    Utah's Best Sweet Potato Pie
    Jolene L.

Confessions of a pie eater: 1. I heard about Utah's best sweet potato pie and it put me on a mission. I went to the Salt Lake City farmers market for one reason and one reason only. I confess, I bought a full pie and three cookies. 2. I've had a lot of sweet potato pie in my years. From Hawaii to California and any state I visited, I've tasted many versions of sweet potato pie. I confess, this is my new favorite. 3. I love the thick texture of this sweet potato pie filling. It's not too sweet and you can taste a hint of cinnamon. I confess, the pieces of pineapple takes this sweet potato filling to a whole other level of pie goodness. 4. While I cannot speak about shipping and handling for those outside of the SLC area, I do know that I will visit the farmers market when ever I need to fix my sweet potato pie crave. I confess, it feels great to support this Black Veteran Owned Business. 5. Half the pie seems to be missing the day of purchase. Pardon me, I confess I have an appointment with the treadmill now LOL Thank you James for your service. Thank you also for sharing this very delicious sweet potato pie with Utah and beyond.

So I ordered a pie on September 1, 2021 and was supposed to be here by September 3rd (2 Day Shipping) That didn't happen they emailed and said the orders are backed up so they will ship my pie off on September 7th. I'm like ok I'm not in a rush to receive my pie no problem. So finally the contact me the pie will be shipped September 8th ( Wednesday ) So I finally received my pie a week late but I was excited to finally try it. Another problem occurred they shipped my sweet potato pie without dry ice and you can imagine a pie getting shipped in a box without dry ice for 3 days See pics smh That's just lazy to not ship correctly ‍

I have never been a fan of pumpkin pie but I've heard my husband wax poetic about sweet potato pie for years so when I saw James Gourmet Pies being sold I knew I had to buy one for research purposes! All I can say is WOW!! This pie is amazing!! The depth of flavor is out of control. It has almost a brûlée like crust on the top that I am a HUGE fan of. I highly recommend you order one to try this deliciousness out for yourself!

I've had a few sweet potato pies before.... This one by far has been the best!

Picked up a sweet potato pie at the Wheeler Farm farmer's market, and it was out of this world delicious and delightful.

The atmosphere though is SO cute! You are greeted with walls of pink flowers and tons of spots to take cute Instagram worthy pictures! The service was good. We went on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't busy. There is a sign stating they are short staffed and I only saw one sweet lady running the whole show. We didn't have to wait very long for food because she was surprisingly quick! Very friendly too. The food was very good! Good size, great flavor and beautiful presentation. They had so much to choose from on the menu that all sounded amazing. My only complaint is for a crepe, it's pricey. Almost $20 for a crepe is why I knocked a star off. Other than that, I'd recommend this place for a nice brunch spot with the girls!

It's a small little place that shares an entrance with a restaurant. They do have a handful of tables available to eat in, or they do take out as well. They have Hispanic music videos playing on a tv and the music coming through the speakers. The people working there were so kind and helpful. They helped us completely customize our desserts, and made us white girls feel completely welcome and not out of place at all. It was a fun, bright, inviting place! They have a wide variety of sweet and savory snacks, that all look addictively delicious. We were specifically looking for dessert and were tempted by SO many tasty options. We all decided on a variation of an ice cream filled concha. Is this a common Hispanic thing? I have never seen it before, not even on my trips to Mexico, but it is GENIUS!!! Concha's, if you don't know, are kind of like a Mexican donut/pastry. It's essentially a non sweet roll with chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla icing in the design of a shell on top. It's a perfect balance of sweet and savory. So imagine that tasty roll filled with ice cream, Nutella, and fruit! Mind blown right?! The concha had chocolate icing, I chose marzipan ice cream (it's not a Scandinavian almond marzipan, but a Hispanic peanut marzipan that's similar to a candy), Nutella, and strawberries on top. The portions were huge and with tax it only cost $7. Listen, I live in Draper and would GLADLY travel to Ogden to get this again! And as much as I'm obsessed with the ice cream concha, I also REALLY want to try some of the savory snacks too! So maybe I'll do a savory snack followed by a sweet snack next time. Anyway, it's a little hole in the wall that is COMPLETELY worth trying!!!! You need ice cream concha's in your life, trust me!
