I wanted a bright and bold house 5 years ago. Robin was energetic, and excited to work on picking the colors out. I told her some of my ideas for a bright pop of orange, etc. She ran with my ideas well initially. But as we got into the main living/kitchen areas, I wanted the tone to be more muted, and wanted to opt for something more pastel or neutral. At this point is where my experience with Room Fu went wrong. I was goaded with the words "I thought you wanted to be fun and bold", and ended up picking colors I would be irked by. A purple kitchen next to a golden wall, a concrete colored half wall, and an avocado green hallway. Anywhere I stood in the house, I was looking at at least five colors. We didn't enjoy it at all. There was no place to escape the loud colors and create a tranquil corner, something I had hoped the kitchen/breakfast area would be. It was an over-the-top version of what I had wanted. End of last year, we finally painted the house an all-over neutral, and MAN I was so happy. It finally stopped looking like a clown house. I've done a good bit of remodel/redecorating since then, and never once has anyone else tried to push me so far beyond my tastes. They all realize it is my home, and ultimately I have to love it, no matter whether that makes me "fun and bold" or not.
