My dentist of over 10 years retired last year and a dental group took over his office and I was not happy with them, so my hunt for a new dentist began. I went to a new dentist last year and didn't like that office either because of the constant upsell of procedures. I had seen someone recommend this office in a Facebook group for my city and thought I would give them a try. This morning I had my first visit and I immediately fell in love with this office. It is so close to where I live, there is plenty of parking, the office is clean, there's plenty of seating in the lobby, and everyone was so friendly! I got to meet Dr Skuben and she was so nice! My appt was with Dr Huang and he did my exam AND cleaning and he was amazing! He was so nice and friendly, but most of all he was gentle and it didn't hurt! Update: 2021-05-27 | NOT RECOMMENDED | OVERPRICED I've been keeping this to myself for awhile now. As much as I recommended it 4 months ago, after having my crown replaced...my opinions changed. First off, this place is OVERPRICED. I wasn't aware because I'm new to the area and this one is close to my place. There are so many places around that have great reviews and great price. You might wanna check those out first. Second, my CONFIDENCE was ruined. I had my front crowns done and I don't know what happened but they were much bigger than the temporary ones. Since then, I've been having a hard time and a low self-esteem because I didn't like how my smile/teeth turned out. It's been really hard. During the procedure, I kept saying that my bite was off. She didn't have much more time left to adjust it and she was really rushing. I understand that she have another patient but idk..I felt awful afterwards because my smile is just TOTALLY different my before and the whole thing was FREAKING EXPENSIVE. After a week, I got used with my bite and didn't bother to call back for it. Also, until now... I still have balance from them because they still haven't billed me. I can see the total balance in my dental insurance site but I can't even pay it yet because I need to wait for them. It's just crazy. I don't even know if I'll recommend them. Yes, good reviews in here but check other places as well. Check their prices and save a lot from going there. I'll keep the previous review in here but I don't recommend them anymore. If it weren't for Cindy (assistant), I would've given it 1 star. Cindy is amazing and I'm going to miss her. read more

As a long time local resident & past client, we brought our adult daughter into Skuben Dentistry (as a new patient) for an initial teeth cleaning & checkup Note, our adult daughter has a mild intellectual disability (24 years old) and requires Special Education services She wasn't borne with this condition but unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer at an early age and under went cranial radiation to help save her life Fortunately she's been in remission for eight years after a second relapse and she's physically fine. Her appointment at Skuben Dentistry went ahead and it was determined she has cavities to fill I waited for a follow up call to schedule (never happened) and proceeded to call and make her next appointment This is where I was informed that due to her not being an ideal (normal) dental patient they were not going to proceed with seeing her again My conversation / response from Corky (Office Manager) didn't offer any options (like Nitrous Oxide Gas) to help alleviate fears or a possible referral to another specific Dentist ... Just we don't want to deal with you and goodbye! Her Mother and I are pretty disgusted and disappointed from a lack of empathy! read more

Does anyone actually....enjoy...going to the dentist? I won't say it's ever fun, but I will say that Dr. Hoang makes it the most bearable it could possibly be. He is kind, gentle, and best of all, he explains EVERYTHING he's doing as it happens. It can be really scary to have a bunch of instruments buzzing around your face with no idea what's going on, yet he put me at ease. He is very calming and non judgmental, even with my wonky teeth that are quite embarrassing. Corky in the front office is really helpful and has been so flexible with my scheduling. The office is located right across from the Target on Yorba Linda/Placentia, and is just a few minutes off the 57 freeway. The parking lot has tight spots, but there's typically enough room! I feel very safe with their COVID protocols; we do a questionnaire, wait in the car until ready, a temperature check, waiver, and never really see other patients. I appreciate the safety measures! All in all, Dr. Hoang is truly a wonderful asset. read more

My children have been going to this dental office for few years. Very pleased with the treatment and the cost of treatment is fair. I have recently switched one of my child to join her other siblings here after comparing 2 dental practice. Here is the true story: One of my child (A) goes to another dentist nearby. She would get charged additional $80 for every cleaning after insurance coverage. I have compared what;s included in the cleaning procedure and its the same at both dental place but my dental insurance would cover 100% at Dr. Skuben's. Recently Child A dentist said she had 4 cavity and needs fillings right away. Given Child A very vigilant with cleaning , i decided to have Dr. Skuben looked into her x-ray for 2nd opinion. What made me decides to switch my child A to Dr. Skuben is Dr. Skuben would so patiently explaining what really need done and what's unnecessary for now to avoid unnecessary pain on the poor child. I like a good honest dentist. Of course, my child ended up switching provider to Skuben's office and never look back since. She ended complimented her procedure to be less painful than her previous dentist! Dr. Skuben and Dr. Huang are great dentist. You will be in great hands. read more

So apparently for new patients (told to me after the fact), they book your appointment and make you wait 30mins after said appointment time to account for paperwork. I always show up early because that is how normal doctors/dental offices do is say come 15-30 mins early to do paperwork. So i came @ 11:55am for a 12:30pm appointment. I fill out paperwork. I was told at 12:35pm that the dentist was told i was here and paperwork is done and that my appointment is 12:30 and i will be see soon. Then at 12:45 i was told by the office manager that the dentist went to lunch and its customary for new patients, to account for 30mins for paperwork and that i won't be seen until 1PM. I told her I was disappointed and she said well your appointment is for 12:30pm. Um....yes thank you but then you go on lunch and make me wait until 1? Why not just make the appointment later? To account for this? Instead of scheduling a lunch at an appointment time. Just the way this is handled was not right. I'm just disappointed and not only that they seated another person who came after me in the dental office! This whole thing was absurd - I guess im gonna have to find another dental office because this was not right. To have me wait and then to bring someone back who came in after me when my appointment was set for 12:30 ...its 1pm and im still waiting to be seen ... read more

I'm so blessed to have found Dr. Skuben (my neighbor recommended me to her). I'm plagued with severe dental issues due to medications I have to take for a health problem. She was so kind and understanding, I've had so many bad experiences with these Brea Dentists who try and dazzle you with their over the top ridiculous equipment and big screen TV's. They are like that Monty Python sketch where the doctor says, "This is the machine that goes "Bing" it cost over $200 thousand dollars, aren't you lucky?" There was none of that senseless overhead, it was a clean, well equipped Dental office (I don't need to look in my own mouth during a root canal, just so long as the Dentist can see what's up, I'm good.) Also, I did not feel like I was at CarMax where you are treated disingenuously polite by everyone and then whisked into a salesroom where they interrogate you concerning your credit report and then pressure you into signing a bunch of high interest loans. Not so with Dr. Skuben and her wonderful staff. At every dentist that I have been to since I moved here from LA, I've been ordered about, not asked what I thought or how I would like to proceed. "You're Not Qualified!" I had a dreadful toothache that was throbbing terribly; I initially called for an emergency visit and though they were about to close they said come on in, and not only helped with my emergency but when they discovered my daughter was getting married in 2 weeks, they did something I had been asking every Dentist I've seen for years to do, to please fix my 3 missing teeth (up front!), with some temporary "flippers". No other Dentist would perform this cosmetic process, maybe out of fear that I would not return, or settle with flippers instead of implants. I had given-up even asking about it, and here Dr. Skuben was offering to fix my smile, and took the impressions right then, they will be ready next week in time to walk my daughter down the aisle. I'm so happy to have found a Dentist just like my former family dentist in Sherman Oaks. The whole staff here was wonderful and authentically concerned. As a Hospital Volunteer Catholic Chaplain, I see many wonderful doctors with sincere empathy, with Dentists.... not so much. Everyone here from the Dental Assistants, Stephanie & Cyndi, to the receptionist Corky treated me with the utmost curtesy and care. I called dentist office to make sure that she took my type of insurance and was told yes. I changed my dental provider to her and then called a couple of months later and was told that they no longer take new patients. I informed the receptionist that I was not a new patient and that I had changed to Jane Skuben with my insurance company two months prior and they gave me an excuse of sorry we are not excepting new patients now. Do Not change to this dentist because they will tell you one thing one minute and change the next. Beware! read more

Pros: Dr Huang is a perfect dentist. He should start his own office or move to a better practice. Cons: Dr Skuben and all of the dental assistants will poke & cut your gums during routine cleanings. The billing lady will over charge you for everything. They will fight you because they don't want to reimburse you what they over charged you. They will kick you out of the office after the 2nd time you get reimbursed for what they over charged you. read more

My children has been going to Dr. Jane Skuben's dental office for a few years now. As of to date, i am still very pleased with Dr. Huang , Dr. Skuben as well as the staff and front desk lady, Ms. Courtky. The dentists are professional and honest, does not recommend unnecessary procedures just to make extra money like some dentists I have been to. Even my children can tell the difference between their previous dentists and Jane Skuben's office and they chose to stay with Dr. Huang and Dr. Skuben. And i am talking about treatments!!!! We are not impressed with shinny modern office but bad dental work and bill you unnecessarily. So, if you are a mother like me, looking for reliable dentists to work on your children's teeth or for yourself and a dental office who practice honest reliable pricing , i would say give them a call. read more

Excellent office located in Placentia. Friendly staff that will work to accommodate your needs. I needed 2 fillings, Dr. Wong did them both and I was out the door in 30 minutes. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more
