I have to say, of all the chickens we've had the ones that we bought from Mill Valley chickens have been the friendliest, both up front & even now, 3 years later. We have 9 chickens, 5 friendlies from MV chickens & 4 less friendly, more skittish ones from elsewhere. There is a definite difference in chickens who've been socialized when young. They're friendlier & less skittish upfront, and stay friendlier as they get older. The lady who runs Mill Valley chickens is easy to work with, takes good care of her chickens, and makes sure that they're healthy when she sends them off with you. She has some supplies there that you can buy to assure a good start if needed. If you're a new person getting into chickens definitely get them here. Friendly healthy chickens make a huge difference to your chickening experience.

Women walks out from behind the gate and says she was just about to leave - I said I emailed you yesterday and confirmed 1 pm. She said yes but you are late. Also, guess you didn't read the sign no parking... I was late - just wanted to check in..... Super rude. If this was all such an issue a phone conversation prior or an email explaining such would have been an appropriate approach. MVC has a very informative, lengthy website....easy to get lost in all the "chicken soup" . Part of purchasing a chicken at least $100 worth of products need to be purchased- I did see that. Was not aware that the past pullet ages were $190 each.... Multiple coupes around the property - cleaned often??? Website states best kept coupes and only so many chickens per coupe - many of the chickens had no hind feathers and the coupes were so crowded when they were on the perch - they were shitting on the chickens below. When looking for my $100 required product purchase - they were not organized per item - dust ridden, in different storage bins - very dirty unorganized - gross actually. Went inside to find other items - highly unorganized as well. Prices for products were not marked - so a guessing game; maybe based on if your arrived on time....No expiration dates on the bins of snacks etc - Being as such - I feel I was buying items she received for free -who knows. Very unprofessional - I will visit nor sponsor this establishment again. I honestly believe the higher ratings that have been received are from the locals - just saying. I do wish I took photos to show the madness of it all. All of my friends said I should have walked away from the start - Agreed But, when I saw the chickens and the pens - I couldn't walk away - She has more babies also - not sure where they will find their new home as they have no room. Almost like a family. One morning, up in ALanden Quicksilver Park, going up a steep narrow trail, they suddenly half turned and let rip with ferocious barks. A cougar came racing down the hill, I guess it wanted us for breakfast. Nope. Their utter ferocity in their barking and stance was one obstacle. The second was Bear Spray. That cougar decided quickly that this would not be a good way to start the day. Those two adopted dogs were Loyal, lovable, Protective, Goofy. Play ball? You bet. They loved swimming, exploring and making friends. My lab lived until she was 15. Our Shepsky passed a year or so before. Coppers Dream has always been professional, friendly and easy to approach. Now, I'm back looking for one more dog. Our young, female GSD is lonely without her big sister and big brother..

I knew she was the person I wanted to contact. She literally bent over backward trying to find first a foster for the remaining cat, then finally a magnificent, permanent home. It didn't happen overnight but she diligently kept at it, until a fantastic home was found. Ann has a very strong love for cats, that's clear to see, shes been doing rescue and adoption for over 30 years I believe, and I for one went with her organization over all the others because of her high standards. She puts the cats first, over anything else, even at the risk of possibly offending people sometimes, (I know not intentionally), which is what I wanted in a cat rescue. I'm not thin skinned and don't easily get offended especially when I know someone is willing to work their butt off to find cats safe and happy homes. Finding good homes for animals isn't easy folks, I know I used to do it. I would say to those who thought her rude just realize she's looking out for the cats and wants what's best for them, and please don't take things too personally, what she's doing is damn hard work. I think the world of Ann Allen and this organization, she helped me tremendously and is an extremely devoted animal (cat) person. When I doubled back months after adoption with the female volunteer about PJ's awful demeanor, she commented that he has anger issues towards women and had to cut him off herself months prior. We did not receive any medical records for our cats including any microchip information. We were never told that one of our cats was extremely sick with respiratory issues when Fuzzy Butt Rescue first obtained them (I found this out 1.5 yrs into ownership after issues had already arose). We were never told that male, neutered cats are prone to urinary tract infections or we would have adopted female cats; I am a solo mom with 100% of everything for my child so my plate is full as is. We were never told that a key piece of healthy lifestyle for male, neutered cats in preventing UTIs is room to run around before my 10-yo son and I brought them home to our 700 sq ft condo. When confronted with health issues with our pets, PJ refused to make any effort to help us get them care. He was insulting and called me "cheap" for not being willing to spend thousands of dollars on testing despite that I took our cat to 2 emergency clinic visits after working hours the first of which was around midnight before a big job I had booked for the next day. He said he would take them back vs actually helping us to resolve the issue. Our cat's UTI was resolved with a $10 homeopathic product on Amazon that has over 10K reviews and a 4.4 star rating. He called that product "a hoax" but it worked in ONE day once I had time to stay home with the cat and treat him. PJ insulted me for even thinking of trying the homeopathic product vs agreeing to thousands of dollars of testing as a first resort. This guy is the absolute worst. If you want a pleasant and professional pet adoption process, go somewhere that has built a documented reputation in that vein which provides the necessary medical history on adoption (I wasn't aware there was any or I would have asked!). It's March 2023 and I'm looking at our cat's 9 page vet record now in after we got them in Feb 2021 and am shaking my head. This cat has major health problems. I had 2 cats as a child for almost 20 yrs with none of these issues. My son was crying in his sleep last night with a nightmare about losing our cat. Screw you and your judgment and negligence, PJ.

Nasty email: "If you're next step is to go buy an animal instead of self reflecting then that speaks highly of you. We feel even more solid in our decision. Please explain to your child you do not value the lives and well being of your animals and I think he'll understand our decision too." Bad experience at this place, Avoid unless you want to deal with mean people. I also agree that they are withholding the medical history of the cats. My husband thought the cat seemed sick. I thought he was just bored and depressed in the cage, but I saw later on the facebook page that this bunch of cats all had extensive medical issues. No one informed me of that at all when we filled out the paperwork on him.
