I rarely ever wear my charm bracelet, but every so often I'll get a few charms just because. It's been so long since I've gotten any that I didn't realize that the location has changed. This new location is over on the corner of Post Oak Blvd. and Westheimer Rd. in the Grand Lux shopping center next to Moxies. Every time I'm at James Avery I feel like a kid in a toy store picking toys and not being able to figure out which ones I want. The service is always good here. Holiday season and days like mother's day can get busy. But on regular days the wait isn't that bad. And the turn around time is usually the same day for them to attach your charms. Check them out. Had the best experience here. I went to the Memorial City location first and wanted a charm necklace made for my daughter. The sales person wouldn't even consider what I was inquiring about. I asked to speak with a manager and she informed me that she was the manager. She wouldn't ask the jeweler or anyone else if they could make a gold charm necklace out of a necklace that's not normally used for charms. So I came here. The jeweler was more than happy to assist us and the necklace turned out beautifully! The salesperson was so helpful and assured us it would be beautiful and it was! So happy that this establishment is nothing like the Memorial City location. read more

If this is the location at Dillard's, then this is the worst store. I'm not from Houston, but I do own a bracelet. I was so excited to buy more charms in person. When I got there, the Hispanic dude with the messed-up line-up/man bun was so rude--he didn't acknowledge us for a good 30 min and didn't call for back-up to assist us with charms. My gf had to get another clerk's attention to assist us, and even he was rude. The dude with the bun kept looking over but still didn't help. Once I picked my charms and paid, the guy didn't give me a form to fill out. As I was walking out, the man-bun dude screamed for us to come back and threw a sheet of paper at me to fill out. Once I got the text that my bracelet was done, I looked at my charms and they were attached wrong, which took another 20 min to fix. Ruined my whole experience read more

Meh...Granted, I went in after Christmas to exchange a gift of the wrong size. I dunno, the vibe wasn't Nordstrom friendly or even upbeat really. There weren't enough sales people to show you items. And you have to WRITE DOWN on actual paper with an actual PENCIL styles that you want to look at. They go get them from the back IF they have them. Now for a shopper like me....well...lol, let's just say I like to try on allot to find the perfect whatever. My charm bracelet is now pushing almost 40 charms. James Avery is a Texas icon based in Kerrville, Texas. Their sterling silver and gold designs are classic and timeless. You can find a gift for anyone here, both men and women. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, key chains, charms, and so much more. Although they prices have gone from $12.50 a harm in the 80s to around $50 a charm these day - Im still a sucker to adding more charms and by the way ...you aren't A true Texan if you ya don't own something from this store. As a long time customer, I regret having to offer this one-star review--and wish I had the opportunity to offer a "0" The maltreatment I received this time erases all the good will earned over the years. What a killjoy experience--at almost every level. I intentionally shop local small businesses. This was a simple mistake that could/should have been taking care of in short order. Now and due to the horrible customer support, JA has lost a customer for life. I purchased 2 pairs of earrings for my wife--one gold and one silver, for Christmas. The online purchase process & shipping was simple and without flaw. The problem encountered was simply that both sets of earrings were silver. I contacted customer support to let them know and the representative insisted that "some of their gold looks silver" and attempted to ensure me that I was wrong and had received what I purchased. After taking the item to a JA brick & mortar store so they could see what I was talking about and having the manager (Lisa) confirm they were in fact silver and I was sent the wrong item, I was told that they did not have the item I purchased in stock. Lisa went on to say that they could ship the earrings to me once they were back in stock as a remedy for the matter. Because it was a Christmas present and I wanted to have them for my wife to open on Christmas day, I declined that offer and asked for a return... Long story short, Lisa informed me that I'd have to mail the product back to JA and wait for the refund. When asked why she could not simply do the return at the store since it was their policy, she indicated online purchases did not follow this process. (Please view their website, it is clear and unambiguous as to how these matters are treated) I left the store and called JA HQ and asked to speak with a manager. Tracy (Mgr) confirmed with me that they can and should have taken the return--no questions asked. However, she too, encouraged me to use the return by mail option?? Not understanding why I asked again why can't I simply go back to the store and conduct the return. Her response rambled on about having access to the same CC I used for the purchase to it is hard or confusing, internally, to receive shipped merchandise back to the store to it's easier on us to do it this way... Two hours later and much back and forth on the phone, I returned BOTH pairs of earrings at the store and left soured by the experience--so much so, I will never purchase from JA again. read more

In fact, I get nauseous any time I see someone wearing a "t.u." t-shirt or hat. Sometimes I'll even speak up, comment on that person's poor fashion choice, and flash a "thumbs up/Gig Em sign. I had no idea there was a James Avery in Highland Village. This is awesome because I loath malls - and the Memorial City Mall location is always packed. I came in here on a sunny Saturday afternoon to find 5+ employees working the floor and not that many customers inside (and keep in mind this was Easter weekend. Jame's Avery is always a mad house during any holiday). I had a few ladies help me pick out a religious gift for my sister, they polished it, I paid, and off I went with my gift-wrapped purchase. Went to James Avery located on 290 & off W Tidwell. This is a fairly new location. Had spent over $500 on 2 bracelets. On one, the clasp of the safety chains was on the wrong side of the charm. Went to get it corrected and decide to have that particular charm switch with another. Was charge $10 plus tax. Ok makes sense. After picking it up, I notice the ring for the clasp to catch was above the safety chain. When put on, it flips the last charm. Took it to cuz it need to be below the safety chain in order to hang correctly. I was told by what look like the manager, that's how its suppose to be and if I wanted switch h it would be $5. I get the catalogues in the mail, and I had done some pre-shopping on the website, but I was still concerned I wouldn't find what I was looking for. Be sure to come here and check out the store, as there is a much larger selection here than I could find online. Bad business model there, but whatever. I purchased a small blank gold disc that I wanted to get engraved. Unfortunately the engraving would have taken 2 weeks and I didn't have that kind of time. I've never had bad customer service here or any issues. I have always thought of JAC as being classy and unique. Today when I was walking around inside the store, I noticed a lot of empty spaces where charms used to be, but were no longer. The name of the charm was still in place and so was the price, but the charm was not there. I'm confused as to why the label wasn't removed all together? It's not as if they were updating the spread.....everyone was behind the counters doing other things. Also, there were many labels (for all types of jewelry on display) that were missing letters. I love James Avery jewelry. As a kid, it was a thing to collect charms lol. As an adult, I can spot a piece a mile away. Very distinct and extremely classy. You just cannot go wrong with anything. The one thing about this location that can get annoying is the parking. There is not a lot of it and there are a lot of stores that are popular. I suggest going on off-peak times--if possible! I swear my engagement ring's band is a tad too big, but my fiance insists I'm only going to get bigger. We decided to settle our ring sizes for once and for all, and for our wedding bands, at James Avery. The first thing we noticed when we first walked in was that the place smelled very strongly of something perfumey. So strongly, I really considered leaving. We came in on a weekday afternoon and all of the associates were busy so my nose had a chance to acclimate to the surroundings. I pointed out that my fiance should engrave his ring with "Wherever thou goest, I will follow" because we'll be moving for my job soon. He no likey. A very nice lady Christy finally came over to help us. She pulled out a gigantic ring sizer and then a few samples of the rings we were considering. She was really very patient and friendly as she tried to help us, well, me. He shopped like a man--figured out his size, picked the ring he liked, put it on, and selected that one. I tried on 4 or 5 things, and didn't settle on anything. The staff was very professional, very helpful, not snooty, and the pieces are a good value. They're a regional chain offering rings, bracelets, pendants, necklaces, chains, earrings, and religious jewelry in mostly sterling silver, but 14 kt gold, too, and some platinum. Buy some cheap bands here if you're afraid of losing your wedding band--or buy multiple! read more

Yep, this one's the best. I came in here the other day to buy a new chain because mine broke, and the lady let me know that I should bring in the chain first because it was highly likely that they could just fix it for free (clasp broke). Well, hot dog! Brought it in yesterday and they totally honored that, so I bought a second as back-up in appreciation. I'm a total James Avery addict and own TONS of the stuff, and they always have cute things that are easy to ask my hubby and kid for when they need ideas for Mother's Day, holidays, etc. There are always plenty of people working there (at a time when retailers seem to usually keep as few people on the payroll as possible) and easy to get in and out of. Great chain (ha ha, get it?) and great location. Not a religious person at all, and the place is TOTALLY about the crosses and Jesus fish, but there's still something for everyone (even if I did realize later I was tricked into wearing a cross because the four petal Dogwood pendant symbolizes Jesus on a cross or something, per their catalog). Ah well, I still love the necklace even if the idealogy isn't what I subscribe to. Have always liked James Avery, but this last visit made me reconsider. Purchased a cross for my daughter, identical to mine, about a year ago and had it cleaned a couple of months ago. When I got it back, I didn't really look at it when I gave it back to her. Couple days ago she broke the necklace part and I took it in. Noticed the cross wasn't a polished finish anymore, more of a lightly pitted finish. When brought to their attention, I was told kids are tough on jewelry and maybe she's been chewing on it. Is never seen my daughter chew on it. This pitted finish was uniform front and back, as if it was made that way, and the design grooves weren't like they were before, they were more shallow. I've had mine for nearly 10 years and never had the finish look like that, and I don't get mine cleaned to often. They insisted that kids are hard on jewelry. Was offered an exchange and the first offering was scratched up. I was told that is how the finish is sometimes. Scratched, really? The second exchange looked better and looked like mine and the one I originally purchased for her. If James Avery is trying to swap out jewelry for lesser quality when it's brought in for cleanings and then resale them, that's very disappointing. I hope this isn't the case, but the quality of the pendant that was returned after cleaning and the customer service are just not what I've been accustomed too. read more

When my daughter and I entered the store, we were immediately greeted by a friendly associate. All of the associates were friendly, no complaints. I will be shopping this location from now on. Horrible! They canceled my order and sent me text message to tell me. I ordered my daughters 15th birthday present from JA, they took payment and canceled via text message 5 days later. When I called customer service they said they did not understand my address which is not even possible as I provided both a P.O. Box and street address. They said it could take 72 hours for the money to be back in the bank leaving no time left to reorder!!! I asked why they did not just call me?? She said oh we don't do that. They had my number, they used it to text me the cancellation. The representative did not care. She offered no solutions. My daughters birthday is ruined. A crappy birthday to match the whole year!!! I live in a mountain town with NO stores. It's too late to order something AND now my money is tied up. Shame on you James Avery! read more

Service is great and everyone is always helpful. Careful with the crowds, since this store is in highland village you can always expect it to be crowded on Fridays and Saturdays. This location has a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. My boyfriend bought me a bracelet for Christmas a few years back and has been giving me charms off-and-on for celebrations such as my birthday, anniversary, Christmas, etc. He recently gave me another charm and I came here to get it put on and the staff was welcoming because they greeted every customer that walked in through their doors. The lady helping me was nice and informative about the procedure and how long it would take. She even wrote on my receipt what date and time I would be able to pick up my bracelet because I am extremely forgetful and need constant visual reminders! If I could give them zero I would. Placed an order for my husbands birthday gift today and James Avery's system had a glitch. The order was placed twice, which triggered fraud on my card. I called them and they had no record of the purchases and there was nothing they could do. The charges total $474.10 which, if they didn't go through, I will have to wait 3-5 days to get back. During the COVID-19 crisis they have created even more hardship for me, esp being the first of the month and all my bills are due, and I still don't even have a birthday gift. I'm out $474 and not enough money to cover some outstanding bills, let alone to purchase a 3rd time. They let me know that they would provide me an email stating what was accomplished on our call and that there was nothing they could do to help speed up the process. This way, I could try and give this info to my bank and have charges reversed. I was promised the email within 15min. I gave the supervisor the whole day, no email was received. If I could remember her name, I would put it in the review. I was completely lied to by this company that "pretended" to feel bad for what happened. I'm surprised, for what they portray they are, that they would flat out lie. Shameful. read more

I ordered a necklace and bracelet online. When I got the necklace it was knotted. I emailed Customer Service to let them know the condition it arrived in. I also let them know that I untangled the necklace, they sent me a new necklace that I didn't ask for. Because of that I was left to return the extra necklace. With no fault of my own the Customer Service Dept was very, very rude and said that I sent it back through the wrong mail carrier and would not be reimbursing me for the cost of $16.66. I love their jewelry, however their Customer Service is very rude and unaccomidating and blames their customer's for their mistakes.
