I have worked in every room at Euphoria since the 80's I think. Having moved away from NYC 8 years ago, I had no chance to rehearse there again. But I clearly remember that the best gear, cleanest rooms, nicest staff and best SOUNDING rooms live there. So I was pretty psyched when I was asked to participate in a rather special band hit with some NYC top cats. And of course, they ONLY rehearse at Euphoria...so that is where we found ourselves a few days ago. It was fantastic to see David again; great human...and he knows the deal. Also a drummer and photographer. The walls are lined with his portraits of about every great player in NYC over the last decades. You name it, they work there. And so it was also great to again realize that there is just no other place on the level of this studio. Anywhere in NYC...period. The gear was top of the line - in fact beyond tops...and in perfect shape. I left NYC the following day - and already I am missing having access to this great set of rooms. Go anywhere else and be let down. It is the best of the best. Consistent - and never better. read more

I was very much looking forward to rehearsing my band at this great convenient location that I had heard so much about. Luminaries like John Scofield, Nile Rogers and a host of my favorites use this place. It's clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. So why the bad review? The technician didn't record the session correctly. Gave me back a corrupted 1.7GB file that didn't open on my system, wouldn't play back, etc. I returned the next day to see if perhaps they could salvage the file. No luck. It was such an amateur mistake. I love was told my flash drive was Probably defective. Yet the drive works with other files and on every other system I tried it on. So I have 1.7GB of useless data and an apology. I wonder how they would have handled it had this happened to Chic or any of their other big name clients. A big fat disappointment. No one was expecting a finished recording. Merely what was promised a stereo wav file of the rehearsal. Didn't happen. read more

Being a drummer, it's great to walk into a rehearsal where there's top of the line drums and cymbals in every room, in 'new' condition, the heads changed regularly, and they are tuned as well as any kit you will play anywhere. I love this studio. Ive been here many times and every time the service is always great. The studios have great sound, great equipment, they record for you if you need it and really care about soundchecks and making sure you have everything you need for your session and feel comfortable. If you need something during your session someone is always available to help. They are a studio thats been around for a long time, and based off all the autographs on the walls from local NY musicians and out of towners who are famous, Id guess their rep is pretty amazing. Last but not least, everything is really clean, studios and the bathrooms which makes a difference. :) They also remember you when you are a repeat customer. read more

Euphoria has been my favorite rehearsal space for many years now. Really great bass gear (feels like the studio is geared towards bass players) and well equipped rooms. David is always good for a friendly welcome and chat and the lobby and hallways of Euphoria are covered with his great photos of so many of NYC's finest who have rehearsed there. I told him that Euphoria should have landmark status as a museum of NY music history ;-) I highly recommend Euphoria to anyone looking for the best the city has to offer. As a full time professional musician, I'd like to say that Euphoria is the best studio I've been in New York. The difference between Euphoria and all the other studios in Manhattan is that it gives the musicians all the tools to think about music and art. There's nothing else to worry besides playing and having a good time: the gear is excellent, the place is super clean and always ready to go - when you book the room, they ask you what will be the group instrumentation - so when you arrive there, all the microphones, amps and wires are set and ready to rock. Plus, both the owner and the employees are super polite and available to help with the sound or any other issues at any time. As an artist, I always get inspired at Euphoria, since the combination of organization + cleaningness + perfect gear + happy vibes + the most amazing pictures of famous/killing musicians rehearsing there make me wanna run home and write a new song, or practice a challenging thing, or just feel grateful that I can play music for a living :) read more

I'm a sixteen year old drummer, and I've been in my band for almost 7 months now, and we sound great. Besides our hours of practice put into our songs, it's got to be because of euphoria. At euphoria, the people are fantastic, and they all love any one that works there, and plays there. Euphorias kits are perfectly tuned, and there amps are incredible. I love euphoria so much, and I'll never forget how cool their people are, and how awesome the equipment is. Also, the guy that owns the place, is so freaking nice. Just one thing, don't bring ANY food into the studios, under ANY circumstances!!! You can eat outside, in the lounge, but if you even bring a slice of pizza into the studios, you WILL be in deep shit, and Dave WILL get pissed! That is all. read more

I have spent the past couple weeks interning at Euphoria and have experienced the ins and outs of how the place operates and so I figured I could shed some light on it for anyone who has never been. I could go in depth about their top notch gear, the loyalty of their clients (often big names), or their very reasonable prices, but you can find all that on their website. What's more important to anyone considering Euphoria as a rehearsal space/ somewhere to write music/ or even just jam is the atmosphere. Musicians have told me that playing at Euphoria, specifically inspires the music in their sessions. I can imagine that the history of the place plays a role in that. But furthermore, I think it comes from the staff's ability to get you set up in the room, give you the exact sound you want, and make sure the session runs smoothly, keeping the creativity and focus flowing. read more

The BEST rehearsal space in NYC, bar none. Clean, attractive rooms, great-sounding gear, kickass drum kits, and a nice, friendly staff with absolutely no attitude. Yes, it's pricier than other places but you most definitely get what you pay for. Plus, I'm a lefty drummer. If I call Euphoria before my session & ask them to set up the drums lefty for me, it's always "sure, no problem." NO OTHER REHEARSAL STUDIO IN NYC WILL DO THIS. Not Ultra Sound, not Smash, not Funkadelic, not anywhere. Believe me, I've asked. Euphoria's staff is friendly and efficient (you get your own sound-man to dial up the perfect mix for your band!), and their selection of gear is first rate. I've been going to euphoria for at least 15 years. The place is clean and well outfitted and I always get great help from the staff. It's expensive compared to some, but there is a reason why so many of the top NYC (and around the world) musicians end up rehearsing there; it's a very pro environment. Horrible! Euphoria Studios (a.k.a. Euphoria Productions) denied my rescheduling request given with 50 hours advance notice (they need 72, I was told) after a key band member had a family emergency. Resigned to using the original time block as best we could, I called the evening before to ask whether they might at least compromise by letting me use only two of the hours I had reserved rather than charging me for all three. In leading up to asking this, I explained about the prior refusal of my rescheduling request. Before I could get any further, the studio representative surprised me by saying they WOULD allow us to reschedule for the following week. Great! I thanked him profusely for reversing the earlier turndown. But then he called back at half past midnight, hours after band members had been notified that they were free to make other plans for the following day, and said he'd been mistaken about their policy and that they WOULDN'T reschedule or refund my 50% deposit. I vigorously protested that everyone had already been notified to make other arrangements, but to no avail. When I pointed that while such shabby treatment of their clientele might gain them a few bucks in the short run in forfeited deposits, it was hardly going to encourage repeat business, he said "WE'RE NOT REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT REPEAT BUSINESS--we have plenty of bookings." He quickly lost patience with my protests and snapped, "Look, do you want the time or not?" I got as far as saying, "Well, umm..." when he snarled, "You're cancelled" and hung up on me. I have not seen their facilities. Perhaps they are fine. But I certainly would not recommend having anything to do with a studio whose staff treats their customers like this. read more

In the interest of full disclosure let me say I'm a former employee of the place. Yet mind the word former. That said, with insider knowledge of this operation, and complete honesty, this is hands down the best rehearsal spot in NYC -if not the world. If you're looking to bang on some chords on the cheap this is probably not your spot. But if you've real work to do, or even just a hobbyists who still gives a shit about what they sound like, then there's no place you'd rather be. Great gear in great condition, great staff (I should know), and a great community built around the place -which I sorely miss, and I assure you, you want to be a part of. In my tenure here I've had the good fortune to meet many masters of their respective crafts and I'll carry the knowledge of this experience for a long time to come, but all sentimentality aside, a business that's been around for 20 years and has probably a 90% rate of recidivism has to be doing something right. Go find out what that is. P.S.- I suggest you plan ahead or expect to be turned away. Only 4 rooms and a sterling reputation means it books up fast! read more

I've had a fantastic experience with Euphoria Studios- they are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I'm part of a company band with very limited time. The equipment is top-notch, with great quality drum sets, amps, sound board, and cords. My favorite thing about Euphoria is how convenient they make the process- when you enter everything is set up and ready to go- and the technicians are always ready to help with sound equipment. Note this is a rehearsal studio not a recording studio, so it's been optimized as a space to practice rather than record. As a result there are less recording capabilities (multi-track recording, sound engineers, etc). However, for a rehearsal space this has worked perfectly for us. read more

I have to go ahead and give 5 stars because I really don't know what else I would want from a rehearsal place and the next best rehearsal place in town would only be 3 stars. I have rehearsed in every rehearsal space in NYC and Brooklyn and while some places are doable most of them are just gonna get you through the session. Here's this for an idea, have your gear work or get it fixed. I have never seen anyone plug into and amp at Euphoria and have it not work. I have also had the opportunity to be in a rehearsal where an amp went down and boom, wheeled it right out into the shop. Drums are very well maintained and serviced and the cymbals are professional level and never broken. This place might not be best for the hobbiest unless you are going for a professional experience in a professional environment where the staff respects you as a client and when you ask for something they help you without making you feel as if they are doing you a favor. If you are looking for that dirty cbgbs rockin roll poop hole where it smells like sweat, piss and beer, nothing works, and you can't ear the vocals, this isnt your spot. read more
