I just had the most horrible experience with the owner of this business and highly recommend that…read morepotential customers go elsewhere if they want to do business with a company that treats its customers with courtesy and owns up to its mistakes rather than one that tries to blame the customer for the company's errors. Specifically, I had asked a service desk intake representative if I should leave and return later once service on my riding mower tire replacement was complete, but I was told that they could take care of it right then and that it would be done in 20 minutes. When the tire was still sitting on the floor by the intake representative's desk 10 minutes later (in other words not even in the hands of a service technician half way into the time I was estimated), I went back to the intake representative and asked for anther estimate on how long it was further going to be since it didn't seem likely that they'd be able complete the tire work in the remaining 10 minutes on their estimate (and I was looking to do other things in the meanwhile and come back later to pick up the tire rather than continue to wait for longer). The intake representative was very pleasant and other than giving me an incorrect idea of the wait time did nothing wrong. However, when the intake representative went to her manager (who turned out to be the company owner) to check on the whereabouts of the service technician who was supposed to be doing the work, I was treated as if it was my fault that the company wasn't able to live up to the timing that the company itself's intake representative set. I was told by the owner/manager that "they guarantee service in 24 hours" (which I was never told by the intake representative) but that they'd been trying to do me "a favor" by taking care of the work right then. I could not believe that I was basically being blamed for asking for some sort of unreasonable special treatment, when I had set my expectations based on what the intake representative had told me. (It's not as if I had ever taken a riding mower tire to be repaired before, so I trusted the intake representative's estimate.) I told the owner/manager that I was not to blame for the intake representative's error, that they could not excuse their error by saying that they couldn't find the technician who may still have been at lunch (which should have been looked into before I was told there would only be a 20 minute wait), that I had never been advised that they wanted 24 hours to do the work, that I had initially asked if I should leave the tire and come back later once the work was finished, and that I had certainly never asked for the favor of waiting for the work to be done in 20 minutes (instead that had been offered to me by the intake desk representative). The owner/manager never took accountability for the error and never apologized. Instead, I was treated as if I were to blame for not appreciating that they had been trying to give me special treatment of some sort (which I had never asked for and didn't know I was supposedly being given when I was told the wait would only be 20 minutes). I ended up telling the owner/manager that they had lost any future business from me, and further proving what a terrible business she runs, she basically replied that she didn't want my future business. I'm writing to warn others not to use this company either. I would give a zero star review, but it seems I have to give at least one star in order to post this review, so that's the only reason this business gets one star from me.

Had my riding mower serviced here. When service was done, my mower never worked properly…read morethereafter. The fuel filter didn't allow fuel to get to the carburator. I called James River and explained the problem with their service, so they sent the same tech out and BILLED ME AGAIN to correct the poor job they did in the first place. Also, they billed me to "shapen my blades" even though I didn't ask for it because my blades were brand new. They also added a $125 charge for transportation, but they never transported my riding mower anywhere. Very poor service, items added to my bill I didn't want or ask for, apparent bogus line items, and a questionable billing department makes me say STAY AWAY. I placed a call to their service department to see if they'd care to rectify any of these issues. I understand their billing department is experiencing issues due to covid... but I'm pretty disappointed and will seek elsewhere. Will update my review if they clear these mistakes up. By the way, my mower still has never performed well ever since they performed their "annual service". Will go elsewhere to fix whatever they did to my fuel filter. I suspect the wrong one was installed. 10/4/21: UPDATE: It's been over a month and still management has not called me back to discuss the billing mistake. And now they've sent the same exact wrongful bill with a late charge STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!
