    Chicken meat patty
    Alana T.

I appreciate me being able to call and let this establishment know how long it would take me to get there so my food would be ready. It was ready as soon as I walked through the door. It is a small quiet place where one could enjoy lunch, but not big enough to accommodate large parties. A couple of things I really enjoyed about their food was the meat patty and the tender chicken. I was disappointed in the Mac and cheese, the plantains (menu said 4 come in an order, I only received 2), and the rice and beans were just okay. I love Jamaican food, but this wasn't my favorite. I would give them a try again, but I would have to be blown away the next time.

Nextdoor to the Guatemalan bakery is this Jamaican restaurant . You can get your dinner at the Jamaican restaurant and dessert at the bakery . I have been here many times in my travels to Indianapolis over the past year . Depending on who is cooking you will either get good Jamaican or great Jamaican food . The jerk chicken is pretty solid all the time , rice and peas is where you sometimes see a difference . Cabbage is alway some of the best but the plantains are always the best .

Consistently amazing flavor, service, and price point! I have never eaten inside but I do like that you HAVE TO come inside to place/pick up orders - the cashier is appropriately located to where you can see straight into the kitchen! They are clean! I've been back more times than I can count lol

Oxtail with Rice and Beans and cabbage

Tried this place today for the first time based on a recommendation...idk why but I was craving something very hearty today and I got it with a large oxtail meal. The meat fell off the bone and the gravy was so good and rich in color. I was disappointed to see they didn't have mac & cheese on the menu (Jamaican mac & cheese be so good) the meals also automatically came with two sides cabbage with plantain on top and rice and beans...the cabbage was very bland which was surprising because I always get good cabbage from Caribbean establishments. Loved the plantain and rice and beans. All the chairs are turned up on the table as if they don't want you to dine in, but I was getting my food to-go to begin with. The employees were rude lol, but if they aren't serving with an attitude the food probably isn't really good IYKYK!! Definitely coming back to try the jerk chicken!

Once again this just does not disappoint. The food here is just amazing. The flavor and texture is fantastic. I keep wanting to try other dishes but the ribs are so off the chart it's hard to stray. I have had the chicken before and it was good too. Next time I'm getting some goat for sure.

Hole-in-the-wall but FULL of FLAVOR!!!! Visited for the first time on 04/15 for take out and it was delicious!!!!! Thanks Yelp for helping me find a great place with Jamaican food! For take out they only needed a 10 minute heads up for carryout (I was 55 minutes away). So called back I 10 minutes before needing to pick up and had very little wait. Friendly staff and good service. I will totally make the drive from Lafayette for this again!! This was my first time trying this cuisine and what I ordered did NOT disappoint!

    Beef patty

Oh man this place was amazing. The beef patty was so full of beef. The curry goat was the best I've had and the oxtail was so plentiful. I do wish I lived nearby bc I would get this all the time.

Jerk chicken combo with oxtail, rice and beans, cabbage and plantain.
    Jessica H.

Good food. Meat is always on point with the flavors especially that curry chicken and oxtail OMG! Beans and rice and cabbage is cool just needs a little more seasoning but no worries I put my oxtail gravy over it and baybayyyyy it was fire. The only complaint I have with the good is they give you more than enough jerk chicken but very small portions of the oxtail and curry. I got 3 oxtails in my meal. This was my mom's first time having jamaican cuisine and she loved her curry chicken and she's very picky with her food lol. Service was good as always. They are very polite and patient and helped my mom make a decision by suggesting their favorites. The ambiance is casual and intimate. Small and quaint with nice jamaican beats. 8 out of 10

What an amazing atmosphere and the food was great. I had the jerk chicken. The chicken was cooked just right. Season was on point. I'm from south Florida's. This cook has it. Check it out. You want be disappointed. Coach John

    Quarter dark combo
    PJ S.

Slow cooked meat with all the fixins ! This is a very welcomed addition to the Northwest side. Its tucked away in a low rent plaza - but word of mouth has gotten out. They have a pretty steady crowd. I got the quarter-dark chicken combo. That dark meat sucked up the marinade nicely and the accompaniments were delicious: plantains, cabbage, rice and beans. One small complaint - if you're going to serve spicy food you need to be generous with the napkins. My nose got running and they only give you one napkin! Oh boy, thats trouble! But all in all its pretty awesome. I think I found a new regular lunch spot.

I walked through the door dancing! The music is so great I just wanted to stand up and dance while I ate my food. The food is very flavorful. My group tried: Beef Patty - delicious! Jerk Ribs - very flavorful. I would definitely eat them again. Jerk Chicken - very tender and delicious. Rice and Beans - excellent with the hot sauce on the tables. Cabbage - good stuff Plantains - I only like them crunchy, but my friends said they were great! French Fries - crispy and good. Hot Sauce - not my jam. I was expecting something different and I didn't care for the flavor profile. Service was excellent. They had tons of people coming in for carry-out. This place is clearly beloved :).

Maaaaaaan, it was so good I went two days in a row on some "I work too hard not to treat myself"…read moretype time. Here's the real: While this places price point is below the amount of food you get- everyone knows in today's climate, eating out isn't financially responsible on a whim. Ok; now to the food. Why haven't I tried this before now? I ultimately went because I attended a Yelp elite event around the corner at a coffee shop & I was starving for something savory yet not something that is already in my monthly rotation. I saw the larger than life sign as I drove down the street and pulled over. I checked their menu online first to see if they were open & what their price point was. All checked out. On the first day, I ordered the chicken curry meal for $14.95 plus I added two beef Pattie's & one curry shrimp pattie. I was blown away by the flavor in the curry chicken, the veggies were cooked perfectly & the flavor was on point. The rice & cabbage were also great (I wish I got a little more cabbage tho lol but that's just me being greedy) The second day - I brought my man. He ordered what I had on the first day and I ordered the jerk chicken + rice/beans & cabbage. WOWZERS! I noticed on the ordering site you can order whole jerk turkeys & chickens for special occasions as well as catering sized sides. I'm 100% plotting on my next visit. My tummy and tastebuds were so pleased! Thank you YASO!

However, today I decided to switch it up and ordered the Red Snapper Filet prepared with Brown Stew, and it was equally fantastic! The fish filet was incredibly tender and flaky, and the brown stew sauce was rich, complex, savory, and had just the right balance of sweet and spice. It hugged the filet and the classic sides (rice and peas, and steamed cabbage) beautifully. It was truly a comforting, soul-satisfying meal. The service is consistently quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Whether you are a fan of the Escovitch or the deep, savory flavor of Brown Stew, Yaso executes both perfectly. Highly recommend stopping by for authentic Jamaican cuisine!

I finally made it back today around 8:45 p.m. I knew the restaurant closed at 10 p.m., so I made sure not to come at the last minute. I ordered and paid for my food at 9:06 p.m. My concern is that I was told my order would be ready in about 10-30 minutes, but I did not receive my food until 10:06 p.m. I remained patient and respectful the entire time, but there was no apology for the delay. Then, after getting home, I found the food once again overly salty to the point that it was difficult to enjoy. For the price paid, I expected better quality and customer service. I truly want to support Black-owned businesses, which is why I came back and gave the restaurant another opportunity. However, consistency, professionalism, and consideration for customers should remain the standard for everyone at all times. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, because there is definitely room for improvement in both service and food preparation.

For our meals, we ordered the chicken entree, pork entree and the turkey entree. Each entree came with a number of side items on the plate. I was amazed at how much food and how many items we received for the price we paid. The server was very friendly and attentive although we did have to chase her down for the bill which wasn't really a problem. Plan on having cash to tip because once she ran my card, she said she didn't have a way to add tip to the bill or the credit card slip. There is a lot of parking available in the lot that it shares with the other business in the strip mall that it is located. They have a decent sized dining area, that almost looks like a banquet hall. There is a roped of VIP area, a non-alcoholic bar with seating, a vip room and a stage where they host live music. It looks like it would be a hoping place on weekends. You will also find an ATM here as well as a few televisions around the bar area. There is a patio area in the front of the restaurant, but it was closed and had tables stacked on top of each other when I was there. I decided to dine in, which was kind of awkward. I was never seated. I just found a table after standing there for about 5 minutes. The table was not very stable and rocked throughout my meal. Normally, the server brings a glass of water out to the patrons too, but that was not the case here. I had to even track down the server to take my order. The staff there is friendly enough, but as I have mentioned, they are very hard to communicate with. They offer a limited menu that rotates based on the day of week. This is an authentic restaurant. I mean authentic, authentic. communicating with them was very difficult. They did not understand a word I said and vice versa. Somehow I was able to place my order, even though it took a while. I went with the fried goat, which came with french fries, plantains and slaw. I ended up having to point out the drink I wanted in the cooler behind the bar. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and it looked delicious. I will be honest though, it was not very good. The plantains tasted like cardboard, the fries were a bit off too. The goat was good, but it and the rest of the food was luke warm at best. It was like it was already prepared and just put on the platter. I ended up throwing my plantains away and I do not like to waste food, but I just could not eat them. I really really had high hopes for this place, but it did not deliver. The food just did not do it for me. The communication issue affected the service and the prices were a bit steep. my meal and drink ran me about $25. I hope that my visit was an off day for the restaurant, but I will probably not be coming back anytime soon.

That one was the middle heat sauce. It had just enough kick to it. The wings were good. Very flavorful and tasty. Some of them were luke warm at best through and could have been heated up a little more. I still really liked them though. The jambalaya is not your normal New Orleans jambalaya. It has a Caribbean flare to it. It is also tasty and has a bit of a kick to it, like most Caribbean food does. The egg roll was ok. It was huge and packed, but I did not think it tasted very special. It was just average to me. Maybe I had such high hopes, but it was definitely lacking the flavor of the other food that I ate. The guy that was working was friendly enough.
