I am pretty much a no frills clothing kind of person so I don't need dry cleaning, but maybe once a year for my nicer sweaters etc. I needed to get my son's shirts and pants cleaned and wrinkle free-this Momma isn't good with ironing either. The owner was so friendly and nice when I had trouble figuring out where to enter. He came out, opened the door and gave a wonderful greeting. I brought in two dress shirts and clearly told the person at the counter--multiple times--not to put creases in the sleeves. He responded with, "I got you," so I expected that simple instruction to be followed. Instead, both shirts came back with deep, hard creases that now look permanent. To make it worse, there were still visible stains on the collars, which should have been handled without me having to point them out. Both the woman who did the intake and the gentleman who assisted with pickup were so kind. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost for each item (I had 2 shirts cleaned - $7 each!) as I've definitely been charged more in the past at other places. My items were cleaned and restored to their original color (white) and I even got a note from the president of the business thanking me for my business, as this was my first time here. If I could give zero stars, I would. I walked into this business at 7:40 AM--just ten minutes after they opened--hoping to support what I assumed was a Black-owned establishment. Unfortunately, what I experienced was rude, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. There was no one at the front when I arrived. Eventually, a woman with a ponytail and an AirPod in her ear came from the back--already on a personal phone call. She never greeted me, never acknowledged me, never said "I'll be right with you." She just kept talking, clearly in the middle of a casual conversation. At one point, she looked out the front window toward the parking lot and said, "Yeah girl, he not here, the van is gone. That n**** on cloud nine." Still on the phone, she then put her finger up at me like I was interrupting her, then whispered, "What's your phone number?" I responded, "You don't even know what I'm here for." The person on the phone must've heard me, because they ended the call--she never did. After that, she snapped back, "But I still need your number." I told her I just wanted to know if she could press a few items today, and what time they might be ready. Her exact response? "Probably after 5." No courtesy, no explanation, no professionalism. I said no thank you and walked out. As a Black business owner myself, this is exactly the kind of experience that sets us back. Whether that woman was the owner or just someone working there--shame on you. This was probably the first customer interaction of the day, and it was handled with complete disregard. I went to another dry cleaner right after and had an entirely different experience. I was greeted, respected, and told my items would be ready by 1 PM. That's how you do business. Do not waste your time here. I don't care what color your skin is--rude is rude, and this place was the definition of poor customer service. We cannot keep rewarding businesses that don't respect the people keeping them open. read more

I brought my Tahari Blouse in for a cleaning, nothing was wrong with it , just wanted it cleaned for the holidays, it was my favorite blouse. When I picked it up it had a big spot on the front from something they used on it. I don't know what! Needless to say it is ruined and I asked to speak to the manager so he or she can reimburse me for the loss. I called several times and went in person and the manager or owner will not call me back. I have a comforter set, 1 king comforter and 2 shams. I use and hand wash my shams all year long. For the last 3 years, the comforter has been on the floor as as a mat for kids and pets. Very few actually knows what happens at a dry cleaners. Do they really clean your things? Is it actually dry? Do they just Febreeze the heck out of whatever your bring them? Who irons your dress shirts and how long does it really take? Is there a secret stash of items that they take from you? (Do you even remember everything you dropped off?) Do they have random games inside the facility where they see how long you can hang on the rotating rack as it moves? So many questions. Very little answers. Why am I even writing this review? Here's what I do know. I'm pretty sure most of everything I've given them has come back. The shirts are pressed. The clothes feel clean. I don't care if they cleaned them with chemicals or washed them. Heck, I don't care if someone working there borrowed a shirt or tie for personal date and then cleaned up nicely for me. Forgive me for having possible grammatical errors as I'm using my talk to text on my iPhone because I'm lazy but I didn't want to forget to leave this review!! This is my first time using this cleaners and I am so thankful that my 20 year relationship with a different cleaners referred me to them ironically!!! I brought in in a full white linen suit to my cleaners on Tuesday for a all white cocktail party that my husband and I are attending on Saturday and my cleaners said that they were afraid to take it in as they didn't think they could clean it well and give it back to me the way I would have liked and recommended Jay Nay's cleaners as they said they have heard great things about their ability to clean such material. Swear I wish I had taken a before picture as I will attach a finished/After Photo but you seriously would not believe the difference!! I called but could not get an answer on Tuesday or Wednesday as I was afraid to waste the trip in case they would tell me they would not be able to produce the results as well.... so by Thursday afternoon I thought what the heck I will just take it there in person because I could not get anyone to answer the phone. I'm so glad their lack of response to incoming phone calls did not inhibit my eagerness to get this dang suit cleaned for my husband (cuz he does look fly as he!! in it). The girl that helped me at the front desk was very pleasant and told me they could definitely get it done for me in such short notice I said I would come by Saturday to pick it up before the event and she assured me that it would be done by Friday late afternoon!!! SAY WHAY??! Friday afternoon I called around 330 and someone answered on the second ring was very nice gentleman who only needed my last name to check came back to the phone to tell me that my garment was ready for pick up. I cannot believe how good this suit looks right now!!! Thank you SOOOOOOO MUCH Jay Nays for being so freaking awesome!!! You guys help me out in a pinch and did way more than I expected because when I brought this thing in it was tore up!!!! But now my husband will be lookin good Saturday night!!! read more

I have always had great experiences with Janay's dry cleaning and I've been going there for 3 years now. There are super efficient and I get most of my items back extremely quickly. I've never had to take anything back for poor quality of work. I've even taken in a few of my dress pants to have minor alterations and I get those back very quick as well. On top of everything, every employee I've encountered at Janay's has been extremely friendly. His white coat was able to be dry-cleaned, pressed and starched for next-day pick-up for a small, additional fee. The lady at the front service desk was professional and accommodating. Since Janay's Cleaners first opened, I would occasionally drop off my clothes here while on the way to class in Chesapeake. Wish I could rate 0 stars! Trust me don't waste your hard earned $. Dropped off a king size comforter to be dry cleaned. This comforter is a $200 comforter and is not to be washed in a washing machine. Picked it up took out of the plastic and was disgusted! Smelled like mildew and vomit! Also noticed the "stuffing" inside was completely ruined! Called and spoke to so called management who told me there was nothing that could be done. So I'm stuck with a stinky, ruined comforter! Never again! Very unprofessional and never returned my calls! Poor customer service! read more
