Hi guys so let's talk about the Jambox studios "The Blue Room" I have been to the Blue Room and it is amazingly the same room as the mixing room. It is amazing how deceptive a blue light bulb can be. Indeed, Jambox studio is advertised as this grand recording studio, however, it is in fact nothing of the sort. There are just two rooms, one for mixing, and the so-called vocal booth. About the vocal booth: There is an old maple color un-tuned upright piano. There is also a microphone with a very smelly pop shield. In terms of getting your record produced, although Lee Evans claims to have other engineers and a vocal coach working with him, this is simply not so. Jambox Studio is simply a one-man producer.... Lee and he has no visible accolades to show his training as such. I hired Mr. Evans because he advertised that he collaborates with other engineers and even have a vocal coach. To me music a production company with a qualified staff makes the organization seem established. Unfortunately, I experienced jambox studio as nothing of the sort. Lee Evans simply inflates the number of engineers and vocal coach to draw you in. Upon my initial consultation with Lee and Cathy his assistant they make sure to get $500.00 up front. they do this by telling you its 15 percent additional if you were to use your credit card. This is because Lee Evans is not a very goof producer and they want to make sure you have no recourse for a refund. After The initial payment, I was to meet with him 2 days later. Lee had claimed to put my song on his iPhone so he could familiarize himself with it; however, on the day when we were to lay down the first track he was totally unprepared. Furthermore, I was shocked at how amateurish the so-called first rough write was, and I knew then that i had made a terrible mistake in hiring him. I mentioned before that Evans has no other engineers that he collaborates with. Well guess what? He does not collaborate with you the client either. He tells you he likes what he produce whether, you" like it or not. He is un professional in that, he does not communicate with you on a timely basis to let you know how your project is going. He also does not make adjustments as required when critical feedback is given instead he goes for months without communicating. Lee Evans likes to tell you that he likes what he writes regardless of your liking it. Lee Evans simply cannot do classical, blues or pop music. You give him classical and it comes out hip-hop. Also be aware that as a one man producer Lee only uses software programs. In addition, he neither writes nor edits programs, which makes his productions limited in scope. In that, software programs tend to be standard, and one size simply does not fit all. Guys you always want to use a producer that works with a team. It is not usual that one person is good at writing or playing the many instruments that a particular song may require. Not many people can singly write drum, bass, piano, guitar, saxophone, lyrics, riffs etc. As a result a good studio usually have several engineers. So I'm letting you know that Jambox Studio does not have much of what Evans claims it has. I got suckered. I gave him a beautifully written pop song and he gave me a terrible software programmed hip-hop dance song, which he claimed HE likes. Unfortunately, l could not get my money back. You live and learn. So unless you want to get taken, you should try never to engage a one-man production company, unless you are looking for a substandard production. Aside from this it will take upwards of one year to get the no good so called finished product. My mistake was not to ask Evans to introduce me to his engineers and vocal coach and also ask to hear some of the songs he had already written or which artists he had already worked with, and most of all sniff the pop-shield. read more

JAMBOX is seriously a dope recording studio . If you need to get your music career on track and record what you want to succeed this is the place to go . Okay I came in at first to simply get a 1 hour session with my first paycheck to get a glimpse of how the environment here might be like . At first I was a little bit skeptical about visiting a music studio at 7 ave but man I don't regret anything as of now . The studio engineer Tommy really walked me through how to get my mixtape set up and spoke to me as a artist to artist . I highly recommend JAMBOX if you are trying to get your music game up there I think this was one of the best studios I've visited in New York City . Me being a youth growing up here for years and testing waters all over with different places . I felt welcomed here and comfortable the owners lee Evan and Cathy without a doubt gave me a experience to remember . After my 1hr session I decided to book 2 more hours because I was offered a remarkable deal to keep recording . After the whole session finished we had dope hits with dope beats and I'm definitely gonna kick back with JAMBOX to record more stuff . Place your faith in the engineers. They knew exactly what to look out for. Came here to record a song with my band and we had a great time. Cozy studio, great personnel, and came out with great sound quality. We booked extra hours so we could bunk the price down overall but it was worth it. They were willing to work with us and our tight schedule since we could only record later at night. We worked in the studio's "Blue Room" and were treated very well. My guitar playing came out crisp, our singer's vocals were warm and our bassist had some sick subs going. The drummer was on a drum machine, rather than a live kit, but it was no big deal. Overall I was satisfied with the service, the friendly people and our finished product came out great. They also had a program worth looking into called the Gift of Song. I'll definitely be coming back... maybe for the Gift of Song as well. read more

Best studio in NYC hands down! I've recorded there numerous times in the past 5 years, and have always felt comfortable and welcome. On top of the environment being relaxing, their prices are very reasonable and also give out amazing deals from time to time, and the recording quality and programs they offered will bring satisfaction guaranteed. Their service is the final reason they deserve a five star rating, their staff (who for the most part have been with the studio for years, therefore have a lot of experience) is very nice and always want to hear what's new, and have a way that keeps you coming back. I am blown away by the quality Jambox Entertainment produced on my original song, "Details in Check". The microphone choices and equipment available at the studio is amazing and the place was very tidy and neat (which is important to me). The staff was so friendly and had no problem when I called in saying I was late for my session and would be 10 minutes late. The engineer knew what I wanted before I knew what I even wanted done to my track. I recorded vocals, keyboard, guitar, and I had some a cellist come in. Everything went smoothly, I got a copy of my work, and i'm definitely coming back here in the future. I heard the owner Lee does some amazing CD Mastering so I am contemplating doing my EP here and having it all mixed and mastered. Very satisfied! read more

My daughter gave me a "gift of song" groupon for my birthday. I scheduled a time, and a day or two before, Cathy called and explained the process and what to expect. I explained that I wanted to record songs I had written, with vocals and an acoustic guitar, No worries. I got to the studio, met Lee, Cathy and Yair. Wonderful people. Very warm, professional and reassuring. I was treated like family, which put me at ease and I played my songs, 16 of them, without a hitch. Top shelf equipment. An amazing experience. Now I have a CD of my songs that I can torture family and friends with. Seriously; if you're thinking of recording don't think twice about JAMBOX. Just go. Sing, Play, you'll leave with a BIG smile. JAMBOX Entertainment is a not too small and not too big that you feel intimidated. The staff is sooo friendly. Engineers are too, and tend to really know their stuff. JAMBOX is special because they offer many different services. I also love that they're very convenient to get to on Seventh Ave and 30th. There's lot's of high end analog gear here for gearheads, especially in Studio A.They also have different specials on their services. So remember to ask about them. They may not be the optimal classical music studio, like the reviewer said below, bot I think they really ace R&B, Hip-Hop, Dance, and Pop. Another big plus is that they are very kid friendly there. wow! I'm sorry the person who reviewed below did not have a pleasant experience but I had a great time here at Jambox. I have been to a few recording studios in my lifetime (singer/songwriter) and even though Jambox is not the biggest studio, they are hands down the friendliest and very organized. I worked with engineer, Edwin (R.e.a.P.) and he made my project sound like a hit. He is an amazing engineer and very patient. He gave thoughtful criticism and it really helped me. The prices were definitely not too bad, I did 3 hours in Studio A and they were having an October special so I saved some money! Definitely check it out fellow musicians! I love it here!! Its cozy, the staff is friendly!. You get to work with the best of the best! Lee is phenomenal and knows his stuff. With one session I grew extremely confident as an artist. I've been coming to JAMBOX for the past few months to work on my latest rap mixtape and I had to leave a review. This place is amazing. I've been working with the engineer Tornel who's been one of the best I've ever worked with. He's quick to set me to the right levels and he gives me feedback on each take so I know what to tweak to sound better. Ever since I started coming here, people have been listening to my music and complimenting my songs more. The quality's better than ever. Once I finish my mixtape I plan to get it mastered here too. A friend of mine suggested I go to check out Jambox to make my singing and spoken word demos. I walked in expecting to run into a a bunch of egos with kurt and temperamental personalities which I have seen in other venues in this business. I was surprised to be greeted and assisted by well trained and well informed, polite and pleasant engineers. They were surprisingly courteous and patient as I went over my long list of questions. We had an amazing experience with JAMBOX Studios. We recorded a song and a video clip for a family wedding with 3 little kids with us which came out amazing! The service was great from the beginning helping us over the phone to figure out what we wanted to do, the price was right, and even though there was a ridiculous deadline they made it all work - everything was done in 1 day!
