I don't know that stylists get enough credit for being on their feet and using their hands all day while having to maintain a sunny disposition (despite whatever they may have to manage in their personal life and/or the myriad of oddities they likely have to endure at the hands of clients).... the salon here certainly deserves that acknowledgment. My visit to Tonic was a truly refreshing break from the hectic realities of life to thanks to their upbeat, welcoming environment with a very genuine and engaging stylist (who heard exactly what I wanted and delivered it!). It is clear that Allison seems takes great pride in her work and emulates a strong confidence in her approach (seems well deserved!). Equally skilled and engaging, Allison was a true pleasure to spend time with and be styled by. I hope the very best for her in the year ahead. Another facet of this visit that stood out to me was the very clear affinity the stylists seem to have for one another with frequent shared laughs and dialogue. I also went to Toronto and NYC several times for haircuts (tried HK and Japanese salons) but Dianne is by far the best! I have natural wavy hair but wave in a not-so-good way. My hair is thick and heavy which makes it very hard to style and to look good. All the stylists I met in the past suggested me to straighten it (which I don't want to cause it's costly and may look fake) but Dianne was the only one that didn't ask me to do so. She follows the hair flow when styling it and the end results just looked great every time. I also challenged her by straighten the top half of the hair and curl the bottom half and the result was again, perfect! It looked natural and healthy (compared to the one time in Taiwan which gave me a obvious line between straight part and wavy part). Overall, I highly recommend Dianne, especially for haircut and styling! (She also does nails but I haven't tried it.) TIP: book her at least two weeks in advance (especially for longer sessions like coloring, curling and straightening) as she is so popular!
