Victorian swimming pool. Good facilities in old fashioned building. Good for family swimming.

I entered the changing rooms which were dirty and I really did not want to walk on the floor bare foot. It took me 6 different lockers before I found one that worked. I entered the pool area which seemed clean enough. I got in the pool swam 5 metres then got back out again, as it was so could I was shivering. I had paid the extra money to use the spa facilities, I use this in the loosest sense of the word. There was a very small sauna which got cramped after four people got in, then moved onto the steam room that was equally small and smelt of mould and very stale air, not pleasant in the slightest. Having had enough of my experience in the council facility I decided it was time to leave, so headed for the exit via the Leisure Centre Manager. I spoke to him about the state of the entire place and he was quite shocked about the cleanliness and stated he would get it sorted. Overall quite a shame that this is an old leisure centre that is really showing its age, and makes me not want to visit again.

Ennerdale leisure centre is in serious need of a refurbishment to keep in line with the likes of…read moreother centres in Hull such as Woodford. It has a large car park and has easy accessible links from hull city centre, Beverley and sutton. there is disabled access however unless you visited this centre regularly you would know about it. Other access is by steep steps which can be a little dangerous in the winter and bad weather. Once inside staff are very friendly and helpful. In the main foyer is the reception , cafe and access to the spectator seating which over looks the pool. To get to the changing room for the pool and sauna is by steps - i dont know if there is disabled access as i dont recall seeing any. The changing rooms for the swimming pool and sauna are dissgusting to say the least. They are large and have a shower area. I do know that they are regularly cleaned and i think the 'state' of them is more to do with the fact the titles need replacing. They have a large indoor sports hall which also offers summer holiday activities such as football. There is creche facilites and a studio that offers areobic classes from tai box and spinning throughout the week. The gym has recently under gone a refurb and is now fitted with the same state of art gym equpiment and also has the same fitlinxx system as Woodford. The changing room for the gym is sepeate to the swimming pool one and is nice clean, big and modern. There are 2 pools - one large main pool and a smaller pool. However in my opinion the smaller pool is more for toddlers and under children but as it is a metre in depth i would recommend armbands. The small pool also holds regular water areobic sessions. The larger pool is sometimes cornered off into lanes - however it is very popular at the weekends with teenagers so they only corner of a small section of the pool. Although this centre does need to be modernise it is still a good leisure centre.

I haven't skated there, but swam with the kids many times. From a parents perspective, it's far too cold! The main pools aren't too bad but the baby pool is absolutely freezing and it's a little dark and dreary as well. The changing rooms are a bit hit-and-miss: pretty much what you get in any swimming pool of this era, and a little dirty. They're mixed male & female but there aren't many that are big enough for parents and kids to share. They seem to open the big slides and outdoor pool at random times - perhaps there is a pattern to it, but whenever I've been there I've been told that certain features are closed due to staffing. A bit disappointing when you've paid to take the kids there and the particular slide they want is closed. I understand, however, that it is currently closed for refurbishment (Nov 08) so I'm really hoping that it is greatly improved when it re-opens as the basics are there and eldest loves it. It's worth a visit, but go with fairly low expectations and hopefully be pleasantly surprised by it!
