Over $2,000 spent, significant hair loss, and an emergency removal within 48 HOURS. After 15 years…read moreof wearing extensions, I have NEVER experienced anything like this. Even more disturbing, another recent online review describes nearly identical issues which were placement of extensions at the base of the skull and resulting hair loss. I wish I had read it sooner !
I went to Amanda, the owner, for extensions to add volume around my face and temples. Amanda was incredibly nice, but something felt off. She chose the Hairdreams system, not me. She knew my hair was short, fine, and already compromised. A Hairdreams trainer later confirmed that this system was NOT appropriate for my hair type or condition.
Amanda initially assured me three bundles ($900) would be sufficient, repeatedly saying, "Trust me." Midway through installation, she needed a fourth bundle, yet I STILL lacked volume around my face. Instead, she concentrated extensions at the back of my skull, including below the occipital bone, where I already had plenty of healthy hair and needed absolutely nothing. Many bonds were crooked, pulling neighboring hairs, and installed far too close to my scalp.
Within hours, I developed redness, swelling, and severe pain. Within 48 HOURS, I was at a different, Elite-level Hairdreams salon. The owner was so concerned that she stopped what she was doing and personally spent hours removing most of the bonds, graciously charging me very little. Despite the immediate removal, I lost a substantial amount of my own hair at the back of my head, including previously healthy areas. This was not product sensitivity. The installation was improper. It was done haphazardly and far to close to my scalp
I was also never informed how the system worked or that the hair would need to be discarded and replaced after 8 weeks. With extensions, color ,products, and other charges, I spent over $2,000 for something that lasted TWO DAYS.
Amanda may be lovely, but her defensive responses to other complaints do not inspire confidence in her willingness to accept responsibility. Given that she recommended a system inappropriate for my hair, failed to explain its limitations, and installed extensions in areas I didn't need, the entire experience felt more like a cash grab than a professionally tailored service.
Please seek an Elite-level Hairdreams salon or consider another salon and extension method altogether. I have since had a beautiful, high-quality set of extensions installed elsewhere for significantly LESS than I paid at New Age. They are comfortable, appropriate for my hair type & have not caused the pain or damage I experienced here. That alone demonstrates how unnecessary this entire ordeal was.
Based on my experience, I absolutely cannot recommend New Age.
