Good Shepherd literally wanted to charge me over $1000 for a 15 minute PT consultation and pair of 30 minute sessions. The total amount of the claim they sent my insurance company for the above services was over $2000! I'm particularly pissed because I asked them upfront what the cost would be and they told me they couldn't say exactly, but not to worry because "it'll be reasonable". They also said the price depends on the insurance company. How does the price you charge depend on my coverage? Seems like price manipulation to me. Is that even legal? We'll see what the PA Attorney General has to say about it. Anyway, when I called to complain about the $1000+ bill, they told me the reason it was so high was that I had a high deductible. It's true my deductible is high, but that doesn't change the fact that the claim they sent the insurance company was over $2000. Anyone who's had physical therapy knows sessions don't cost $800 or 1000 each. That's just BS. To anyone seeking PT, avoid this place and their dishonest billing practices! Also please note that Performance Spine and Sports Medicine of Newtown provided the very same services for 1/10 of the price and none of the hassle.

Day before my appt NovaCare left message on my cell @10:30am saying they were 3 therapists short this week & would need to reschedule me to next week when they had a 'few' appts available, so now I was being pushed out at least a week. I quickly called another PT facility further away to get me started ASAP. I then called NovaCare to cancel anything further & was told they had contacted me to say they had an appt still available the next day but at noon instead of 2pm. I said I was never told that & I would stick with the new PT company. Later I noticed my landline had a message on it from NovaCare @2:30pm saying they had a noon appt the next day. No idea why they called earlier on my cell to say had to wait a week now, and called 4 hours later on landline to say something was available (landline messages are usually spam). After this scheduling issue I didn't feel confident on how my situation would be handled going forward.

A month later, and I have received a bill for $173.00. Each procedure they did was billed separately and charged to me. I have been to physical therapy before and never had electronic stimulation or an ultrasound for lower back pain charged separately. The problem is that they don't tell you these are discrete charges or that you should check with your insurance. Moral of the story is that this provider is trying to charge for all possible billable service and that potential clients need to check before visiting here. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

I decided to try an introductory Pilates package after chatting with Ilene. I saw right away how much effort Ilene put into understanding the neuromuscular system, and into creating an individualized plan for each client. She used a variety of techniques that allowed me to modify exercises and avoid exacerbating my condition, and she gave me techniques to use to avoid pain in activities of daily living as well, such as getting in and out of the car. Working with her has increased my strength and flexibility, improved my posture and gait, helped reduce my pain, and improved my quality of life. Woke up with very similar knee pain last week (nothing like hurting yourself without knowing how it happened). Did the RICE, took it easy, did some pt exercises, no help.
