I only went in for a cleaning, which they didn't do because they said my issue was so severe. Dr. Allison cleaned my teeth, went over my X-rays and assured me there was no severe bone loss. She then did a very though job checking my teeth to very fine detail and determining everything that will be necessary and put together a plan complete with price estimates for different things. She doesn't over book patients to mass produce. She is happy to take whatever time you need to ask questions and understand the answers. She sees you even when you are just getting a cleaning to go over your treatment plan again. She also knows her limits and will refer you when you need more help. I am going to have to get a crown on a tooth that will be very difficult. I have diabetes and other issues that can complicate things. So for the crown she is sending me to UNC-CH dental clinic for patients with medical problems so I can get properly anesthetized by someone highly trained in using anesthesia. Her secretary is great and works very hard for the patients including working the health insurance system to pay their do quickly and cover as much as possible. Flexible with payment options for what you still have to pay out-of-pocket.

New in town, hard to know how to choose the right dentist…read more When I called Triangle Family Dentistry on Carpenter Fire Station Road, I spoke to a gentleman who was so assuring that Dr. Smith would be a great match with my particular needs. So first visit Ashley was awesome with my periodontal cleaning ( I get those 4x per year) She was gentle, knowledgeable, kind, professional and efficient! I met my dentist, Matt and asked about a couple crowns. He assured he could do it and today he did, with the assistance of Mia! I believe it was the smoothest crown work I've ever had. I never even felt a needle go in for the numbing. I had a particularly difficult kind of old crown to take off but he was completely confident and I felt very comfortable the whole time. Ashley, Mia, and Matt were very attentive to my neck problems and made sure I was comfortable through both those procedures. The facility itself is just gorgeous. There is a grand of coffee in the lobby. Plus water. Lobby comfy, roomy, and well furnished. Receptionists, check out staff, everyone professional and kind. I am thrilled to have found my dental care providers! Parking is at a premium, but a few more yards to walk is not a big deal!

His office staff was very nice and easy to work with. His hygienist Hannah was phenomenal. Here is my problem, in those 7 years, Dr. Nelson repeatedly found cavities. I had fillings on multiple teeth at least 4 times. I never questioned it. My last visit with Dr. Nelson was right before I moved out of Durham, he said he had found more cavities that needed to be filled. I went to a new dentist when I moved to get it addressed and he said I had no cavities. I went back to my childhood dentist for a third opinion and he also found no cavities. In the seven years since I left Dr. Nelson, I have seen 5 different dentists and no one has found a single cavity. So I have a mouth full of fillings that I suspect was never needed. That makes me sad.
