Had dinner here this evening... This is a Jamie Oliver Italian Restaurant in Brighton. Atmosphere is good, no beer on tap though... Had great plank platter which included cured sliced meat such as salami and pepperoni, cheeses (buffalo mozzarella, Parmesan, and Romano) along with a variety of breads as an appetizer. The Rocket and cabbage salad was great and for the main course I got the eggplant which was very delicious. (Not called eggplant on the menu but that's what it was!) Good eating but there is better in the area...

Who says England has bad food!? Oh wait, this is Italian. Whatevs- Jamie's is some good eats. My brother and his wife live in Brighton and this is one of their favorite spots. We started off with a vegetable antipasti plank (plenty for the four of us). The plank included marinated and pickled vegetables, delicious olives, cheese, and bread (crostini if I remember correctly). For an entree I ordered the mushroom ravioli which was very tasty. I appreciated the smaller entree option as this allows one to enjoy an appetizer or dessert without getting too full. For dessert we had the ice cream and an espresso martini. Hey, I was on vacation. Our server was great, was attentive and had a friendly sense of humor. The interior of this restaurant is open and cool, although.... that leg of pig hanging from the counter near my table did kind of freak me out a bit. If you are a vegetarian, perhaps you should sit in the back section of the restaurant:)

I've only been here once (last night), so haven't experienced more than one meal here, however that one meal was so scrummy that I just couldn't resist writing a review... Being a chain, Jamies could easily offer a relatively generic experience, however as soon as I walked in I was immediately impressed by the high standard of things. The decor is fantastic- very cool and eye-catching and the staff greeted us with big smiles, which is always nice! The food, too, was really wonderful! I had a steak and chips- something that is easily done averagely, but it was delicious. The steak was thin and lathered in oil and fresh herbs, making it taste incredible and feel much less stodgy than other steaks I've had. It felt fresh and light! The chips, too, were well flavoured with garlic and herbs. The overall atmosphere was great- there was a nice buzz about the place- and my experience there was lovely on the whole. I was very pleasantly surprised by Jamie's and will most definitely return to try more of the food! :) Don't be put off by the fact that this is a chain restaurant- give it a shot and I'm confident you'll be happy you did!

I really like Jamie Oliver (or at least what I have seen on tv of him over the years). We ended up in Brighton for just the afternoon before flying home from Gatwick and stopped in for a meal. Didn't love it at all. We had the Italian steak and it was dry with cold fries. Spicy Calabrian sausage pappardeli and it was spicy but not awesome. In all it wasn't what I was expecting and maybe my standards were set too high from all the exposure. The wait staff were casual and pleasant and efficient so at least there's that.

We started off with some drinks - I had an incredible berry flavoured cider that was tart and pinkish in coloured, recommended to me by the lovely staff! I also had myself a nice black coffee (it was one of those days!)... The food menu is great here and there are plenty of appealing options to choose from. I spotted steak and chips for a mere £11 (plus £1 for peppercorn sauce, which of course I added) and was a little dubious... Steak and chips for £11? It's hard to not expect poor quality at that price, but I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. The steak was great and cooked medium rare, as requested. The chips were AMAZING and the added peppercorn sauce was delicious and came a-plenty as well, so worth the £1 extra in my books. There was also a lovely big side salad that came with the dish, making it a hearty and tasty meal at such a bargain price! The setting is lovely in here too. I was able to bring my pup inside, which is such a massive plus for me, and there was a really friendly and comfortable atmosphere! I can't wait to go back to this place and, if I'm ever craving a steak and chips that won't break the bank, I'll be in here in a shot!! :)

I esp enjoyed the tastes, textures and colors of the smoked tofu puffed pastry and my fave surrounding plate vegetables were the cabbage and the roasted yellow potatoes w veg gravy. The reason I gave four instead of five was that the asparagus tart dish was lacking in good texture and flavor. Also, our takeaway leftovers were accidental thrown out in the kitchen rush and w/ it our jet lagged son's food; he literally was sleeping at the table. The staff in that throwaway regard were very apologetic. Overall a wonderful experience.

The pasta is made when you order which has the benefit of knowing it is fresh, but sadly the disadvantage of making the meal take quite a long time. I waited about 15-20 minutes for mine, which wouldn't be bad if I was with a friend or had the afternoon relatively free, but with a 45 minute lunch break it was just a bit too long. Luckily the wait DID end up being worth it. I had penne with pomodoro sauce, the non-crispy chicken, courgettes & mushrooms, onions, peppers and mozzarella. SO MANY POINTS for giving an actual decent amount of cheese!!! And the sauce had a lot of flavour. I'd sort of expected a typical bland tomato sauce, but it was lovely. Total came to about £7, but it was a significant portion of food! Again, it probably won't be a regular lunch spot for me because of the wait, but I will definitely pop in from time to time.

I'm afraid I was very disapointed- the flyer spoke of lots of different types of meats cooked in herbs and spices off the grill but in real fact they were just cooked meats in cafeteria metal trays-and they didnt look good. I debated the beef but she told me it was cooked all the way through, not pink. I asked about the Piada (italian thin flat bread) and she presented me with standard wraps -still in a plastic bag. I opted for spicy italian sausage - which sadly turned out to be bland and not at all spicy. The staff were nice enough but I got the feeling they didn't really want to be there- apart from the chap taking payments - he was chirpy. Its not a place i'd wanna sit and spend time in- urban themed with corrogated iron, felt cold. So on the whole the whoke experiece was very underwhelming, the food was sicky and i couldnt finish it- and didnt really want to. Don't think i'll be going back-was ok as it was 30% to write it off but at almost £7 a meal at normal prices I's recommend you avoid potentially getting ripped off!

They are ready to speak about each ingredients if you don't know them, they even answered to questions about a specific product, and how lovely this is. There is a slightly negative point, about prices. It's very hard to take a starter for more than £5 when you know that you'll spend £16 for a pizza and £4 for a coke. Even if it's delicious, maybe it could reviewed. Plus, you are susceptible to pay a percentage depends of the service (it's written on the menu so not a big deal). At Brighton specifically, I had the pesto pizza (with added pepperoni) and the caesar salad. My partner and I split both, which was a good amount of food for two people. Both of us we were very satisfied. One detractor for Brighton, at least on the night we went, was that a huge portion of the menu was unavailable. The server basically had to go down a laundry list of menu items that they couldn't serve, which even included most alcoholic drinks. While I'm glad we warned up front, and we still enjoyed what we had, it was disappointing and seemed a little strange. Also, I will say that between the two, the Brighton location's space was a little lacklustre. Still, I would recommend Purezza as a solid pizza option and worth checking out.

After making up my mind I chose the falafel, olives and feta on flat bread and an orange juice. The staff seemed really friendly, because you order at the counter but they bring it to your table. My lunch was yummy. Not a super meal, more like a quick bite for lunch but was quite good and the falafel wasn't too crunchy and hard as I experienced before.
