This is a public reply to William P. on his review. While I appreciate his opening comments which were true, the following paragraphs are not accurate and need to be addressed.
First, the contract stated that there would have to be holes cut into the sheet rock to install the pipe since it was an existing structure and there is no other way to get the new pipes into the wall. In this case there were issues with the structure of the house that made it difficult, i.e. unusual cross braces in the wall. All of this was explained to the customer as the job progressed and after completion by me as well as the City inspector. In fact, it was the City inspector who told the customer that our company went "above and beyond", not me. At no time did I minimize the impact of the installation and spent a great deal of time explaining the reason for each hole and installation. It is normal to raise the water heater as we have to install a drain to the outside and it is necessary to get above the floor plate in the wall.
Second, the crew did pick up their tools every day and the apprentice did inadvertently pick up the customers tools not knowing they were his. These were returned when the customer informed the foreman.
Third, the customer was supposed to pay when the job was complete but refused to pay until inspection was complete. The day the inspector arrived and inspected the job the customer claimed he forgot his checkbook. Afterwards he would not return my phone calls and messages. I finally had to go to his home (the work was done on a house he had purchased) and wait 2 hours until he got home to request payment. Only at this point did he mention the missing items and wanted a discount on the price. It should be noted that the owner would come unlock the house in the morning before we got there and then return and lock the house after we had left. That means that there were times that the house was unlocked and unattended. Also, when our men was in the attic and upstairs, the house was open and not under their supervision. The items he accused my men of stealing seemed to me something a child would take but I never observed any of the things he claimed were missing as the house was totally vacant and empty. My employees have been with me for a long time and would not risk their job to steal from a customer, especially children's toys.
Finally, after all the years we have been in business, I have rarely found a customer to be as resistant to reason and the facts, not only from me but also the City inspector. I believe you must be a person of integrity in order to have it questioned. My advise to any contractor called by this person is do not waste your time. read more
