats great about Pondarose is all other animals they keep. There were birds of prey which included a beautiful Kestrel. Also Meerkats which were just having there feed when we saw them first which happened to be baby chicks which I found a bit gross and perhaps might have been a bit upsetting for children to see but when we went back later they were playing around and were very cute I would have loved to have taken one home. There was also a reptile house which we went to. I was slightly surprised they as we walk through part of the house in the tropical plants was what appeared to be sum kind of large lizards just wondering about which did make me feel slightly uneasy but I just stayed where it was and I am a bit of wimp. They had a snake out with a handler in one room and I was too scared to go in but its a great way to get kids interested in animals we saw them handling lots of animals so its great fun as well as they learning lots too they staff we were friendly and seem to enjoying sharing all there knowledge about the animals with everyone. Also whats great is dotted around the site are many different play area's for the children with tonnes of climbing frames and slides for them. There is a coffee shop serving cold sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, ice cream & refreshments. Disabled access. As well as plenty of picnic areas. there are toilets and a nice little gift shop. There is so much to do make sure you allow yourself enough time to see everything. I recommend going on a dry day to get the most out of Pondarose. Open from 10am - 4pm 7 days a week Monday through Sunday. We are open all year round only closing for Christmas and New Year. (Dates are confirmed nearer the time). Free entrance with a bodyline card which is a steal really as it's a fantastic and under used facility. Stadium next door has a well kept large gym and they will even let you have a run round the track if there's no-one using it. As it's on the edge of Middleton Park it's a great place to run and swim, outskirts of leeds so rarely busy.

St Leonards Farm Park is one of those little beauties. It's an award winning farm in Esholt Village, the original home of the soap Emmerdale. We're talking stunning scenery here and some real fresh air in the lungs. The farm has lots of different animals, some of which you can feed. The play areas are well equipped with rather tempting swing bridges. When the weather is better they have ample areas for picnics and on certain days you'll even be able to have a ride on a tractor. Not sure I'm allowed on them though, rubbish. There are plenty of walks and nature trails and a fun barn and refreshments area too. It ticks all of the boxes and is definitely worth a visit
