Hello went here for lunch. Overall best experience for Nigerian food. Service was fast and nice. The restaurant is cozy and elegant. The food was served fast. look for street parking. Let's talk about the food... the egusi i had the chicken egusi was rich, vibrant, spicy. Really great color on the egusi i wish it would have had more crayfish personal preference but overall delicious. The dodo (side of plantains) was good i don't like the smush plantains so i enjoyed these. The suya I've been looking for Nigeria suya but this did not disappointing wish they would have been a little more liberal with the suya spice to give u the i need water vibe but overall the suya was crisp on the outside and tender in the inside. I really enjoyed it compliments to the chef. I recommend.

Finally an authentic Nigerian restaurant in Los Angeles where you can sit and enjoy good flavors. JP did this one. Jollof Rice and Goat meat, dodo and creamy slaw 10/10. Will return for more delicious meals on the menu. Ordered some Isi ewu to go! Food portion- 10/10 Parking -metered Ambience-clean, small but I know this is a start for the bigger. Good luck to JP. Service-10/10

Had such a great experience dining here! I called my order for takeout, but decided to dine in the restaurant instead. Service was wonderful, and JP (who I believe is the owner?) was very amicable and accommodating. The food was DELICIOUS, best I've ever had. The meat portions were generous as well. It was my cousin's first time trying egusi soup and I'll never forget the way his face lit up after tasting his first bite. He's now a believer, and Jagabans made it happen :)

    The cold tasteless chicken

I called the restaurant to sell my food order via Uber Eats and make sure that my food was fresh since I had a $30 delivery fee. The owner guaranteed that his food is the best in California. That was a lie! I received the food and not only was one of my items missing the owner. Told me the cook said he was tired. That's why he didn't put my fish in my packaging. The second thing is the food was cold. That tells me this food is not fresh. It's food that's may be stored in the refrigerator and kept for like seven days and reheated and given to client... terrible ..sorry but I do not recommend. Tell me from a city who cooks African food on every strength. I was highly disappointed, especially with the way he hyped up the rest of him.

It was our first time trying fufu and this place did not disappoint. The service was amazing and the restaurant was clean. We got the chicken and oxtail egusi soup to eat with our fufu. Fufu portion is very generous and the meat was extremely tender and flavorful. We will definitely be back when we are in town!

My partner and I's first time trying Nigerian food and it is amazing! We have been back cause our first experience was so delicious. 2 for 2 banger and we will definitely be back for more. We always get takeout but definitely will dine in the next time around. Also Princess is super incredibly nice and will greet you with the kindest and most friendly energy. We love Jagabans!

First order didn't go as planned but as soon as I reached out to the owner, he professionally took matters in his hands. In a timely manner, I received a new order that is fresh, flavored, and so tasteful. Overall, my experience ended well with a nice note from their restaurant. Highly recommended.

Must try if you're in LA. the stew is the perfect amount of spice and SO flavorful. The goat is tender and tastes very fresh. One order of the stew was able to feed 3 people. The service is so friendly and they are always super welcoming to those who aren't familiar with how to eat fufu. they also provide you with a bowl to wash off your hands. would recommend the soursop juice as well it's very fresh and has such a unique flavor. restaurant is very beautiful as well and it feels very comfortable. Overall would highly recommend! ^-^

Have been looking for fufu in the downtown area forEVER! So happy this place opened up! The folks were friendly and really seemed to care about how we liked the food and experience. Definitely will be coming back as I would love this place to succeed!

Had a fantastic 3 course meal. Spicy, succulent, well seasoned meat with perfectly prepared sides. The personal touch of the charismatic owner and staff took the experience to another level. Thanks to the entire Jagabans staff for an amazing delectable experience!!!!!

I never had Nigerian food before but as a Latina who loves spice, I was up for the adventure! We ordered the delicious goat with jollof rice entree and the suya entree with chicken as well as the moimoi and plantains. We were delighted to have JP, the owner, tour us through the dishes and felt so welcomed and attended to by the staff, we will be back. Try the spicy ginger pineapple house drink and bring your appetite because you will not leave hungry. The restaurant is well lit so you will easily see it from the street and inside you'll see that it was newly done up. Great lighting and music too.

    Yam Fufu W/Egusi Chicken

Everything was amazing! The only reason for 4 stars is that the jerk chicken was too spicy for us. However we will definitely be back for the egusi with chicken. The plantains were amazing as well.

The egusi & goat were delicious and great portion. The goat was the star & was very tender. The fufu was also good & soft. The food came piping hot and in an insulated carrier so kudos to the restaurant for that. However it really lacked in areas with the flavor profiles. I personally don't think it had an authentic taste to it, just red rice and meat. Maybe it was an off day? The plantains were good but can't really mess those up unless you don't know what you're doing. The beef was really soft (I was hoping it would be fried meat and THEN sautéed but it seemed to be boiled) many other people I know probably wouldn't complain about something like that but it really matters when it comes to Nigerian food. Also as you can see there was a lot of onions, another preference thing which I wouldn't have minded if everything else was on point. On the plus side I felt it was an actually decent sized portion for the price and being in LA. The plate was packed and heavy! Oh I forgot I also ordered the zobo which came bottled. Nothing special. - @mealswithmaka

Service was a bit slower than I would've liked, but they're still fairly new and the place was slammed on the Saturday I went, so it's understandable. I actually never saw that many seagulls in the city side. Parking is at Ralphs though I'm unsure if you could park there or not. There is a sign for parking for Ralphs only and several parkings are for teachers. Service and food are amazing though. The restaurant is very clean. The bathroom sink has the most narrow faucet ever. The faucet is 1 in above the sink so I don't know how people wash their hands. These are what we ordered 1 Plantain + Crab $20.00 - 3/5. I fried plantain is good with the little bit of crabs on the side. Dish is creative but overall not extraordinary. 1 Root Beer Braised Short Rib - $44.00 5/5 this is the most delicious and my favorite dish. The mashed potato is so creamy and beef is so soft. It is the most creamy and buttery mashed potato I've ever had. 1 Jollof Platter $28.00 + Berbere Shrimp $12.00 - 4/5. The spicy rice dish has enough moisture and dryness. The shrimp was grilled in creme sauce. 1 Garlic Noodle $22.00 2/5. It tastes like soy sauce noodles because I couldn't really taste the garlic part of it. 1 Plantain Sticky Cake $15.00 5/5 toffee pudding style and is amazing. Moist and creamy. Overall I would definitely come back. Service is outstanding and water is filled with bottle and we could constantly refill it.

This is not like any of the other restaurants I've visited in Berkeley or even LaBrea's Little Ethiopia. It's focused on a more luxurious experience with genuinely authentic touches. ** ELEGANTLY ETHIOPIAN ** Warm, welcoming, and elegant, the staff is highly attentive, from the ceremonial hand washing to refilling glasses, and detailed explanation of menu items & Ethiopian culture. Also, the staff gives you your space, much like you'd enjoy your meal and time in Europe. Or as a nice meal is probably honored in Ethiopia. There seems to be a lot of care put into how to enjoy a feast with proper rituals in place. Speaking of honoring, Aunt Yvette's seems to also reserve a high regard for coffee as I sneaked a peek at a Coffee Ceremony on the menu. I will have to come back and try that next time. ** THE FEAST ** When at Ethiopian, it's always about sharing a platter. So after some deliberation, me and my lunch date settled on the Vegan Combo. It has all the fun vegetable options like the Berbere Red Lentils, Cabbage & Carrots, Yellow Split Pea, and Ethiopian Potatoes. We added Chicken Tibs as our protein. However, I really wanted the Cornish Game Hen, but lost in the negotiation part so I will need to return another time to try it (along with the coffee ceremony). As you may know, there are no utensils since you eat with the Injera spongy bread and use your hands. That's why the hand washing with rose water was a nice start to our lovely brunch. We also ordered a shot each of Tej, an authentic Ethiopian honey wine. It was fizzy and had a hint of apple cider vinegar taste, but paired well with the earthy spices of our meal. To fluff up the water sitch, there was an anise, ginger, and citrus water that's like a healthy, African aqua fresca for $5. After we mopped up all the spices sauces and exotic flavors with the ever-refilled injera (spongy, Ethiopian bread) we were stuffed. It was plenty food for the two of us. ** TURN UP THE HEAT ** For fire breathing ghost chili fans and spice freaks who love testing the Scoville scale on their tongues, I highly recommend any item that has MITMITA in it. I asked for extra since I'm one of those spice junkie nut jobs who needs her capsaicin fix with certain foods. Mitmita's flavor notes don't overpower and I was able to sprinkle my meal generously with heat. **NOTE: Mitmita in the ingredients list doesn't mean it's too spicy, but if you ask for extra spicy, it'll give you a good kick in the mouth ;) Good thing there's a list of craft cocktails to squelch the heat.
