We ate here several times during our short stay in Brighton. My father-in-law loved this place! It was also very easy to take a baby! Baby friendly 5 stars Kid friendly 5 stars The food was tasty, and we tried many things. Excellent salmon, delicious seasonal vegetables, tasty chicken pizza. The staff was wonderful. They were all very friendly and helpful! They have a large, nice outdoor patio in front! Mmmmm wonderful food!! The Antipasti was delicious green peppers, succulent sun dried tomatoes, courgette, oven baked I think... I didn't try the meat option but if you like Parma ham you'd like that!! The main course was pizza or pasta , delicious gnocchi, vegan pizza which was tasty, goats cheese pizza, a very nice alternative to mozzarella, but I still tried the margarita which was tasty too. Good authentic pizza base .. Again there were meat options that I didn't try... The cocktails flowed .. Very good value at £6.50 for TWO!!! I had Woo Woo, which tasted potent & just what I fancied.. Al Duomo is a multifunctional restaurant, cafe and nightclub. With a wonderful position right next to the Pavilion, it can pull in the crowds, and is well known in the city. Its primary function is, as the name suggests, as an Italian restaurant, with two floors and an extensive (if unadventurous) menu of Italian favourites. The service can be on the slow side, although it does seem to have improved in recent times. The upper floor is often given over to big groups celebrating birthdays and the like. During the day, it also functions as a small cafe serves steaming mugs of coffee and appetisingly sticky cakes. Then come night time, the large downstairs room is often hired to local Brighton club promoters, providing a nice sized space with its own bar to dance the night away. read more

Who would have thought that pizza could be so excellent in England? Al Duomo is a 3 story building right next to the museum entrance to The Pavilion. We stopped in for a very late lunch, sat downstairs and ordered pizza, salad, and eggplant parmisan. The seafood pizza was absolutely phenomenal and the arugula salad fresh and crunchy. There were fliers on the table indicating that Michael Buble was going to be performing in a few days. There is outdoor dining on the plaza but it was raining so we stayed indoors. Reasonably priced and highly recommended, especially in a tourist town like Brighton. read more

Disappointed by this Italian restaurant. Went on a nice sunny day and made the most of the outside seating. Service was slow and the food not impressive. Both garlic bread and bruschetta were bland and with bad bread texture. Spaghetti bolognese seemed to have a basic unseasoned sauce. read more

I started going to Al Duomo for cocktails when I was a uni student, my friends and I would go for their happy hour - (weekdays 5-7 I *think*) for buy one get one free cocktails. We soon discovered that Al Duomo makes the best Long Island Iced tea in town!! It has become something of a tradition where if any of my uni friends are in town, we head to Al Duomo for Long Island Iced Tea. They still taste as good as they did 7 years ago! The staff are very welcoming and attentive, and were fantastic when I booked a work christmas party there a few years ago. It was at this christmas party that I had my first taste of swordfish - it was cooked to perfection, and remains to this day the nicest swordfish I've had! I've eaten there a couple of times since - the food generally really really tasty! In my opinion, it's one of the nicer Italian restaurants in town. read more

Located smack in the middle of Brighton's consumer center, Al Duomo is within walking distance of all the city's main attractions and could even be considered one of them. Claiming to be Brighton's oldest Italian, Al Duomo is perhaps the most well regarded in town. With its own wood-fired pizza oven, extensive menu and stylish interior there are few places that measure up to its quality and panache. Upon entering you're always greeted with a smile and once seated you can be sure that satisfaction waits. They serve all the Italian or Mediterranean dishes you'd expect including a selection of Tapas, seafood and typical pasta dishes. In terms of main courses the honeyed lamb shank and swordfish steak are two prime choices, as the price would suggest. (Worth it though!) Deceptively large, the restaurant section spreads over two floors providing space for over 300 people and, while in some establishments this would mean slow service, the waiters at Al Duomo are of the standard where neither time nor notepads are an issue. Perhaps a little too large for it's own good, the interior is by no means unsightly but does leave you feeling a little detached. However, it would seem the managers have made efforts to rectify this by organizing regular entertainment in the form of live music, cabaret and even casino nights. One can also make use of Al Duomo's flexibility by attending one of its regular club nights or even by hiring one of three large function rooms available for special occasions. (For a typically Brightonian experience get together with some friends, order one of Al Duomo's pizzas to take away and then stroll over to the pavilion gardens where you can enjoy you can sit and devour your food on picturesque, rural grounds.) read more

After hearing a few people's stories about extremely drunken debauched evenings in here as a result of a 'staff do', I was pleased to fall into the ranks of those that have been downstairs and come out alive. Like a Vietnam vet having a flashback, stories are startlingly remembered rather than regaled- and I was no exception. Some things are really best forgotten...if only you could. With huge groups, meals work to be rather reasonable for a three course meal and because they have a restaurant license it only takes a careful hand to place a needle on a record and the 'civilised' meals spill out onto the dance floor and into the early hours. read more

I've never had a bad meal in here and they always manage to move a few tables around to squeeze us in if they are full up. Thats the kind of staff that work in this place, really helpfull and really efficient. The food, especially the pizzas are fantastic! My wife usually goes for the classic lasagne but the quattro staggione is to die for. The bases are nice and fresh and crisp and the toppings not at all greasy. It does actually put a lot of the other Italian restaurants to shame. Great wine list and you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get the bill as they don't charge an arm and a leg. read more

V surprised no one has done a review on this place, yet! I felt a bit cramped / buffeted, sitting in the side bar while waiting for our table, but otherwise its well laid out, with a separate area on mezzanine level, and more rooms upstairs too, for larger groups. Having worked in a pizza shop before, I decided to try something different- Went for a creamy salmon and pasta starter, which was fabulous- 'nuff said! Main course was less fab, but still nice.. a chicken breast in some fancy sauce, with mixed veggies, and (i think) saute potatoes).. memory slightly hazy, by this time ...;-) On the night we went, they had some stag / hen do's in upstairs, so the staff were rather stretched- but always friendly. In my view, it's a nice treat, either for a loved one, business lunch, and families- ongoing lunch specials on he boards outside, or in local press. read more

Not really sure what all the glowing reviews are about here. Below average food on the night that we went and definitely no smiling staff! It's an okay looking restaurant, as far as I'm aware it's not a chain, but it feels like one. Maybe it's the Elvis nights, or the Rat Pack tribute nights, or the fact they have a special Tour Group section on their website but something about this restaurant is just really nasty. We started with the deep fried whitebait were okay but suspiciously "frozen and from a bag" tasting, though they were the most edible part of our meal. The garlic bread with mozzarella was burnt and greasy. Our pizzas sounded really exciting on the menu, but were pretty boring and the bases were really soggy in the middle. My pizza included anchovies, which came in a clump of 6 on one piece of the pizza, and none anywhere else. We had a Tastecard but even with 50% off it wasn't worth it. There are so many better (and cheaper!) restaurants in Brighton. read more

What an evening! We received a very warm welcome by the wonderful staff at Al Duomo! It was a great atmosphere with very attentive staff who made up lovely cocktails and some tasty snacks. BUT it didn't stop there - out came the loveliest anti pasti and which was almost enough to fill me up! After this we were given great pizzas which were traditional and tasty (even vegan pizza!)! The pasta they served was also fantastic! I was overwhelmed by the service and how good the food was! a 10 out of 10 from someone who has lived in Brighton for 9 years!
