For days, I had to call and stand outside their business until she finally gave me $200 out of the $300 deposit I gave them ---yes they didn't even refund my entire deposit. I bought a car from Anna at James Auto. When I looked at the car, there was no glovebox installed. I was promised that it would be installed before I purchased the car. 1 week later, when I returned to pick up the car, still no glove box. I was promised that it would arrive with one week, because they had located it in New Hampshire. We are in CT, of course. After 2 weeks, I called to find out the status of the glove box, and, after calling every day for a week, finally got through, to be told that they hadn't found one yet! Now, it is almost 3 months later, and no glove box. I might add, that they sold me an Audi car that was VERY low on transmission fluid... An Audi has a closed system, so I could not check it, but within 1 month, the check engine light came on. When I had it checked, it was determined that the transmission needed a fluid change, and filter change. There were only 5 liters of fluid, instead of 8! One of my relative's was looking for a very specific type of car, that is somewhat hard to come by, since it is no longer being manufactured. I came across a listing online posted by James Auto. After calling and verifying that they still had the car, the woman at the dealership said she would give us first priority since it would be an all cash deal. Most people need to work and James Auto closes at 6pm, as a result we would be arriving very close to closing time. This woman (I will not mention her name) said she would wait for us. Upon arriving the lady was nowhere to be found. She left a guy in the office to call her when we arrived, who knew absolutely nothing about cars...didn't even have a license....because he had just moved here from NYC. Overall that guy was nice but not very helpful. We were not allowed to take the car out on the road because it needed to be "safety checked". Which sounds extremely sketchy. If you are trying to sell a car shouldn't it be inspected immediately, so that potential buyers can take it for a test drive? We were allowed to drive the car around the parking lot. During this time the woman we originally talked to arrived while the car made clunking noises and scraped on the ground. She seemed extremely nervous about the fact that anyone was driving the car. The shifter knob also came off in my relative's hand and the stick inside the shifter boot had duct tape on it. This woman failed to mention or show us anything about the car, the first sentence out of her mouth was do you want to go in the office to talk about it. I found her to be unnecessarily rude and confrontational. The car obviously had issues (clunking, dirty interior) and had been tampered with (lowered, cold air intake). She tried to say that the car came lowered, that's how it was made, but after further inquiry finally admitted that it had been lowered by the previous owner. She also tried to blame my relative for the clunking noises saying that she didn't know how to drive a stick shift, when in reality the car was making that noise at a time when it wasn't being shifted. The car was definitely overpriced for it's condition and the only reason she was willing to negotiate a little was due to the fact that it would be a cash deal. She was saying how it is a popular car and she could sell it very quickly. We didn't stick around to see how much she was willing to come down, since it was obviously a lemon. She was not friendly to begin with and you would think a salesperson trying to sell a car would be as nice as possible, but became irritated at that point. Saying that she held the car all day, obviously expecting that we would purchase the car regardless of it's condition. If it can be sold so quickly, why are you irritated that we aren't buying it? First - Brian the salesman was amazing. He did what he said, and was honest with us. He tried to do everything possible, the problem with this dealership is that Brian is an employee and not the owner. The owner, a Russian sounding by her accent, is a terrible business person!!!! She knew the payment was coming for our vehicle from a local organization which she has worked with in the past. She told us the car would be ready when payment arrived. She lied. She was paid and ONLY then did she take the car to have the necessary repairs. We were also told that there were almost NO cars on the lot ready to be sold!!! They take your money and use it to fix the car while you sit and wait with NO car AFTER you have paid. IF Brian owned this business they would get a four star rating because they sent with a car that had a hole in the radiator, and really if Brian was the owner it would have been checked prior to sale! Terrible go anywhere else but here . I went into a verbal and contractual agreement with Anna for the purchase of 09 Nissan maxima on Jan 28th 2022 . Before going into the contract I explained my situation to the rep and owner and was assured in front of everyone I would have my car no later than Wednesday Feb 4th multiple times because it was ready to go and just needed to be registered .on Tuesday the 3 rd I called to check on the status and to confirm I would be good for pick up on Wednesday . This is when they informed me they couldn't release the car because a tire rod and a few steering issues were found and they need to order parts and that the car will be ready by friday.aginsy my better thought and even though Anna agreed to refund my down payment if the car wasn't ready on the 4th I gave them the benefit of doubt and gave them untill Friday before calling back . On Friday the 6 th I call in to check status and was informed everything is fixed but my car can't be released because it needs new tires .the rude sales rep told me the mechanics where out so I would have to wait . After I got angry he told me he would go get the tires himself at which point he called back and said the tire palace I'm our area closed early so I would have to wait untill tomorrow .annoyed I agree to wait once again untill the next day at which point the weather and an employees family emergency would cause another delay .finally on Sunday the 8th of Feb I drive of the lot with my car but not before entering into a promissory note with the threat of canceling my insurance with the owner Anna for an extra 48 dollar charge that magically appeared and was never mentioned to me the 4 other times they saw me that entire week . 3 days after having the car it breaks down due to battery issues. The battery that was in it was a newer one dated 12/21 I called Anna and she obligated and said they would buy me a new battery .I arrived at the shop after she advised me they said the battery at which point they tell me they ahve to go and get the battery to come back later because they have to plow there lot and clean cars before she can send some to get me one . An out later I'm back and they hand me junk ulyard battery dated 6/18"4 years old"! I argue with her about it at which point she reminds me I owe her 48 dollars " i shouldve paid it in pennies ".I get back to my car out the new battery I and 3 hours later I'm calling aaa once again .finally got the call from the me Janice shop advising me I need to have it towed to a transmission specialist that will work with ky warranty because it a big job .I called Anna and as always they are of no help.i explained to her that im being charge for owning this car an entire month in a few days and havnt driven it more than 3 days total .I asked her if there any way she can out me into another vehicle as our leasing contract specifically states James auto has the option to out me into another vehicle if there are major issues but apparently to them this isn't considered major .these people are shady shady shady .first time ever going into a leasing deal and honestly I don't think I ever will again because of this experience . read more

Bought a 2004 Jeep Liberty and the whole buying process was a complete mess. Took them three days longer then they said to have the vehicle ready for me to pick it up. Finally I had to pick up the car, and the alignment was still not completed. Had the Jeep for 30 days and already had a giant coolant leak with my son in the car. In addition this this mess, the milage advertised was not the mileage that was on my Jeep because the owners were using it, even took it for a trip down to D.C. and back, and never updated the mileage. When I was at the dealership, the owners frequently spoke to eachother in a different language leaving me out of the loop. Do yourself a favor and go to a real car dealership. Gave them my down payment everything they needed. Couldn't pick up my car after a week and half because they only have one mechanic and before they released the car to me it needed to go trough inspection. So they have me a rental smh. Then after 7 months my transmission went! And when I asked for a copy of the warranty the lady couldn't give it to me I had to wait a couple days because it was in "storage" not only did they rip me off they are very rude people. I went to James Auto to buy a used car for my daughter who is a college student. Let me say this VERY clearly - James Auto has SERIOUS ethical issues. The woman who runs the business "Anna" had us waiting for a car for almost four weeks after our loan was approved and she took our money. She kept telling us that it would be ready; then we would call and she wouldn't answer the phone so we would have to drive down. She kept stalling and stalling and each day - there was a different story that contradicted her original story. Then she started with excuses like her printer wasn't working, her fax wasn't working, her phone wasn't work....after four whole weeks, we learned that the car did not pass emissions and she was trying to get it through by toying with the mileage and the engine light. She lied to us continuously. On top of all of the lies and stalling, she was completely RUDE. She would have personal phone calls for 15 minutes at a time, while we sat waiting, trying to pry out of her what was going on with the car. She would hang up on us if we asked a question about the car and we would have to call back, then she wouldn't pick up the phone. She will tell you that she is going to do a "safety check" and fix anything wrong with the car - THIS IS A LIE. In addition, she will rush you through loan paperwork and try to get you to sign to extra, very expensive insurance that you don't need. Go to Rhode Island to Shannon Motors or any other place that sells used cars, but stay away from James Motos unless you want to lose your shirt. I had to threaten her with the police to get my down-payment back. When she knew I was going to report her, she wrote me a check - for the wrong amount and with my name wrong - I had to correct her and make her write it again, then she wanted proof of my down payment with a receipt as if she didn't already know what my down payment was - James Auto is a complete ripp off.
