My husband and I have been with Dr. Lieber for many years. His bedside manner is all business, which may put some people off, but he has always treated me respectfully and addressed my concerns. He will direct you to a specialist if he feels it is necessary. His office is well automated and blood tests are done in the office and available the next day. He can send your prescription directly to the pharmacy if one is needed so there is no wait time. I was able to go directly to the pharmacy and my prescription is there waiting for me. Dr. James Lieber has been my Primary Doctor since 2016 when my husband and I moved to Arizona. Since we visited him for the first time, he has taken care of my high blood pressure for a long time and made a lot of efforts to try different medicine to deal with my hypertension. I've been with Dr. Lieber for over 14 years. Over that time I've seen him every 3 months. I get bloodwork done in his office and then at my appointment he explains where I'm out-of-range, what my options are, and suggests what I should do. He's business like and professional and I see that he cares and lets me know when my labwork shows I need to adjust. He asks me to have the specialists for the other ailments to send their reports to him. He monitors them to get a full picture of my health. With the staff all to eager to do NOTHING, it certainly doesn't leave a warm & fuzzy feeling for a patient that the Dr is going to be much different! Knowing you are only as good as your staff, since after all everything trickles DOWN from the top!! When a patient is explaining word for word, EXACTLY what their HMO Ins Co stated needed to be put on the referral form, and they are repeatedly interrupted with attitude, and in the end told they don't even need a referral....hhmmm think about that one for a second!! Dr. Lieber diagnosed me quickly after seeing him for first time for referral for mammogram. Had pain under sternum for few days, chills & sweats, ate only saltines & banana each day; barely slept.He thought gallbladder needs to be removed; said but I eat healthy! Said pardon me for saying this but many women over age 40 develop gallstones.Took blood,urine (was orange!) & ref for ultrasound.Called me next day said liver enzymes off chart.Ultrasound scheduled next morning;asked me to come in right after for more tests.By this time I was walking bent over;guarding right side.He saw me & said "R U in pain?!" said yes, pain also in upper right quadrant of back & haven't slept in few days. "Go to ER; I may be wrong but believe you need your gallbladder out; tell them pain is 10/10. I could run more tests but you'd have to wait several days; go to ER." Went to ER, admitted right away, gallstone blocking bile duct to small intestine. He called me a few hours later to be sure they saw the ultrasound; they had. Thanked him. Said call me if you need anything. Two nights in hospital: 1st night removed gallstone via ECRP under anesthetic, 2nd night laparoscopic removal of gallbladder under anesthetic. I got a bill 2 - 3 months after my last visit. Called the office and tried to get in touch with the billing manager. I knew she would never call back but I left a message anyways. Never got return call. That same day knowing I would never get that call back I called at 4:20 to try and maybe pay my bill again using my HSA card through the front desk. I had to give the person at the front my card number 2 times. Both times they said it wouldn't go through because they were receiving a fax. In fact the person trying to run the card didn't even know how to do it. They offered to write down the information and run the card later. First of all that's ILLEGAL. I said no way and told them to call me back when they were able to run the card. I got a call from the office a few no message left. Wow! So I called them back and they ran my card. Again, I never spoke to the billing person. FYI other Dr offices have ways to pay by app or on their website. My pharmacy screwed up and asked the Dr to refill one of my prescriptions and the Dr did fill this one but kept denying the others. Got a call from Stevie letting me know they needed me to come in and do a blood test. I can't believe they never put 2+2 together since I wasn't even calling for my monthly prescriptions anymore. I had to tell her I wasn't a patient anymore. To update you all: Nosmile went to work for a funeral home. That is what the people at the front desk told me. That cracked me up. DO NOT under any circumstances consider Dr. Lieber as your physician especially for an older patient.. The office staff fails to return calls, his medical assistant cannot be understood and also fails to return calls and they care not at all. Someone tell me a single medically rational reason a physician would NOT prescribe an appetite booster for a 91 year old man whose daughter and POA and whose home health nurse states has not eaten for 5 days due to a suspected UTI - a recurrent UTI the doctor has treated more than once. Is there a single viable medical reason to ever NOT help a patient take in nutrition. Oh right, there is one - to force a visit so you can bill Medicare. This guy is the worst excuse for a physician ever and his primary concern is billing. His office staff is terrible and by looking at other reviews I realize many have similar experiences. Coding errors and non return of phone calls to remedy the situation. Left messages with no call backs from his assistant and front staff. Phones turned off a good deal of the time. Completely ignoring a followup phone call. Today I was hung up on without even a goodbye when I left a third message with no followup from last week. Tone and rudness seems to be common from my experience as well as the reviews left before me. You would think with so many negative reviews they would change their tune. Very poor office skills. I find Dr. Lieber extremely competent. His dry sense of humor meshes well with mine so 2-way communication is good. He will make his recommendations but is very willing to try something if you request, as long as it will not endanger you. I have been a patient for over 20 nears. I find Dr. Lieber to be very knowledgeable and thorough. He has respect for his patients and their time. The appointment time is when he is going to walk into the examining room so be there a little early. He will listen to you problems, suggest solutions or recommend where you need to go for further evaluation or therapy. The staff at his office has always been helpful and professional. I refuse to add even 1 star because this Doctor and office are the worst I've ever been to. The front office staff are like 2 young girls, and this is their first job. My 15 year old daughter can do way better than them. They lied to me about sending a referral that I had waited 2 weeks for. They had absolutely no class when speaking to the patients. When you walk to the rooms, they have empty rooms filled with junk and stacks of papers. The room they take you to for blood work was a total mess too. Very unsanitary! Now the doctor himself is arrogant and all he kept saying, was "What else do you need." He had zero bedside manners and acted like we were a burden to him. I actually give 5 Stars to Dr. Lieber ONLY! I've only seen him once and he is great! I expressed my concerns and he took tests and got me the meds I needed right away. Other doctors never did that. I have had a high blood pressure reading for a few years now. My other doctor never seemed concerned cause I was so young. Dr. Leiber put me on high blood pressure meds, and I feel safer now. The reason for my 3 Star rating. The NEGATIVE. The main office lady is rude, rude, rude! It could be cause I have "free" insurance. But I was employed making great money at a bank, then got laid off. Now I am employed again, and I don't know if me having free insurance (which now I will get company insurance once I hit my 90 day mark), was what made her be so unbelievably rude. I have never been treated so poorly by someone. I have encountered her a few times too (on the phone and in person), RUDE every single time. She is the older lady in the front with short hair. If she hates her job so much, she should do everyone else a favor and quit or not be in a customer service type position. All other staff was very friendly and helpful! read more

Dr. Lieber has been my primary physician for the last three years. The reason I chose this man was his specialty in Internal Medicine since he would be much more attuned in the going on's of my body. His hours are not bad from 7:30am until 4p, i think M-F. I like that blood work can be done at his office as well as how he interacts with his patients. He provides advice and suggestions and ensures that you ask questions, and when you do he provides not a brief broad answer but rather he looks into it. Like his staff as well. I heard he is a good doctor and I didn't see that at all. I took my son who was visiting from Pennsylvania to get an order for blood work and he charge two times: one for writing the order and a second one, he said that my son had a physical but he never even touch my son, not even to shake hands. I worked in the medical field for a long time and I know exactly what a physical is. Furthermore, he never gave us enough time. I am writing this to warn you when you get the charges. I understand we trust our doctors but for non ethical doctors like this we loose our trust. I also agree that we need to make our living, but please be honest. This is a career that we have to do it with all our hearts and lots of compassion. This is not a career just to make money and lie to patients with charges for services not given. read more

Two stars because the experience was not an unqualified disaster, but I would not recommend Doctor Lieber. I hadn't had a physical in awhile, and needed a new primary care doctor for my new insurance. I put this off for awhile, but then I broke my toe and that spurred me to get it done since I figured he could reassure me about the toe at the same time. Making an appointment was easy and the office/desk was nice and helpful. The visit with the doctor was rather perfunctory. He did a quick physical, and took a glance at my toe, referring me to get it X-rayed. He said that if the break was above a certain point, I'd be fine just taping my toes together and waiting for it to heal. But if it was lower, he'd want to refer me to a foot specialist. So far, fine. I would have preferred a bit more interest in getting to know a new patient, but whatever. I appreciated the thoroughness about the toe injury, I had expected just a simple "yeah, not much we can do, just tape it". I got the toe X-rayed. The next day (Friday), I received a recorded phone call telling me to call into the doctor's message service (they had told me about this service at the visit). I call in and hear a recording of the front desk person struggling to read the diagnosis: "Your X-rays came back. You have a non-displaced 5th proximal phalanx fracture." End of message. Clearly, since I have a medical degree this is useful information to me! I did a bit of quick googling, and I *think* it meant I was fine with just tape, but I called the office to see what they had to say. Doctor Lieber was out already, so she left a message for him about my (I think rather reasonable) query. Today is Monday, and the desk just called me back. Desk person: "Doctor Lieber says he can refer you to a podiatrist." Me: "Uh, do I need that? I thought that was only going to be necessary if the break was lower down in the foot. Is that where it is?" Desk person: "Well, he doesn't think it's necessary, but he'll refer you if that's what you want." Me: "No, I just want to know what he recommends. If I don't need it, then I don't want to go to a podiatrist." I can't remember what she said after that, but nothing helpful. So, tl;dr; Doctor Lieber referred me to get X-rays, and the only follow up I received after that was a badly read message containing the technical name for the bone I fractured. After attempting to follow up, he offered to (I think) unnecessarily refer me to a specialist. I never received any kind of actionable medical advice from Doctor Lieber about my injury. The search for a doctor continues. read more

Great doctor, quick appointments, but lacking service. I generally feel as if I'm bothersome when I call; and on several occasions, requests for medical records or other information has disappeared into the void of "I'll have x call you" or "call back in a week", just to have to start the process all over again. The appointments are seriously easy; same-day sometimes; I really want exhort them for ease of scheduling. Also, the gals who draw my blood are very pleasant where I enjoy the process. A few years ago I needed a new PCP and my daughter's pediatrician recommended Dr. Lieber. He was close to the home, took our insurance, and was recommended. I went for an initial consult and really liked him. He was quite thorough (without over doing it) and they even do their blood work right there in office. I would suggest Lieber. I choose Dr. Lieber to be my physician *before* I relocated to AZ from NJ in 2009 (online research). The office staff is attentive, helpful, and efficient, and nurse Stevie was there in 2009 and is still there. Dr. Lieber has just the right amount of reserve. He offers great advice--the time I asked about any new and interesting diet pills and he advised, "All of the pills have side effects. 1200 calories a day and exercise." I lost 50 lbs in around 18 months. When he noticed the weight loss I told him I'd followed his advice. He asked what he'd advised and when I told him he said (deadpan): "Most people tell me that doesn't work." All kidding aside, he is a guy I trust completely with my health and well-being. read more

Dr. Lieber is very professional and he is very knowledgeable. Appointments are usually easy to make and there is usually not much waiting in the office. My only complaint is that he won't renew prescriptions for a long enough period, so I have to come back to the office more often than I would prefer. read more

I would not recommend this doctor he doesn't listen to you, he doesn't act or show that he is concerned! or that he even know what the issues really are because he does not listen to you, if he does it like telling someone that has no training in the medical field. He will waste your time and money that could be used by a Doctor that knows what they are doing and cares!!, it's poor serves at best!!!. My pain doctor is better at diagnosing a medical problem then this doctor and it's not even his field. Lieber doesn't give you much help and he is very dismissive about the issues that you have. He over talks you and border line argumentized with the way he answer and questions you have. He likes to pass you off and collect his pay. not worth your time or money. I have been a patient of Dr. Lieber for over a year and I would not recommend him or his office to anyone! Making appointments are the only thing that is easy to do. His bed side manner is gruff and I felt like he just wanted me out of there. One time he asked me if I wanted my medicine dose increased. I said I don't know what do you suggest? He asked what I thought. Getting scripts filled and talking to anyone takes at least 1 to 2 days. I was without several medications for 5 days and an other for 2 weeks while we waited for blood work even though I had been on medicine for 9 years. The assistant told me 3 different times she would call me and never did. I had to call her each time and wait 1 to 2 days for a call back. I'm currently waiting 2 weeks for another medicine that was to be called in and I just found out it hasn't been. I've been without this medicine for a week. I won't get a call back until tomorrow at the earliest because his assistant won't talk to you the same day. Last time I had to go into the office asking for my scripts because I wasn't getting a call back and the scripts weren't called in. The Dr. was off when I went in and the lady Dr. he shares an office with wouldn't fill my scripts. I had to go to my cardiologist to get them filled even though I had been trying for the 2 weeks to get Lieber to fill them. Once I get this last script filled I'm going to another Dr. I have never had this type of relationship with a Dr. before in my life.
