I didn't realize until just recently that James Avery is not a nationwide chain. They have always been a standard place to go for easy, classy, reasonably priced gifts, especially for women. When contemplating a gift for my best friend who is about to be a bride, James Avery was at the top of my list. Then I realized they aren't located outside of the South! Unbelievable! Luckily you can order online. OR if you're in the LBK, you can just trot on down to the store (newly relocated from the mall to 82nd & Quaker) and shop to your heart's desire. February 12 at 7:53pm we walked into the store granted it closed at 8pm however we walked in to do a quick exchange. We were greeted by a lady named Sarah, wonderful by the way she was very helpful and efficient with the exchange. The process was so fast with Sarah my fiancé decided she wanted to get her mom something. Sarah was very helpful with that as well she assisted us with a chain she told us where the book was located and we looked at the different jewelry for her mom. The lady walking the floor came and asked to see if we needed any help. She kept going to each showcase stand that we moved to speaking with an aggressive tone. Again, we understand they were about to close but there were other customers. She kept rushing us and making my fiancé feel uneasy and rushed. When we told her to just give us some time she responded "well we are about to close" as if we didn't know. The fact that we weren't the only customers there but were the only ones being rushed and handled in an unprofessional manner rubbed me the wrong way. We have purchased numerous items of jewelry from this location and have had awesome experiences each time but this experience was the complete opposite of what we hold James Avery's customer service level too. The experience that my fiancé and I had tonight really disappointed me in what I thought was a welcoming environment. Definitely a coaching opportunity for that floor representative that worked the closing shift on February 12th. read more

I've purchased 2 gifts for my girlfriend, a ring and a charm bracelet. This place is the primary place I will go for jewelry. Staff is VERY helpful and nice. I plan on shopping here 100 times more. They send a catalog in the mail every season, which is helpful. I usually get about 3 a year. They also have online shopping, which is a HUGE plus. 5 STARS! read more

I used to shop here often, and have sent lots of money is this store in the past, but I think ill shop elsewhere first next time I buy jewelry. I had purchased a ring for my girlfriend, and mistakenly bought the wrong size. The next day, I rushed home from work at 7pm, grabbed the ring, and headed to return it (i live about 45 miles away). The posted store hours are 10am-8pm. At 15 min till 8, I call to advise them I am returning the ring, so they can have the correct size ready to exchange when I walk in, so I dont keep them after 8. The lady on the phone tells me they have already locked up, ill have to come back tomorrow. I look at my watch, and tell her "its not 8 yet. I live out of town, and just drove 45min to get here. Im literally in the parking lot now". She replies " im sorry, we are closed, you'll have to come back tomorrow. I can set the correct size ring aside for you, and hold it till you return". Disappointed, and with no other choice, I agree. That weekend, I drive all the way back to exchange the ring, only to find out they set aside the wrong ring, and are out of the size I need for the correct ring. Now we have to wait 3-5 business days for the ring to be ordered. This could have all been avoided if they would have stayed open till their posted hours. This lack of customer service has pushed this jewelry store way down on my list. read more

I've never been to a James Avery where the employees were so rude. Right when I walked in, the lady asked if I needed help. I told her I wanted to look around at the charms for a charm bracelet. She was bothered that I didn't know what charm I wanted right away. She stood over my shoulder with a pencil and paper to write which charm I wanted. I told her I needed a few minutes. She pointed at a charm and told me I should just get that one. I've never felt so rushed. I ended up walking out because I was uncomfortable. read more

Went today to pick out a gift for my daughter. I knew exactly which item I wanted and found it. I waited and then -waited some more. I listened to the two employees discuss trips that they had been on. I'm still waiting. The two other employees waited behind the counter - that's a total of four employees and one customer, me. Not one of the four employees could trouble themselves to even offer me assistance. Very sad because I really like their things and I've purchased items at a different location. I did not get to go into the store but my husband took my son in to pick out a Christmas gift while I was in Sprouts. When they got back to the car my husband was amazed at how nice the lady was who helped them and said she made our son feel special as soon as he walked in. He is only 2.5 years old but she went right up to him and talked to him. The gift was from my son to I so that meant a lot the lady made him feel special in picking it out. Let me start off with saying I absolutely love the jewelry here! I have a charm bracelet with currently 13 charms, numerous necklaces, rings and bangles. I will continue to purchase new things here too. I am just not ok with my last visit. I accidentally washed my receipt that was in my back pocket and I knew I needed that to pick up my bracelet when I added the 13th charm. I show up to pick up the bracelet and explain the situation, I have my ID and can describe the bracelet with every charm. The girl informs me that she would let me pick it up this one time, but next time I need the receipt. She then goes to tell me the reason why they need the receipt because in previous situations someone bought something for someone else and when that person came to pick it up they gave them the wrong jewelry. blah blah blah... I do not care if the employees made a mistake. What if I accidentally wash the receipt or lose it next time? She told me to take a picture of the receipt, Really? because I have to time to take pictures of receipts. I have multiple forms of ID and can identify my jewelry. Do no punish customers because the employees have made mistakes in the past. There should be some other protocol when it comes to situations like this. read more

I purchased a charm bracelet about 3yrs ago. Myself & loved ones have been adding to it over the years. A few weeks ago a link broke and a charm fell off. I was shocked; a James Avery bracelet broke. I thought okay I'll just take it in and have them fix it. Well I was told I had 2 options either have it mailed off and pay $25 to get 1 link fixed or they can take half off a new bracelet. Also, on top of that; pay $5 dollars a charm to have them moved to the new bracelet. Once again I was stunned by hearing all this. Not only can the store not fix it there; I was expected to mail off my bracelet for weeks. I was told this "happened" because I wear it all the time. I said "yes I do" that is what a charm bracelet is for to wear so I can look down and smile throughout the day. I do believe the word Craftsman is used to describe James Avery Jewelry. I have never heard of such a thing; don't wear your jewelry all the time. I expect a piece of jewelry to last if I am spending good money on it & I expect to receive a quality product; no matter how much I wear it. If this is the case & normal occurrence with your product there needs to be a disclosure with your jewelry. "Do not wear all the time". The sad thing is I have been wearing a bracelet from Mardel's for 7 years; I paid 10 bucks for it & it still is perfectly fine. Needless to say I did not choose either option. I am so disappointed in the whole deal. I feel lost without my bracelet. Another reason I wear it all the time is because I have an alert tag on it. Honestly if you cannot wear your bracelet all the time then you don't need to sell these alert tags. I am rumbling now; this is why I waited this long to write. By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I came in from out of town and purchased an item in which they had to solder a clasp on a simple bracelet at an additional charge. It was about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. At first they told me they would have to do it the next day and then when I explained I was from out of town they reluctantly agreed to go ahead and do it (even though there no other customers and three sales people in the store ) and said it would be ready that afternoon. I got tied up at the movie and called to let them know I would be there right before closing and was told they couldn't wait for me even though I was one block away. When I told them I was almost there they told me there was nothing they could do since they had just left the doors even though they were still at the store. They then told me they would have to mail it to me the next day. I cannot stand poor customer service. read more
