My coworker and his family have been going to them for many years, and I can see why: their office has a very homey feel and they really get to know you as a person, not just a patient. Part of the notes they took two visits ago was that I had recently gotten engaged, so when the dentist came in to take a look, he congratulated me...and then they remembered to ask me about it when I came in again six months later! They also always ask about work and any other stuff I may have mentioned the last time I was in. I've recommended him to another coworker who now really likes him as well. I am blessed with good teeth so I only ever get routine cleanings, but they do a very good job.

I have extreme anxiety when it comes to the dentist and for no specific reason. The dentists are great, but there is one dental hygienist who was awful with me. I told her about my anxiety and she was just rude and inconsiderate. I almost told her to forget it and that I'd just go somewhere else. I really like the dentist but I hope that the hygienist was just having a bad day. The other dental hygienist was so nice and sweet with me that I hope that I get the nicer one on my next visit.

dr. charlie carmichael is an absolute gem…read more he has been my dentist over 10 years, and his staff is & has always been nice and professional. dr. carmichael has a gentle hand, EXCELLENT bedside manners, and is genuinely concerned about his patients - in 2021 i had unexpected pain over early in the am (between 1:30 - 2:30) & he phoned me back & told me to come into the office as soon as i could after his office opened. upon arriving, they fit me in as a walk-in & dr. carmichael examined me & informed an upper molar on the left had cut a hole on the backside of gum and needed to be extracted - approximately 20 mins later, that tooth was outta there. on 06.13.24, i had a scheduled appointment for a wisdom tooth issue, and again, within 20 mins, the gentle hands surgically removed the tooth. i have had very minimum pain, even after the local anesthesia began to subside. he is a god-send to the industry, and without hesitation, i highly recommended dr. charlie carmichael blessings. have a happy 1, dinkens

It's in an unassuming little building along lower Henderson that I've driven by about 2,250 times without ever noticing that it's there. When my longtime dentist in Lakewood went out of network with Delta Dental, I found this place, which is in the Delta network. When I made my first appointment, I did find it odd that I had to wait a few weeks, while the dentist I was going to see awaited "recredentialing" from the insurance company - a term I was unfamiliar with. Also, they required an up-front $50 deposit, which I had also never encountered. But I haven't been a new patient anywhere in about 25 years, maybe that's the new normal. So 3 years go by, my dentist (who has since left) seemed solid. I had a few checkups and one crown to replace several deteriorating childhood fillings in the same tooth. It wasn't perfect at first, but the doc did some shaping and it seems okay now. They did always seem eager to push me toward expensive treatments with specialists, but I'm getting older, and those may be totally legit. Who knows? And then my company changed insurance providers from Delta to Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I called weeks before my next appointment to verify they accepted my insurance. "Oh sure, we take that" they assured me. A few days before my checkup, they text and ask for pictures of the front and back of my insurance card, which I happily send to them. I have my checkup, everything's great, I schedule my next one, take my free toothbrush and go home. A few weeks later, I get a bill for $78 for my routine checkup that should be fully covered by insurance. So I call, and they tell me that while the new dentist is (you guessed it) awaiting recredentialing with BCBS, I'm "temporarily out of network". So they knew this the whole time I was asking them about my new provider and sending them my insurance info 3 DAYS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT, and nobody bothered to say "hey, we do accept BCBS, but you're out of network right now, it's going to cost you $80, unless you wait until you're back in network". How hard could that have been??? I guess if you'd rather have my $80 than have me as a patient going forward, it's pretty hard.

The word that keeps playing in my head is "bamboozled". I'm a salesman's dream, and a real sucker for a sales pitch, especially if it's something related to cosmetics and functionality. I needed a front tooth replaced where a crown that I had from an old daycare injury, that has haunted my teeth since I was 8 years old. All I wanted was my tooth replaced, but I ended up getting a bridge that makes my smile very pretty, albeit fake looking too. I don't know that I needed to spend that much money when my smile was not that bad. Hindsight is something... The saddest part is that I needed a cleaning during all of this, but was told I needed the deep cleaning. The first part (top teeth) was almost $200. I asked if the cost would be that much for the lower teeth and was told no. I was buying the medicine that made the charge that high for the first visit. The following week I went in for the lower teeth. They waited until I was done, and when I went to pay, they let me know I owed almost $500. I cried from checkout all the way downstairs to my car and then some. I know I'm responsible for making adult decisions, and I should have shopped around, but when your front tooth falls out, there is no time for any of that. I feel like I was taken advantage of, and no one cared that I'll be homeless due to the money i had to drop. I truly hope I never have to see this office again.
