I ran into a delay at work and was 10 minutes late. There is only a 5 minute grace period and then they just went home and didn't even call me. I ended up having to reschedule and can't get an appointment for two months. I find that unprofessional. I understand I was late, but really I'm the last patient of the day. If they would have called me to say they needed to reschedule I would not be so mad - but to just leave and I'm still racing to get there - unacceptable. read more

This is strictly about office "policy". I missed an appointment and was charged $60 for a no show. When I called to get a copy of X-rays that were taken previously, I was told the balance had to be paid prior to then releasing my X-rays. ????? So you mean to tell me that you are holding my x-ray that were already paid for by my insurance hostage because of a no show balance! I can understand not scheduling future appointments but not withholding something that has already been paid for. This seems unethical and money driven. If they had a website to pay the balance it would not be an issue. I don't give out my credit card info over the phone. Regardless that should not be a prerequisite for sending something that has already been paid for by my insurance. read more

I was a patient at Gateway Dental for years and always thought it was a good dental office until it wasn't. I go to the dentist every 6 months and get x-rays as needed. My last appointment Oct. 3rd I was told I had a cavity and it was deep and I needed a root canal. I cannot understand how this was not caught early. I went to the root canal specialist and was told it is too bad for a root canal and needs to be extracted. I'm now scheduled for oral surgery and I'm out $500. I normally saw Dr. Calabria but this last time saw Dr. Ellis. Dr. Ellis told me the cavity was visible on the x-ray in 2022. I was never told. I don't know if It was never noticed until they went back and reviewed the x-ray. No explanation. No apology. Oral surgeon said it is a slow growing cavity which makes me even more perplexed that Dr. Calabria never noticed it. Now I'm loosing a tooth! read more

I have always been greeted by name when I walk in by the friendly receptionist, make nice small-talk with the dental hygienist while she expertly cleans my teeth and checked on by Dr Ellis. He's really smart and personable, and makes me completely confident in his judgment and skills. I was introduced to Gateway at a work health fair, I had always over looked them and was reeled in by the other dentist that gave out 'free t-shirts' with an appointment. I learned my lesson, and finally decided to try out Gateway. Always friendly and professional, I learned what a real dentist is!! They are never pushy about work that 'really' needs to be done. The 'free t-shirt' dentist pushed services on you that require unnecessary, extensive work and 'financing is available' for this disease that will cause all my teeth to rot if I didn't get it done immediately. :( I never went back to that place, and I've been seeing Dr. Andre and Cindy for about 5 years now. I've never had a bad experience. From cleanings, to sand blasting preventative fillings, to 6 cavities being resolved it's all been a positive experience. Now my husband is a patient and he is experiencing the same great service. Choosing Gateway has been a breath of fresh air and it has kept me smiling pretty. :D read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Calabria and her hygienist (I believe it was Denise). Dr. Calabria did a great job at walking me, a very nervous patient, through the fillings. I'm glad she talked me into staying instead of letting me leave nervous. It may have taken me months to come back. She worked quickly and was thorough. The hygienist left my teeth feeling nice and clean, much better than the last dentist I saw. Additionally, they were able to see me within two days of my calling to make a new patient appointment. Dr. Calabria and the dental hygienist staff at Gateway Dental are wonderful. The problem is the atrocious billing office (or lack thereof). They submit claims months after the date of service, and they bill you months after the date of service (even after you pay your supposed co-pay) and they can't even fully tell you which visits the charges came from. It is a real shame because Dr. Calabria and her staff are great. They need to get their billing under control. We won't be going back any more. 5 stars for them, 0 stars for back office and billing. read more

I had a very painful infected tooth. I called Gateway Dental and they got me in the very next day at 8:30 am. Dr Ellis and his team were friendly, efficient and professional. Dr Ellis did a great job explaining my condition and why I needed a specialist. He treated my pain and infection well, offering me several options. His staff even took the time to find an in network specialist for me to see right away. His office waiting room is very comfortable with hot coffee available. The waiting room is more like being at home than in a dental clinic. I'd highly recommend Gateway Dental for your general dentistry needs. read more

I went here for about 5 years and had Great service when it came to cleanings and basic fillings. They decided I needed to have my old silver fillings replaced and when I had that done I had problems. I don't think this was necessary at the time. I had bad pain and had to go back to have it fixed. After going back they still didn't fix it and I continued to have some sensitivity. Months later I am now in extreme pain and having a root canal done somewhere else. Good for basics but I wouldn't recommend for anything more than that. read more

Dr. Ellis at Gateway Dental and Cindy, the hygienist are awesome! They are super friendly, fast and very efficient. Our family has been going to Dr. Ellis for about 6 years now and highly recommend this practice. They schedule early morning appointments so you don't have to miss work, they work off their schedule and they get you in and out quickly for routine checkups and cleanings. Our 4 year old daughter loves Dr. Ellis and Cindy too, she now wants to be a dentist because of them. read more

Sharlene at the front desk has no clue of what she is doing. She did more bad mouthing of her co workers and Dr. Ellis than pay attention to what I was asking. When I asked why I had a bill, she had no idea of where to find out the answer. A dental assistant from the back had more knowledge than she did. I will NOT be going back. Dr. Ellis is awesome!! He removed a wisdom tooth for me and it was quick and relatively painless. I was in and out in 40 minutes and they were very upfront about the out of pocket expense for me, which most dental offices do not do. They were very busy with the holidays, but were able to squeeze me in for a first time visit because the tooth had been bothering me. The whole staff was very friendly and helpful and I will definitely be back, despite the fact that I live all the way in Dallas. read more
