I have become increasingly tired of Starbucks, but less so of other chain coffeehouses. That said, I always seek out the independent coffeehouses. Mostly, I was sold on the name (Rustbelt) of this coffeehouse in Downtown Toledo, just a few blocks from the small cluster of downtown mid-rises. Inside, it has the open floor plan with exposed ceilings up above, which works very well here and fits the industrial Rust Belt mood. The seating options were to my liking: big butcher block type tables meant to be shared, smaller tables, and upholstered seating with coffee tables. I wish I could have stayed at Rustbelt longer. It was a warm and humid summer day and I had an iced tea and a pastry. The items were tasty. The pricing was fair and the service was unremarkable, but did lean toward being good natured. Parking is available right in front along the street, should you want to keep an eye on your car. That said, I couldn't get a read on the location ... it seemed that there were other eateries and bars nearby, so maybe that meant it was okay. Also, I couldn't figure out where the customer base came from. Usually, bohemian coffeehouses have bohemian enclaves nearby where the bohemian people live. I didn't see any, or maybe I didn't look long enough. I couldn't imagine them being suburbanites. Lastly, I believe I've always seen Rust Belt spelled as two words. If they want to stylize this and go with one word, that's their prerogative. So, what you have here at Rustbelt Coffee are good tea/coffee with pastries to choose from, fair prices, decent service, and a spacious open interior plan where the climate control system was working very well. First, let's talk about what went well…read more.. The space itself is beautiful. The concept is absolutely necessary. While there is a coffeehouse/breakfast/lunch spot there is also the ability to pay for a membership and have access to some more private areas. This is an up-and-coming neighborhood, and everything we had was delicious. One of the women in our group got an iced chai, I had a great Cortado. Two of us split a salmon Caesar wrap. It was enormous and plenty big for two people. They have excellent waffle fries. The service, impeccable. To be fair, you go up, you order, and it's pretty much self serve like most coffee houses. Now, where they could improve. I tried to order a breakfast sandwich at 11:05AM and was told they had moved on to the lunch menu. Having a very small menu, it would be helpful if you could order breakfast items all day long. I went in really wanting a bagel with hot honey and bacon, but it wasn't available. While the salmon Caesar wrap was good, I really wasn't looking for a full lunch. Luckily I was able to split something with a friend. It is a very small menu. I can't stress that enough. I do like that they have seasonal drinks, call me crazy because I know it was almost 90° today but once school is back in session, I want a fall option. They didn't have one yet. Lastly, the parking! A lot of the parking was cordoned off today. It was like that the last time I went too. Parking was tight. That wasn't such a big deal for me, but it would be for a client. I meet with a lot of seniors with mobility issues. They just isn't a lot of accessible parking. This is a great event space and they have awesome coffee. I just wish the menu was a little larger or at least allowed for a full day menu and I wish parking was a little more accessible.

This place is so cool and comfortable. The couches are great, the plants are fantastic; even the music, cool jazz, usually, is great. The local art on the walls is perfect for this type of place. The service is friendly, fast, and accurate. The only downside, IMO, is that Earth doesn't accept cash. Not a big deal, 'cuz I got credit, baby!! I haven't eaten their food, yet, but I can't imagine the food at a coffeehouse could taint my opinion of the place. Oh, by the way, the coffee is excellent. I like strong flavors, and EC provides those in spades. Sometimes after work, I like to decompress a little. And sometimes, I need a little caffeine-laden pick-me-up to catalyze, perhaps, an evening workout. Well, EC offers a unique opportunity to do both, simultaneously! Rating? Myself and the Mrs have been checking out the downtown coffee scene, and so far, Sweet Nate's is our favorite. Located in the Oliver House, the look and feel of this place is outstanding. I've always had a thing for mid-century aesthetics, and Nate's has some. Their music comes primarily from a collection of vinyl records. Thumb through the 450 to 500, or so, albums, find one, take it to the barista, and they'll play it for you. Cool. By no means am I a coffee connoisseur, but I really liked their product. I ordered the "marriage latte", and my wife got a blueberry Italian soda. Both were excellent. Unlike some of the other coffee places that are located more centrally places in downtown Toledo, you'll have to walk a little ways to get to Sweet Nate's. It's worth the walk. 5 stars!

Keep an eye on All Crumbs Bakery's Facebook page and website. They take online orders up until midnight Thursday for Saturday pickup, and their bread is truly incredible. It's actually a bit puzzling how good it all is. Every single thing I've tried, from their chocolate filled croissants, to their burger buns... everything they produce is perfect. It's like some sort of culinary witchcraft. In some cases, it ends up being the highlight of whatever meal the bread is paired with. This place is great!…read more We came for a light brunch/snack with kids on a rainy Sunday while waiting for Imagination Station to open. It's so cute and lovely inside! They have a great little room for parents with little kids. Our kid had french toast sticks and also a chocolate muffin, and he was so happy. We had avocado toast and a hummus avocado press sandwich, both were great. This is a great choice for anyone! And it's super kid and baby friendly!
