Jollof Rice
Jessica L.

Now I am open to everything - I am enjoying the spicy goat and jollof but the price compared to what I ordered - a crime! You can't even get a cup of water, you have to buy a bottle. I paid $20 for a to go container of rice and a palm full of goat - not to mention I paid $10 to get in. It's Saturday, midnight and it's pretty empty. The bartenders are super friendly and on top of things but it's a disappointment for this place to be this empty and..boring - the songs are hit or miss, more folks are sitting around instead of dancing to the music. Update: my friend got me to stay, it's 1am and it's getting pretty busy!

Ok so this was my first experience here and our server who's name I forget was so lovely. She had great recommendations and was so friendly. She asked what we liked and took it from there. I ordered a morsel meal Egusi, with pounded yam and sobolo... oh words can't describe how happy I am to have tried this place. My sister tried the chicken and collard meal and my niece chicken and jollof Everyone was happy and we enjoyed our meal as it wasn't alot of people it was a very relaxed atmosphere and welcoming to us all. I will be back!! We all ate dinner for $50.

Meat pie

African food is how it is listed. In fact, this is Nigerian food. There are many countries in Africa and loads of different cuisines on this continent. Not knowing much about this particular cooking style, let me highlight the things I have learned during my visit: 1. Silverware is not used with every dish, this is a hands on experience. You will get a bowl with water and a whole basket full of sturdy napkins to aid you in cleaning you utensils = your fingers. (They do have forks if you want to admit defeat) 2. The chicken. If you order anything with chicken please be aware that the meat is from hens.. old hens... that stuff, while tasty, is extremely tough. It almost has the consistency of jerky. 3. The rice dishes are a good entry point, if you are as clueless about the cuisine as I am. The fried rice being fairly mild and the Jollof rice packing a bit of heat. 4. No alcohol here, but various bottled soft drinks and water. That said, the service is very friendly and folks explain the various dishes to you. Everybody at the table really enjoyed the meat pie. That is a must try. It's listed under appetizer and has a nice savory filling of meat and I think there are little potatoes in it too, or something similar. It looks similar to an empanada, but the crust is really light and delicious. A new favorite of mine. I had the rice with Jollof and fried rice. Both rice dishes were excellent, described above. The chicken a surprise to me, I was not prepared for the consistency of the meat. The sauce packed a punch but so nicely flavored. I even asked for more of it. FYI: We were told that they will be moving from the current location to one at Pike Plaza.

A serving of jollof rice, add chicken and added goat. The plantain is an extra serving too. Did not receive even 1/4 of a plantain.

The Jollof rice was good but the small piece of chicken I got was inedible, it must have been held forever, it was so dry I couldn't pull the meat off the bone. The extra chicken was a piece of rib with almost no sauce. Didn't taste it as I could not pull meat off of the bone. I may try this again a bit earlier in the day when they have more choices available. Will eat inside where I can refuse it if it's as bad as today's. Way too expensive

Visited this establishment for the very first time last week with the International Marketplace Coalition. The food was very Good! I had the tilapia with jollof ricen, plantain and greens. Everything was delicious! If I had to choose a favorite part of the meal, it would be the greens. When paying my bill one of the staff members suggested that I try the greens with pounded yam on my next visit. I also want to try a meat pie.

Egusi with iyan
Adenike A.

I have been to this restaurant a few times. There isn't anything particularly different about this visit. They serve Nigerian food and generally have a lot of patrons picking up take-out orders. I usually eat in though. Today, I got the egusi stew with iyan. It was delicious as usual. Egusi is ground watermelon seed. The stew has a tomato base and some Type of leafy green vegetables in it. Iyan is pounded yam. It's a like dense mashed potatoes. Their egusi stew is really good. I had it with assorted meat; goat and tripe. This place will satisfy anyone looking for a quick Nigerian meal for a reasonable price.

Great Nigerian food. The prices were great and the staff were nice. We had Egusi soup with beef and it didn't disappoint.

Very nice to eat with family. All food are authentic and fresh. Customer friendly environment.

The period atmosphere and ambience is absolutely intoxicating. This is a perfect starting place for pre-dinner cocktails, leading up to a fine dining experience at Saint Elmo's Steakhouse. The service was superb, friendly with plenty of recommendations on what to try. This venue gets my highest recommendation, and I very much look forward to a return visit, and hopefully to introduce some of my closest friends to this incredible experience.

I paid the $8 to upgrade the mac to lobster mac...so delicious & so worth it (the upgrade was so unnecessary but so necessary, iykyk!). I also love that they allow you to mix & match on the sliders (filet, fried shrimp, or wagyu beef with Brie). I went with 1 filet and 1 wagyu beef, which was also perfect! Would love to try the fried shrimp at some point. The accompanying aiolis perfectly complemented the sliders! I completed my meal with a lemon drop martini. Service was friendly & attentive. Will definitely keep this spot in mind the next time I return to Indy & would highly recommend to others. In fact, I found it superior to my experience @ Harry & Izzy's--much more my vibe!

This was super convenient because they wouldn't sit us until the whole party was there. They gave us a buzzer, but not really sure if it was really activated or what. I think we could have tried to wait inside, but it was busy and crowded so my truck was a better option since it was too cold to wait outside. When the whole party was there, we finally got a both table in the back which was like the covered patio area but they had warmer flames so it was nice and heated. These were adjustable, and some in our party took advantage of that as it got too hot. We ordered hooka and the lady brought it to the table and she didn't even start it. Hooka was $31 and you get to choose a flavor, we had tropical punch and it was good. We got fries to go with our drinks and they were decent. The drink I got was the casamigos lemonade in peach flavor and it was good. I don't feel like the drink was very strong though and it was $14. My husband got the strawberry casamigos lemonade and he said it was good too. They had a DJ in the back and a DJ in the front, they played different music. 2 restrooms are located near the entrance, which can be a hassle when it's busy. We noticed after we got home that they charged our card twice for our order, so I'd make sure to check that out.

We took an uber to not have to worry about parking but there seemed to be a few spots on the street if yku are lucky enough to get one. If not I guess you would park in the garage maybe. Walking in it's very cute, with lots of pink, flowers, greenery, nice spot for selfies. When we walked in a lady asked our name and took us to our table right away. My friends bought buffet tickets for noon and we arrived right at noon so I'm glad our table was ready. It's very quaint I would say no more than 18 tables maybe. I didn't like that two of us had to face the wall and the other two faced the rest of the restaurant. It's super tight seating so not sure how you could fix that other than get round tables instead of square. Here is where the less than 5 stars comes. Our tickets were for a noon brunch the Buffet was not ready until almost 1pm. That means we were literally sitting for almost an hour with no food. We did have mimosas which was nice and our server who was great made sure they were constantly full. But like no food for all that time is insane to me. Then when the buffet food was ready, they allowed people to go up table by table and someone even though we were there pretty early in the time segment our table went up last which meant we didn't eat until after 1pm. There was one person serving you in the buffet line and she gave you minimal food on these very tiny side plates which I'm sure is by design so you can't load your plate up. So I got one tiny piece of fish, one slice of bacon, one tiny chicken wing, like 6 green beans. Like just barely food. There was a gentlemen making made to order omelets but of course since it was just him you had to order and they bring it to you but by the time we got it we were basically done eating so it was a waste. The entire process felt very elementary, and they have a lot of room to grow and improve and grow this business. They have the potential to really take this far but they will need to invest into some to get it right. Would I come back, maybe in a few months for drinks and music not for the food though, it wasn't worth the money.

Went tonight after a production at the Booth Tarkington and was really looking forward to relaxing…read morewith an apertif in a cozy setting. We went for a 3:00 show on a Sunday such that by the time we got out, it was 6:00-still early. It was in the 30's outside and already dark (thanks DLS time). Yet as we reached the top of the stairs to the lobby I was immediately disappointed that there was no fire lit in the fireplace. There were only three parties in the place. One was around the corner in the adjoining sitting area and may or may not have been drinking. There were two couples at the bar, where we considered also sitting. But the only empty spot for two had two dirty drink glasses from a previous patron still sitting. So we opted for the leather couch and chair in the main area just across from the bar. And that's where we waited, and waited, for almost 30 minutes, before giving up on getting served (or acknowledged). There was only one bartender, so we were fine with going up to order but communication would have been helpful. We stood at the bar while she chatted with the two couples, who'd all been served. We couldn't really figure out what she was doing as she seemed busy-ish yet wasn't serving, or clearing, or washing, and we were chatting between ourselves and didn't really give it much thought. Then she said she was out of something and was leaving the bar to go fetch it. We asked her to let us know when she was ready to serve us, and we took our seats to resume our conversation. The bartender returned after a while, and she served one of the original couples ... for another 10 minutes at least. Again we were talking so, while an irritation, it was in the background. About 50 minutes into our visit, she came over and took our drink order. This was my third or fourth visit, and I'd ordered my drink, an old fashioned, before and knew what to expect: bourbon of choice, Luxardo cherry, and a dehydrated orange slice. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. Now mind you, my friend ordered a glass of wine. Nothing time consuming about that. She noted that her pour was smaller than the other times she'd been there. Mine came with the whisky cube already on its way to melted, a broken (a.k.a. piece of) cherry and a twist. What? Where's my glorious little crunchy orange wheel of goodness? I had spied them on the bar earlier. No soup for me! Also, and I can't be sure 100% sure of this, but I tasted neither bitters nor syrup. Was this really just a bourbon rocks? It took a minute but we realized this gal cannot tend and talk at the same time. My friend commented that she had no idea what will happen when the place gets busy, as it has been every other time I've been there. We left after 8:00, after one drink, and for me, $21 lighter. Yeah, it's pricey. And the Carmichael crowd is a discriminating one. So we expected better. Much, much better.
