I do not enjoy posting negative reviews about small businesses but I feel this one is warranted. I was requesting floral arrangements for an engagement party. Asked multiple times for an example of what type of arrangements they would be doing- they just would not answer. I needed to know so I could order complimentary table cloths. Attitude suggested this was an inconvenience. Ultimately, 10 days before the event and with no answers, I had to find another florist. This florist had pictures of previous work, could provide examples of flowers she would use, and asked what colors she could work with. She worked with the budget and assured me they would be lovely. I accomplished with her in 20 minutes what was not possible in a month with James Weir. I have no doubt this was a good florist for many years- but not anymore. I have seen Stella in three locations along Montague street in all the years that I have lived here. Each space was uniquely her home and anyone who walked in- HOME. Tried out James Weir for the first time for anniversary arrangement and it wasn't all that great. I got the dance with me bouquet. First of all, I picked the "premium" option out of the 3 options available and it looked like I paid extra for what looked like to be the same as the "regular" option. Also, the flowers are of bad quality. Within 24 hours they started curling and drying up. I have black spots on my roses right now. Can't say I'm happy with them & they're probably not going to get any of my business anymore. read more

Fantastic spot for flowers, plants, herbs, accessories, they have it all and are very helpful with selecting what you need. I bought a huge and beautiful herb garden/pot there that has mint, chives, sage and parsley, another giant rosemary plant that is insanely fragrant, two healthy kale plants, three succulent plants, two clay pots with bases, a rectangular ceramic planter and a huge bag of soil AND I had it all delivered ($6 if you live in Bklyn Heights) all for $158 - not bad at all and they look great! What a sham. I get it, it is Mother's Day and you expect things to cost more but there are no prices on anything. Again, not a big deal except when you quote me $90 for an arrangement that I then see was ordered via telefloral for $65 waiting for delivery and one on the floor for double the size that is $100. Could not suggest anything for an all white arrangement and basically just stood there and could care less if I came or went. The roses in the fridge looked about to die. I recently purchased a few bouquets of hydrangeas and a baby's breath crown from James Weir. This was for my baby shower and I wanted a crown made up in baby's breath to wear that day. The owner made such a beautiful head piece and added these gorgeous blue flowers to it. I was very happy to wear it and truly made the day much more fun! I dont normally write reviews but was so impressed with this companies handling of a mistake (which was my fault), that i have to write one. I live in new jersey and wanted to send a plant to my niece in brooklyn. I called them, placed the order, and accidentally took an oudated slip of paper from my wallet, andgave them the wrong address to deliver to, and the wrong phone # to contact my niece with. When i realized what id done, i contacted them and was told that the plant had been left at that wrong address. Naturally i thought that because it was my mistake that it would me some amount of money. At the very least another delivery charge. After explaing what had happened to them they told me that they would pick up the plant at the wrong address and deliver it to the correct one. And if the plant was missing or in bad condition, they would replace it. With no extra charge for anything. Thie is an extraordinarilly great business to deal with, and have nothing but praise for them. Its nice to know theres still businesses out there that have this much character, and are as professional as this one. read more

Beyond ridiculous levels of customer service! I called James Weir floral from Texas to purchase an arrangement for my daughter's birthday. I worked with Estella and she was super friendly, incredibly helpful, and I'm pretty sure her arrangement is going to be over the top beautiful. But it didn't stop there! As asked her if there was a wine delivery service they worked with because i wanted to send her some of her favorite wines as well. She referred me to a liquor store down the street and said "If you call them and pay for your wine order, I will pick it up on the way and hand deliver the flowers and the wine to make your daughter's day very special." I mean seriously...WHAT??? :) :) :) Way way way over the top customer service for a complete stranger. I can't even imagine what being being friends with Estella must be like! Thank you soooo much! Leah spent time with me explaining the different arrangements she could make at different price points. I swear if I had asked for a $5 dollar arrangement, she would have made one as spectacular as the one she made for me at my price. Long story short - I ordered my grandmother an all yellow French Tulip arrangement from a local florist and it was contracted it out to James Weir. The arrangement was not at all what I had ordered; it was made up of different types of tulips in various colors. When I called to voice my disappointment, the manager was very apologetic and we realized there had been a miscommunication with the order - stemming from the other florist. The manager offered to send a new arrangement (all yellow roses since they were out of tulips) the next day and they were quite beautiful. Rude employees and not the least bit interested in customer service. Unfortunately for this company opening the shop at 9am this does not mean open for customers. I was told they needed to get ready and return in an hour. I drove a distance to arrange something very simple-- on the web it said store hours started at 9am. If the shop was the least bit polite about running late,* I might have been understanding--but they were rude and I will never use this shop again. *I should have learned from another order of which I never got conformation of delivery from the shop (something I had requested) Under the circumstances I let it slide as it was a passing. But now I have learned that is this just an unprofessional situation that is probably living out a long lease--soon to leave. My recommendation is use another shop--who needs the stress. read more

I had a terrible experience with James Weir Florist. I was sent flowers for my birthday, but instead of coming to deliver them, the called and i missed it. I called back within 10! minutes and already it was impossible to get a delivery truck out to me because the truck had been sent to a funeral. When I tried to understand the situation the woman representing James Weir was incredibly INCREDIBLY rude. I decided it was best to leave the situation, but called back again moments later because i was still perplexed by the situation and realized that i had hung up merely to avoid receiving this woman's nastiness. Perhaps to no surprise, when i called back she proceeded to be a terrible person putting me on hold mid sentence, talking over me and puting me on hold mid sentence again. I work in the service industry and nothing i said necessitated this kind of behavior - and ive delt with some doozies. Finally, when the flowers got here, they started dying within two days. I had a terrible terrible experience and i would warn everyone from using them. Dont support these kinds of businesses. read more

Such amazing service! I went here after checking out multiple flower shops for corsages. This shop has amazing prices ($10 for a single white rose corsage), beautiful flowers, and Rose, the woman who makes the corsages, was so helpful! I ordered 7 corsages for myself and friends. When my parents went to pick them up, Rose even gave me an extra corsage! Oh and this shop is also SO cute! (If you ever see this, thank you Rose, the corsages were BEAUTIFUL!) read more

She even did my wedding flowers almost 21 years ago. Yes, they can get busy, especially over the phone, but the flowers are worth it. I have been to James Weir a couple times and spent a good amount of money there-- no more! The owner has an awful attitude and seems to not need any of my money.
