I didn't get to browse the grocery section, you order in the main area and you pick up the food when it's ready in the back area where their kitchen is. Seating is mostly outside but there are 2 4top tables inside so we sat inside by the corner. I got a latte and an avocado egg sandwich. They have a lot of sandwiches available as well as options by the counter if you want pick up some pastries or food to go. I had my egg over easy and it was very good with the bread and avocado. The sandwich is filling that I only ate half and saved the other half for later. I also loved the side salad that comes with it. Nice area, lots of parking on a weekday morning, they also have other restaurants in the same lot. They also have charging stations in the lot.

It's good for when you need 1 or 2 recipe items and don't feel like driving down to the valley on either side of the hill. Prices are obviously going to be on the higher end given the location. Staff are always friendly and helpful. It's in a strip mall with other small eateries, so the parking lot gets filled quickly. There's plenty of street parking though. The cafe serves up traditional coffee drinks as well as a few specialties. They also have some pastries, which are good, but nothing out of the world. They do have a few seating inside and outside, but it is limited. 1. Chagachino (3.5/5) This is basically a coffee-alternative, though you can request for a shot of espresso be added. It consists of chaga mushroom powder, cacao, and cinnamon. I got it with coconut milk to give it creaminess, which it did, but overall, I felt the drink to be a bit too sweet for my liking. 2. Jalapeño Cheese Scone (4/5) I like the flavor of the Jalapeño, but the scone was a bit too dry and crumbly. The cheese was also lacking, but it could be because it was served cold. I wish they gave the option to heat it up so that the cheese would be melty and add a bit a moisture.

When we arrived, the security guided us to complimentary limited time parking, which was great because we only stopped in for smoothies. This location was packed! We looked around for a second and then went to order smoothies. We waited about 10 minutes for them to be prepared. While we did enjoy them, $20+ isn't something we'd like to spend on smoothies often. Nice to experience though. Smoothies: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 2/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Location: 4/5

It is a bit surreal being in a grocery store where the mean/median/mode price of something is 10x what it'd be at a normal shop. There's a parking garage right next to this location, but there was also a good amount of street parking nearby. Staff was very friendly! I got an 8 oz. jar of the Summit Trail Mix, which I really liked! It's not too salty and the dried fruits complimented the almonds so well. Enjoyed it so much that I kinda wish I opted for the bigger jar. Also, on top of the already steep price, there's a $3 bottle deposit. Since it was my first time here, the cashier let me know that you can get your deposit back if you bring the bottles/jars back to the store. After making my trail mix purchase, I got the strawberry glaze smoothie. My smoothie was ready pretty quickly. I'm not a big strawberry-flavor lover, but I really enjoyed this smoothie. It was the perfect refreshing drink for hot weather and walking around. I also felt very fitting and pretentious taking sips of my smoothie while strolling around Melrose. I definitely have to go back next time I'm in LA.. to get my bottle deposit back of course..

It's usually been an older crowd that's wanted whatever health products were popular 10-20 years ago. At one point during the late 90's and early 00's, it was tremendously popular with the celebrity class of LA, and it was Erewhon before there was Erewhon. It has since drifted into a more relaxed, slightly frumpier incarnation now in 2026. As you can see from all the 1 and 5 star reviews, it's a place that inspires both stubborn loyalty and intense frustration in equal measure, and I think that about sums up experience for the uninitiated. You'll see that I've split the difference with this 3 star review in an attempt to capture reality. This is far from a perfect grocery store -- the prices are high, a lot of the produce is not looking so good, the milk is always about to expire, the aisles are poorly organized, they're missing lots of things you want. But it's also a real co-op and not a chain, it's possible to eat healthfully from here, and they are extremely responsive to their member's (numerously and frequently delusional and extremely SaMo) requests. The angry reviews about bad service here are overblown; I've been here dozens of times and never had a problem. And as long as it's member-owned, it can always change for the better very quickly, which I've seen happen here before, and may happen again. Personally, my reason for not shopping here is just the poor organization of the store overall, selection of dry goods which are widely second-rate to me, and shabby, soon-to-be-expiring produce and perishables attached to a luxury price. I see no reason to shop here when I have the SaMo farmer's market AND better organized specialty stores like Erehwon or McCall's right near by -- which are, despite what numerous reviews here desperately proclaim, the exact same price point as Co-Opportunity. I hope this clears up why the reviews here are all-over-the-place, it's because the store is too!

I absolutely love…read moreexploring grocery stores; each and every one is unique, has different deals, a different aesthetic, and select food. I like to walk around in them for fun all the time. So... take my review seriously!!! I tried almost all their food and can give a detailed rundown on each one. They have amazing, amazing, amazing food made with love here and employees that are incredibly kind and funny. They're welcoming and you can tell they really enjoy working at Rainbow Acres and want to spread good vibes. Their food is made in house, from scratch, exactly what it is. No food dyes or processing. Just fresh, straightforward food for a good price. RAINBOW ACRES MADE ME SHED A TEAR. I was so incredibly ecstatic to find an healthy, grocery CO-OP near me. The smoothies are great, they sometimes have samples. They're all delicious and they also can be paid with EBT. Their guac and chips was actually the best I've ever had from a grocery store. The guacamole had enough salt and lime, like... whole foods and chipotle guac was PUT TO SHAME. Well-seasoned, super chunky, cilantro, red onion, tomato, mmm, and those chips were actually fresh tortilla chips. So crunchy and light. So yum. God. Their sandwich was insane. Slices and heaps of chicken breast for double the price of a sprouts sandwich and quadruple times more tasty. Don't second guess it, just get it!!! BBQ chicken and ranch salad was insane. I ate it in like 10 mins and my stomach was bulging. When you see it, it will be irresistible. The grilled chicken is marinated and covered in a sweet bbq sauce and their housemade ranch is seasoned deeply, comparable to wingstop's ranch. Crunchy lil tortilla chips and crunchy salad with some roasted corn. Every single thing in that plate had its own flavor, unlike the prepackaged slop at other stores. However, it was close to $20... The fruit tart was FRESH and yummy, a tad sweet, but all the fruit was incredibly quality. The crust left a little to be desired, but great nonetheless. Their hot deli food is great too. We got a parm crusted chicken breast and it was very juicy and flavorful. The samples were great, even their curry is packed with flavor. Their turkey chili was insanely hearty and delicious, thankfully not too salty. chili mango is the best my boyfriend claims he's ever had. immense selection of unique canned and bottled drinks. They make their own green smoothies and juices in glass bottles, but there's also local branded magnesium teas, adaptogens, sparkling waters, etc. LOTS AND LOTS of vegan options. Great selection of teas and medicinal herbs and pure oils meant for the skin. I picked up some grapeseed oil and snacks. Some of the prices here are cheaper than whole foods, but some are more expensive. I really love Rainbow Acres, but some of their prices can be expensive. However, when factoring in the quality, freshness, and how the food is SIMPLE AND CLEAN AND HOPEFULLY AS ETHICAL AS IT CAN BE, it justifies the prices. The employees are always helpful, so it does help to imagine that the higher prices go to them as well. I'm really happy that this place exists. It's not pretentious and makes clean eating accessible for anyone.

It's been part of my routine, and I've always trusted the quality. Unfortunately, my last visit completely changed that. I found a dead fly in my salad, which was honestly so disgusting and upsetting. It's hard to overlook something like that, especially from a place I come to so often and rely on. What made the experience even more frustrating is that I reached out through the online contact/question form and never heard back from anyone. A response or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Because of this experience, I don't feel comfortable coming back. It's really disappointing, but finding something like that in my food is something I just can't get past.
