I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. I would go elsewhere and not trust this place with your time or money.

I had a very disappointing experience at Tustin Dental Center. I originally went in for a routine…read morecleaning and was told that an older crown needed to be replaced. I trusted their recommendation, but I regret moving forward. The first replacement crown was unsatisfactory, so they remade it. Unfortunately, the second one looked even worse to me. The color did not match my other teeth, and the crown was much too large. After two attempts, I lost confidence in their ability to get it right. I was also concerned that continuing to redo the work would mean removing more of my natural tooth. I traveled from Los Angeles to Tustin expecting quality work, especially given how nice the dental office looked. However, the crown laboratory appeared old and outdated to me, and the final results did not meet my expectations. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Tustin Dental Center, especially for crown work.

She…read moredoes such a great job and I love that she also explains everything and teaches me more about my teeth and oral health. I recently had my old silver fillings replaced with white fillings and the whole experience was way easier than I expected. Gina has such gentle hands, made me feel super comfortable, and even the numbing shots weren't nearly as bad as I remembered. The office experience has been great too. Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly, and the office itself is clean, comfortable, and has a really nice atmosphere. From the moment I walk in, I feel taken care of. Definitely glad I made the switch!

I've always been wanting to get composite bonding for my two front teeth when I got my braces off…read more I finally decided to do it and went to three places for consultation. Not only did Dr. Gina beat the other places in price, she is really sweet and understanding. You never feel intimidated asking questions, which I really appreciate since I'm more on the timid side. I ended up getting veneers instead of composite bonding. A lot of places will try to upsell you and have you do 6-8 teeth, but Dr. Gina recommended I only do two teeth since I'm young. She keeps up with modern technology. We did a mock up of the teeth and the veneers are made in a lab. The technology she uses also tells her how much to shave off. My veneers blend seemlessly, not bulky and the color is an exact match. The time I came to try my veneers, I asked for more of a rounded shape, and they sent it back to add more, which I really appreciate. Overall I am highly satisfied and would recommended Dr. Gina for your veneers. Ps: I also got my teeth whitened and did new retainers here. All in one place. :)

They will…read moretry to present it as a copay of $19.90 if you question it, they tell you they know insurance doesn't cover it, so they only charge you 10%. If you already paid, be sure to request the OFFICIAL billing statement rather than the Financial Agreement ESTIMATE (if it says "estimated," it is just an ESTIMATE, not what was actually billed). Verify charges with your insurance, especially if you have a PPO. Things to look out for (like with any other predatory dentist): 1. Bait-and-Switch Imaging Costs: Quoting or masking expensive 3D CBCT scans (Code D0367) as a minor $19.90 copay on internal estimates, only for insurance to reject it and stick you with the full $404 retail cash rate. 2. Padding bills with Unapproved Add-Ons : Note that, according to Delta Dental provider guidelines, adjunctive or decontamination techniques (often billed as D4999) cannot be billed separately to patients when performed alongside scaling and root planing (D4341 or D4342), meaning these extra charges should never have been passed to the patient in the first place. https://www1.deltadentalins.com/dentists/fyi-online/2026/scaling-root-planing.html 3. Sliding a Cost Agreement or financial responsibility form AFTER the procedure is already completed -- or stacking them into your exit documents and payment receipts to trick you into signing. (This is why you must always demand an itemized billing receipt before signing any forms at checkout.) 4. Mass Periodontal Disease Diagnosis (based on reviews): routinely diagnosing patients with minor gum issues as aggressive periodontal disease (requiring expensive multi-quadrant scaling and root planning) and refusing a regular cleaning after rejecting deep cleaning. Don't be fooled, get a second opinion, and do your research.

Which is why I often find myself preferring dental pain to actually going in to a dentist. It's unfortunate and I've paid the price. Three years ago I had to have a root canal and it was an awful experience. I ended up returning to that dental office 5 times to get them to fix the pain I was still in - eventually I gave up and just dealt with it and it took a year+ for whatever it was to stop hurting. I knew then I had two other teeth I needed to deal with, and I didn't. Instead I waited until one was lost and the other needed a root canal. I found Dr. Matt via a local search for my insurance and his demeanor on the phone instantly relaxed me - so I took the leap and went in. I'm so happy I did!
