She really knew what she was talking about. The organization does have a really solid vetting and interview process before you can even meet the dogs. They really do their best to not only find good people, but to inform and educate and to match the right dog with the right adopter. My dog Iris and I are regular clients of Planet Canine. I feel the need to post today and update my…read moreprevious review to express my continued STRONG support of this small, local business. This is in direct response to the person who recently posted about his wife feeling uncomfortable around one employee, Chris. First I'd like to say that I have been going to the Planet for years through several generations of dogs. I love the service I get there and how good they are to my dog. The owner Steve is super nice and he and his employees absolutely love my dogs. You get such a personal touch there and there is very little turnover among employees. Steve hires dedicated workers like Jordan who covers all morning shifts and some afternoon, and Chris who was (but because of that review now no longer is) covering a couple of afternoon shifts. He stepped in for another great employee James when James hurt his leg. Chris comes regularly. He's on time. He's very good with the dogs. Folks, this is a gem of a business. The employees are not transient people who don't care about you or your pet. They offer very hands on service and your dog will tell you how much they love going there. Second, Chris didn't deserve this. He is a very friendly guy. He is not inappropriate or scary. I'm a woman. I've met scary and it isn't Chris. He overshares a bit, yes, and he talks about his personal life, yes. Sometimes you just want to get your dog and go. I'm not minimizing the experience of this one customer if she was uncomfortable. But these are not high paying careers these guys have. It's a hard job with no thanks surrounded all day by smelly, barking, pooping dogs! They take great care of our animals and I am so, so grateful for everything they do for me. And for the fact that Steve runs a stable business with workers who like him. They like our dogs. And they work damn hard for us so I can go downtown 3x a week and make a living without worry that my dog is at home eating the couch. I'm very sorry to see Chris go over this. I liked him and liked hearing about his baby boy, his car troubles, his life. I will miss seeing him on Monday evenings and I wish him well wherever he winds up after this. I will continue to patronize the Planet because it's just so much more personable and caring than the expensive box places that churn through dogs and workers without caring about anything but making a buck off you. That is not Planet Canine or anything Steve or his workers would ever tolerate.

I now prevent uncomfortable situations with my young Shepard mix who wants to herd dogs even! Kelli is great in all situations and is helping me and my son have a better relationship with our dog. From the first session she is showing me how to have Princess Kitty make friends with other dogs! Kelli is a master dog communicator- from dog body language of all the dogs to subtle and quick changes in the eyes of dogs - and is a phenomenal trainer hands down the best I'm met. She understands what dogs at up to at all moments, and all the possibilities of what could happen next. Kelli may work with puppies but she easily works well with my 50 lb active shepherd as well as my son's friends terrier a 8 lb rescue from the streets of California. Kelly understands dog body language and dogs so well she can predict their next moves easily. Great trainer wonderful lady who truly speaks dog! I would highly recommend her in any situation with any dog, or even if you want to get to know your dog better and make more doggie friends! Sky's the limit with Kelli, expect Miracles!

Hopefully folks look for her on Yelp too! The app didn't really make it clear how far Kelli would have to travel to work with us, but after talking to us she decided to come out and work with us anyway. I can't say enough about Kelli. She really cares deeply about her clients (and their humans). We have a very sweet, large and dominant dog with leash reactivity and dog aggression issues. Kelli was willing to travel a long way to make sure that our pup got the help she needed, and we didn't inadvertently exacerbate our dog's issues trying to correct them. Kelli was kind, patient, and extremely generous with her time and skills. We would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for intuitive, experienced help with doggie behavioral issues.

The food was wonderful, and they accommodated any need. I needed cane training, and I'm so glad I was able to participate in this program. Before going, I was fairly certain I was only interested in cane training and not in a potential future guide dog. However, GDB offers a guide dog experience to those in the cane training program, and I was glad to have the opportunity to compare traveling by cane and traveling with a guide dog. I found out guide dogs can be a big help in identifying obstacles at or near head level, which is an issue for me given my pattern of vision loss. So, though I was not entertaining the idea of possibly working with a guide dog at the outset, I became open to and curious about it through this great experience. I learned so much in just 5 days, I'm still stunned. I was provided with a report of my training and specific recommendations for next steps. I received it about a week after the training concluded. It was quite specific to my needs, and nearly two months later I continue to follow up on it. A month after training ended I also had a follow up meeting over the phone, which allowed me to clarify anything I had run into concerning cane travel since returning home. A wonderful experience! I highly recommend the program to those looking to build cane skills while also having an eye to possibly working with a guide dog in the future. Many thanks to all who make this program possible.
