Friday 8:30am Went in to find a light fixture for my newly remodeled kitchen. It took me 10 minutes to locate the one I wanted. A very nice woman, Letty, was available to help if I needed it without being overbearing. She happily checked to see if the fixture was in stock and the price since it didn't have a visible price tag. Canned lighting was needed next. I received excellent recommendations as the next woman looked at the photos of my kitchen and assisted in determining the number and size of lights needed. Just the cost of the light bulbs for the light fixture selected was $75. I asked Letty if there were any discounts available?! She said, "not that I know of but I can ask." Oh yes, please do! A few minutes later she came back and informed me that I was in luck, the light bulbs were on the house. Woohoo! #lifeisgood My contractor will be installing the fixture next week so I can update this review and add a photo. So happy I walked into Ashjian today! read more

Great service from Jamee. Knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. She helped me with my lighting and fan selections. She has a lot of quality lights to choose from. I really like the tunable LED lights that that you can change the color and temperature from bright cool white to warm white tones. The installation went smoothly with Phil doing the electrical. Let me start by saying "I'm BIG on Customer Service!" I also give my feedback (good or bad). usually to the employee or manager...in Appreciation, or for a chance for the store to improve. So here's what i found: ~They have a great variety of styles, more than other lighting showrooms I have visited. ~ As A great asset, there is a Repair Shop on site. This service is NOT Limited to in-store purchases. This includes Antiques. My Experience: 1. My husband and I were genuinely welcomed when we entered the building. 2. The Warehouse Mgr. introduced himself and made us aware of lighting pieces available, that had been stored over the years. 3. They have a friendly Staff, enough to handle several customers. 4. They didn't hover over us, but remained out front at their desks ready to assist. 5. We received professional and personal service that was attentive to our vision and desire. 6. Having chosen a lighting from the warehouse, it was cleaned up and thoroughly inspected (wiring and sockets), ensuring all functions were sound. They gave great care in its packing for our travel out of town. 7. The completion of our order was prompt, in time for Christmas. My Final Statement: James ASHJIAN Lighting & Home, is Family owned and run; moreover, carrying 60 years of experience. These are Good People...what Honest Business used to be. read more

Large selection of high-end lights of every type. They also carry some ceiling fans and can work on specialty projects like wiring out fixtures, converting old fixtures with new wiring and switches, etc. I once used them to convert a torchere light from halogen to LED and they were very reasonable. They have two large workshops on site. Some of the sales people move way too quick and are seemingly over buzzed out on coffee (??) and too fast chatty.... The one that I was working with seemed rushed and was not listening well. She was not very relaxing to work with. Anyway they're knowledgeable and if you want to look at a lot of stuff in rapid fire succession they can do that with you. There's a lot of really unique product here that you're not gonna find anywhere else. And the scale of some of these products is pretty amazing. Whether you're building a new tower onto your castle to Garrison the Fresno militia or something more modest, there's a lot to look at here. -G read more

Had a new house built so I needed fans; first place I came was here. Super helpful and knowledgeable people. Show room is packed full of options. Knew exactly what I wanted in about 20 minutes, had the fans ordered. Install was quick and painless - the install guys are super professional and top knotch at what they do. Took them 4 hours for removal of my light fixtures and installing 5 fans. Only hiccup was that I had to reschedule a few times, but as I WFH that was no issue for me. Can't recommend this business enough. They're local, trustworthy, and make me wish I needed more fans. Next time I have any needs for lights, fans, etc. this will again be my first and only stop. read more

I purchased small pendant light on brushed nickel rod which they special ordered. I paid $65 per light more for the brushed nickel. Total order was $269 for two lights. I picked up lights one week later got them home and they had given me a large pendant light and the rod and canopies were spray painted silver. I could have bought better lights at WalMart. We worked with James Ashjian and his team to restore a chandelier in our building - the T.W. Patterson Building in downtown Fresno. The chandelier was installed in the building during its original construction in the 1920s, and Ashjian Lighting handled our chandelier with delicacy and care. The chandelier was repolished, its interior parts were replaced, and its original bulbs were exchanged for LED, energy-efficient candle replicas. Three of the original crystal gas shades were lost, and James Ashjian located, and DONATED, 3 perfect replacements for us! I really wanted to like this place. I had a very important project I was working on and I specified that in all of my communications with them. I finally decided on the items and, again, specified my time frames and deadlines. I was assured that there would be no problem.....HAHAHAHA....not only was there a problem meeting my dates, they didn't have my item available for nearly a full month! I checked in with them at least once or twice a week for the first two weeks, and got a different story every time I called. When I finally called and said I was "very unhappy", my item suddenly shipped and was available the very next day. With all of that, the only thing they have to say is "Sorry...". Well, I'm sorry, too.....I will definitely NEVER buy here, again (and I'm just beginning with my lighting projects) and I will definitely never recommend anyone to buy here! Sorry.... read more

They are not very customer service oriented. We are building a new home and looked at a price for a chandelier that was hanging there. We had to touch the tag to find the price and a male worker there started acting angry at us for looking at the price he was taking a deep breath and rolling his eyes at us. He then went up to the chandelier and turned the price tag back around so nobody could see the price! If you don't want us to touch it then leave the price tag visible!!!!!! read more

The ABSOLUTE BEST lighting company in Fresno!! Customer service is outstanding and the team they had to come and install our lights were excellent. We just moved to Fresno and entrusted James Ashjian with our Waterford Chandelier to store until our remodeling was done. A piece of crystal was broken on the chandelier during the move and they found the replacement at 70% less than we could purchase directly from Waterford! It was truly a pleasure working with everyone at James Ashjian Lighting. They are very knowledgeable about anything to do with lighting and have a large showroom displaying a wide variety of lights. I bought a house that was built in the early 1990's. The lighting was yellow an insufficient. Truly depressing to be in beautiful, but poorly lit home. I talked with several people, from friends in the industry to googling for services. Ashjian said they could "likely" upgrade the lighting as I desired without cutting access holes. The did everything the promised, and the owner actually called and asked to see the job his people did. They truly did a better job than they promised to do, and even made changes on the fly as I requested. I would 100% use them for any lighting needs. I'm having non-lighting electrical work done soon, and I am going back to see if they would send the same people over because they were so trustworthy and skilled, they are my first choice to work on my home. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. From the moment we entered the showroom to the completion of installation, our experience was nothing short of exceptional. We were promptly greeted upon entering the showroom and an associate was working with us within a matter of minutes. We took some photos of the 3 areas we were needing a replacement fixture and ceiling fans. Mr. Ashjian and Laura took the time to review our photos and provide us with suggestions that were appropriate for our home. They also listened and provided solutions for changes that we wanted with respect to the on/off switches. On installation day, the 2 installers arrived promptly and introduced themselves and quickly got to work. They were polite, professional and a delight to work with. They took great care in our home making sure that the floors and any nearby furniture were covered. In addition to doing a wonderful job at installing our fans and light fixture, they were happy to discuss future lighting projects with us and providing us with suggestions and guidance for our next project. I could not agree with Susan from Clovis more, the staff (I worked with Laura and Mr. Ashjiian), were exceptional. I was immediately greeted, but not in aggressive manner. Each time I walk in, I feel at home in the store, whether I am browsing or looking for something specific. What surprised me most is that while I came looking for a lighting piece, I left with two chairs and a small table that will go with the lighting. The chairs were so comfortable, my friend, Murray, and I sank in them and we did not want to leave. Laura was extremely knowledgeable and honest about the lighting as well as what would go with what. There is no sales pitch. I also had to return one damaged item and there was no problem. The item is being ordered again, at no charge to me, with no fuss. My multiple experiences have been exceptional. Also, a bonus, parking and getting to the store are easy and up close. No driving around traffic or walking half a parking lot to the store, you park right in front of the store and simply walk in to get greeted by the nicest people.
