She asked to see my dress inspo, so when I showed her the dress I wanted, she laughed and told me that the store had "invented" that dress, but had to make changes to it. In my mind, you don't have to make changes to a dress you invented - you have to make changes to a dress that you copycat so you don't get in trouble from the original designer. After all of this, she told us we would still have to pay a $50 fee even though we showed up an hour early, and weren't interested in anything. Mind you, there was no one in the store other than us. I have never written a yelp review before, but this interaction put a bad taste in my mouth & tainted what was supposed to be a good experience. I would recommend going somewhere else if you are wanting a better selection and service.

First of all, I called at maybe 3:30 on a Saturday to see if I could just come in and look around. They told me they had availability at 4pm. They closed at 5pm, but I had no idea until it was well past 5 and I asked them what time they closed. They did not rush me at all! I was a little back and forth on my top dress. Plus my mom wasn't there, and she wouldn't let me commit to it without her there. They were totally understanding and let me schedule another tentative appointment that next Monday. (They even let me FaceTime my mom and take pics of the dresses I had on). When Monday morning hit, my mom wanted me to try on some other options, so we hit another shop before going back to The Bride's Shop. I found a dress I absolutely fell in love with, but wanted to try on that first dress again just to be sure I could commit. Before we could even head back to the Bride's Shop, they called me and asked if I wanted to come back in, and had the dress ready to go when I got there! My mom, however, spotted the same dress I fell in love with at the first store, and they let me hop from one dress to the other as many times as I wanted in order to decide. The problem was that I had been looking for months for a wedding dress that would satisfy the desires of both my inner child, with her fairy-tale inspired princess-dress dreams, and at the same time my current, more refined fashion appetite that channeled such icons as audrey, jackie, every Prada thing ever made. Further, I wanted to find a modest dress that I could wear to get sealed in a Temple, which is believed by my church to be a highly sacred House of God for those non-Mormon's out there. Well, after much searching I had at least made some solid decisions: No sequence, pearls, lace, or any embellishments. I wanted to focus on the quality of the fabric, lines, and construction of the dress, and I didn't want the integrity of these key elements to be compromised by gaudiness. I wanted pure silk. I wanted beautiful ruching. I wanted mermaid style, old hollywood elegance. And I wanted it all under $3,000. Preferably under $2,000. That's where Penny, the dressmaker behind "Penelope's" came in. She was referred to me by the same highly trusted source who recommended my photographer. Going to see Penny for the first time, I felt like I was Cinderella going to her fairy godmother with a pumpkin and some rats. I was sure I would get laughed at for my unrealistic desires, and talked into a standard, boring, mormon cut-out of a dress (read: t-shirt style short-sleeved top, puffy A-line skirt. Buttons down back. Long veil.) I was all but shaking. But that was not the case! Penny listened and took notes, and even presented me with a book of silk samples to choose from. She sketched out the dress with my direction, and then quoted me a price that almost took the wind out of me. I wanted to shout from the rooftops- "The Church is True!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Penny is very talented and will go any direction you'd like. I got soooooo many compliments on my dress. Everyone said it was so "me." Her pricing is quite reasonable. This sounds like a dream come true, right?! Just make sure you schedule pretty far out. Besides not having a huge selection in my plus size, it was a surprisingly positive experience. My only complaint is the dressing room had no bench, and so wasn't quite as accessible as I would have liked. But the assistance from the sales person definitely made up for that.

I came here, looking for a veil only. Originally, they were not even going to let me try on my dress with the veil because I did not purchase my dress there. We tried to be understanding, but there was literally nobody else in the store that could've possibly seen my dress. We even asked if we could just try it on in the fitting room so that no other customers would be able to see it if they came in. The girl working went and asked the owner and she made an exception, Which we were very grateful for. But then my veil was ordered wrong:( I was very in love with one veil, but the length of another. They told me since it was the same designer they could basically combine the two. We double triple quadruple checked and they reassured us. It was possible. I even checked over text message, They reassured me again. It would be correct. My veil showed up indeed, NOT correct. They didn't really take responsibility. They blamed the website for the error. I kind of expected since it was a designer for them to call or message the designer directly, to be entirely positive since I was told it had never been done before. The only options to fix it that were given to me, were basically to receive a refund, take the incorrect veil home or purchase a new one. No discount was offered. No compensation. Mind you, I waited 4 weeks for my veil which I know is awesome turn around time. BUT I did let them know that my wedding was very soon, and they assured me the correct veil would arrive in time. Now I am practically out of time, with no veil. Again, the store is very pretty from what I saw, they have beautiful dress dresses. But I am a little annoyed at their lack of accountability and problem-solving.

The clerk greeted us immediately, but was the only one there and complained about business stuff and how much the phone rang. It seemed pretty unprofessional to me. My friend explained to the clerk that she was looking for a red dress, and nothing in a mermaid style or with lots of "floof" around the bottom. The first dress the lady brought her was a mermaid style in black! Seriously?!?! We inquired about the dress in the window display, but the clerk kind of scoffed at it and said something to the extent of "we've got better than that." After being told several MORE times that my friend was not interested in mermaid style, and being brought mostly mermaid style dresses, we just left. Don't waste your time here. The woman working only wanted to bring us dresses SHE liked, not dresses my friend liked. It seemed like she was not listening at all, and didn't care. As we were getting ready to leave, a girl came in looking for a wedding gown and explained she needed her shoulders covered... you guessed it, out came a strapless gown! When the girl explained that she was LDS and therefore was looking for a more conservative gown the woman seemed indifferent.
