After sharing with him the details of our rugs, he was very transparent in his ability to clean super expensive wool/silk rugs in our home. I really appreciated his honesty & him taking the time to explain why my rugs need to be handled/cleaned differently than installed carpet. It's rare to find someone, who at the expense of getting business, tells you they aren't the person for your job. Kudos Craig!

When I first called Chem Dry, I had requested a quote for the cleaning of two rooms in my apartment…read morewith the concentrated effort on my living room. I was quoted $155 as a minimum charge and encouraged to schedule a date for carpet cleaning. I was told that I would receive the true estimate after a representative visited my home the same day as the cleaning. I asked for an estimate before the scheduled date so that I wouldn't be surprised by increased changes and forced into making an on the spot decision based on a potential higher price. The estimate date was scheduled. When Andrew from Chem Dry came over he was using his laser tool to accurately measure the square footage and we discussed the cleaning. The reality was, it would've been about one room and a third to clean just the carpets. I live on the first floor and showed him where other companies had accessed my apartment. He indicated there wouldn't be any issues with access and told me the estimate I would receive should be very much in line with the initial quote of $155 but maybe, just a little above. After confirming an actual time of the cleaning, I felt assured the quoted amount would be very close to the amount I heard both on the phone and by the in-person representative. Later that evening, I received the official estimate. It was 35% higher...over $200. Included was this "access fee" of $95 which I was never told about or told to expect! Truly a shock! When I called the Chem Dry offices to discuss the estimate, I was told by the manager that they have a higher cost of doing business, have already invested money in my job by nearly providing an estimate etc. I countered by stating what I was quoted, what I was told in person and reminded the manager of my limited square footage. I offered to increase my payment from the initial $155 to $175 (which was very generous considering the area to be cleaned). The manager decided to stick to his figure of over $200 and so, I declined the service. The caution I wish to provide is not to accept a same day estimate as the cleaning to avoid decision pressure and to ask about possible hidden/undisclosed costs before scheduling. I am very disappointed at their hidden/undisclosed costs that were never mentioned on the initial call or during the visit for the estimate. This was a waste of my time and Chem Dry is a company that I am now reluctant to recommend. Incidentally was able to schedule another national company that I've used before for 60% less.

Disappointing Decline in Service, Broken Belongings, and No Response From Management…read moreWe were longtime customers of EverClean Colorado, and unfortunately, the quality of service declined significantly over the last three months. We tried to give the company the benefit of the doubt as we were assigned different cleaning crews, hoping things would improve. Instead, the service continued to get worse until we ultimately cancelled. During our last cleaning, the crew sat outside our home for over 30 minutes before coming inside. Once they entered, the cleaning appeared rushed, and the entire service lasted less than 45 minutes. During that visit, our cordless vacuum was dropped multiple times and left broken and no longer able to charge and our piano keyboard cover was knocked over and a very important vase was shattered. Items were removed from the top of our oven and left scattered on the counter, an organizer tray was thrown into the sink, and the kitchen sink was left uncleaned. The stovetop was not cleaned, neither were the insides of our toilets or the bathroom floors. Bath mats were left in place, and our child's vinyl floor mats were neither cleaned nor moved to vacuum underneath them. We had also repeatedly requested that the stairs and stair railing be cleaned, but this was never addressed. We were left feeling that basic cleaning tasks were being overlooked while our belongings were not being handled with care. What made this even more frustrating was that we had previously experienced much better service from this same company. We knew what their service could be, which is why we continued giving them opportunities to improve. When we raised concerns after the last cleaning, the only remedy offered was a $10 credit, despite the broken vase alone being worth several times that amount. We subsequently sent management a detailed email explaining our experience, the damage to our belongings, and the numerous cleaning issues. We even provided photographs. Our concerns have gone unanswered. This was especially upsetting because we have a profoundly disabled child who spends much of his day on the floor. Finding broken glass in an area he uses was not just a matter of property damage; it raised serious concerns about his safety. We ultimately cancelled our service because we could no longer trust that our home would be cleaned properly or that our belongings would be treated with care. I am sharing this experience because I wish we had known how much the service had changed before we continued paying for it. I hope management takes customer feedback seriously, addresses concerns when damage occurs, and works to restore the level of service that originally earned our business. Based on our experience, I would encourage homeowners to pay close attention to the quality of each cleaning and inspect their belongings afterward.

Although Jake's was not the cheapest, the way each of the staff members made me feel even just over the phone gave me peace of mind. He followed up with a confirmation call the day before to make sure that my schedule had not changed. He was extremely professional and courteous. He told me his tech Ralph would be the one coming to the house to do the work, so I had a name to go with a face prior to him getting here. Ralph and his co-worker arrived early for the job and got to work immediately. He explained everything that needed to be done and got my furniture and breakables moved with respect and caution. While doing the job, he should me how much debris was removed and I actually took a picture of how much came out of the ducts. It was amazing. He also explained how this buildup is not good for the furnace nor the home overall and that routine maintenance is key to making sure a home is healthy. The quote Mo provided me via e-mail was exactly what I paid as well. Overall, I was very happy with the service and work that was done and will be calling them again to have my ducts cleaned and when it comes time to have the carpet cleaned in my basement, they are #1 on my list to call.

New construction homes are notorious for having dirty and clogged ducts so we thought we better do it. I spoke to Moe who was very nice and gave me a reasonable quote over the phone. I decided to go ahead and schedule the duct cleaning for 2/12. However, Moe did not do the duct cleaning, it was his technician Ralph who came. Ralph was over an hour late but did call to tell me he was running behind. It seemed like he did a good job with the cleaning and when he was cleaning the furnace in the attic the smoke alarm even went off because there was so much dust coming off of it. Ralph did his thing and left when finished. When I went back to the house today (2/13) I took a harder look inside the vents and realized that one in particular still contained a lot of debris and the debris was flying out when I turned the heat on. I called Moe and he said he would definitely send Ralph back to take care of it. Ralph called me and was able to come back to the house within a couple of hours. He did some harder digging and low and behold...he pulls out a plastic water bottle from the duct! When the water bottle came out tons more debris followed! I'm very glad he came back and discovered the problem; but I think this should have been discovered the first time he cleaned. He also cleaned a vent/duct I pointed out that he missed the first time. When all is said and done, 1st Choice did a good job cleaning our ducts and furnaces and I would recommend them. Moe handled my issue properly and in a timely manner which I really do appreciate. Ralph did a good job but do point out where all your vents are so he doesn't miss any. I deducted a star because 1) Ralph was quite late for our appointment, and 2) he missed the water bottle the first time around.
