Awful. I went in for a follow up after an accident where I had been seen in the ER. I was concerned about healing. He wanted to know if I came to see him because the accident happened in state park and was interested in a lawsuit. I never mentioned anything like that and even though I could have gone that route I decided I wanted to focus on getting better. It was inappropriate for him to assume that. Then it got worse and he started in on why he thought I should have weight loss surgery. This is a review of Dr. Felt in regards to his Nephrology practice which is based out of the same location of 350 - 30th Street in Oakland. First off, when I called the office to set up my appointment at 510-204-8290, the front office staff wasn't even aware that he also specialized in Nephrology. She insisted that he only served as a PCP at this location. Additionally, she didn't have an alternative phone number for me to schedule said appointment. I had to call Sutter's main number twice only for them to figure out, that in fact, his Nephrology practice is out of this location. I'm so glad people know where they work and what services they provide!! Secondly, my appointment was scheduled for 7:45 AM as I didn't want to have to dip into my sick time at work. Dr. Felt didn't enter the exam room until 8:20 AM!! I didn't receive an update from a single staff member letting me know he was running late. I also know I was his first appointment of the day. So much for not dipping into my sick time at work!! Meanwhile, during my 35 minute wait, I can hear the Medical Assistants arguing in the hallway with one another. Very professional. Dr. Felt asked me, "How are you doing?" My response was, "I'm frustrated, did you know my appointment was scheduled for 7:45 AM?" His response, "Well, we're off to a great start now aren't we?" No apology or explanation whatsoever. I found Dr. Felt to be stand-offish, and primarily tuned into his computer rather than with me. One would hope at the very least that the reason you are waiting 35 minutes is because the doctor is reviewing your chart ahead of time. Don't be so hopeful Zipper!! I don't care if I go into renal failure. I will not return to this practice. read more

Felt is great. He doesn't mince words, he tells you what he needs to do, he provides his expert opinion and tries to get you to go along. His "bedside" manner is fine and he cares that you get better. If you want to play Dr. on yourself, go elsewhere. If you want expert medical attention from a personable and no nonsense physician- come here. read more

My wife went to see Dr. Felt today because our PCP is out. She's had an uncontrollable cough for three days and has bruised a rib because she'll go into violent coughing fits, but she's concerned about taking cough medicine because she's still nursing our 1 year old son who's had weight issues. Dr. Felt was INCREDIBLY rude and dismissive of my wife's concerns saying she had "mommy issues" because she was still breast feeding our son at a year old, and that he was fine to stop breast feeding (this guy doesn't know any of our son's medical history) and she "just needed to suck it up and take over the counter cough medicine." This old fart might make a fine army medic, but he doesn't know squat about modern medicine. Do not trust him with your family. read more

Not a good sign - simply called to confirm that Dr. Felt accepts my PPO, and I am kept on hold for a total of 20 minutes. After waiting for 10 minutes, I decide to press 1 to leave a message and am left on hold for three minutes. During those minutes, I wonder why their phone system is so poorly designed that I can't simply leave a message. An operator finally answers and asks if I can hold to which I state I've already been holding for 15 minutes - they mumble something and place me on hold before I can reply. I wait for anther five minutes then hang up. Is this terrible foreshadowing? Imagine if I were a sick patient that needed to schedule an appointment or reorder a prescription. read more

I changed my views on doctors because of Dr. Felt, when my dad was admitted to Summit, Dr. Felt unfortunately was the doctor for the first few days of him being there, Dr. Felt is closed minded and only wanted to believed what he thought was the reason for my dad's illness, even when we told him that it didn't make sense. Another doctor took over and suggested to run some tests, that's when we found out my dad had meningitis. Unfortunately everything spiral downhill from there. And it all happened because Dr.Felt left my dad untreated for a few days believing it was something else, telling us my dad will get better. Well he never recovered and suffered for 18 months at a nursing facility. Don't goto this doctor, if he gets assigned to you, request for another one. read more

Dr. Felt has seen my physician for over eight years. He has always been accessible, helpful and straightforward with me about my condition and available treatment. Every health concern I have had has always been handled with a supportive and optimistic approach. I am happy to have found him. read more

I have been going to Dr Felt for three years now and am extremely satisfied with him and his office. They are responsive and friendly. I like his bed-side manner and his style fits me. I recently changed insurances and I had a choice to choose an insurance that does not include Dr Felt and I chose to stay with him even though the other insurance was cheaper, sometimes you truly get what you pay for... read more

Dr. Felt is an assault against women. This is the worst doctor I have ever seen. He said he does not feel comfortable prescribing birth control, and warned me it might prevent me from getting pregnant after I have stopped taking it. That is absolutely incorrect according to studies on women taking the pill since the 1970s. Next he told me that when I travel to regions within countries with an extremely high rate of malaria (I do this for work) for a week or two, that I should not take anti-malaria medication. Malaria is particularly deadly to people who did not grow up in malaria endemic regions, and so Felt may be condemning people who listen to him to death or recurrent life-long disease. Finally, during the visit he repeatedly remarked on my being thin. It was disgusting. If I wasn't a busy person, I would report him to authorities. I've been a patient of Dr. Felt for at least 25 years. And after recently moving to Nevada, I still make the 3 hour trip down to see him. He has always been honest with me and gives me encouragement despite my many failings. It's a drag getting older, but he has helped me make my journey with dignity. I couldn't ask for a better lifetime doctor. read more

I would imagine there are many people in the care of Dr. Felt that haven't posted any comments but after my experience today... I thought I'd take the five minutes. He is excellent. He clearly has a passion for helping people and a sincere approach to connecting with patients. If you are new in town or looking for different PCP... I give the highest recommendation. read more

I had a very negative experience with Dr. Felt. Two weeks prior to my visit with Dr. Felt, I had gone to see another physician in his practice because I had been experiencing chest pains. This doctor had chalked my affliction up to a viral irritation, so while he had ordered some chest x-rays, he suggested that it might resolve in a few days. I have limited financial means, so I decided to wait it out and not spend the money on the x-ray immediately, nor on a battery of other unrelated standard blood tests, including an HIV test. The chest pains didn't go away, so after about two weeks I did get the x-ray and discovered that I had a pneumothorax, a partially collapsed lung. This was on a Friday, so over the weekend I did some web research and learned about how pneumothoraces are caused, treated, etc. Monday I called the practice and made an appointment with the next available doctor, which turned out to be Dr. Felt. After updating Dr. Felt on everything that had come happened so far, the first thing he does is criticize me for not having gotten the x-ray sooner or gotten the blood work done at all. This rubs me the wrong way a bit, as 'waiting it out' had seemed to be a perfectly reasonable course of action given the other doctor's summation of the situation, plus I did not feel Dr. Felt was being very sensitive to my financial situation. He could have said, "I know that money is a concern, but it is important that we see the results of those tests", but he didn't. Instead he lectured me in a very pedantic, contemptuous manner. At this point I mentioned to him that some of the test really were not necessary, particularly the HIV test. I have had the same one sexual partner for the past eight years, and we had both been tested just a few months prior. The chances of my being exposed to HIV were literally nil. I explained all this to him, but he continued to lecture me. At some point I told Dr. Felt, "Look, I appreciate your advice, but I do have the right as a patient to choose not to do these tests." Instead of simply acknowledging that and moving on, he got very defensive and snapped back, "And I have the right as a doctor to refuse treatment to a patient who isn't cooperative." I could not believe that he was being so childish. By the way, have you forgotten that I came in to see the doctor about MY COLLAPSED LUNG? I almost had, too. When we finally start to talk about the actual legitimate medical emergency I'm facing, he is clearly clueless. He goes to some online medical database and starts reading me a bunch of stuff that I already learned from Mayo Clinic. It was offensive that reading copy directly from a screen was his idea of treatment. The one worthwhile thing he did was refer me to the pulmonologist in his practice, Dr. Khan, who is actually knowledgeable and seems like a decent human being as well. read more

ZERO STARS. HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE MEDICINE. My 76 year old mother was admitted to Sutter Delta hospital. She has Parkinson's and the previous two weeks she had been having hallucinations and delusions. It had never happened before and we were quite scared. Felt(I refuse to acknowledge he is a doctor) was assigned to my mother. From the moment he walked into the room my mother was doomed. He stated again and again that this was dementia, and there was nothing to be done. When we explained it was sudden onset he did not care or listen. When we said she did not have dementia he ignored us. He did not examine my mother, not one time did he look at her. He never charted anything. He never touched her. He never established a baseline, so he did not notice the following 3 days that my mother was declining and fast. He was condescending, demeaning, and just did not care. He was happy to let her lay there. She went from talking to unresponsive in 3 days and Felt did not notice. We had him removed from the case and one day later my mother was diagnosed, treated, and is currently healing. She had encephalopathy and we are hoping the delay in diagnosis did not cause permanent damage. He is a disgrace to the profession. You can remove a doctor from a case, do not put your loved ones health into his uncaring hands. If we had not had him removed I truly believe my mother would have died. read more
